Chapter 74

Tristan was all alone when she left him. Walking into his room and all he could see was the memories they had made on that bed which stuck to him like glue. He had actually done something for which he had no explanation for. The stained bedsheet, he had folded perfectly and stored away for reasons he could not explain yet. Perhaps it was because she was the first of her kind who he had been with or perhaps he had just developed the habit of keeping trophies. Alfredo had still not returned when he had freshened up and so he decided to go sit in his study for a while. Trying to focus on the files on his desk was not happening as he could not do anything. He wondered what Claire was doing. Her driver had eventually called him to say she had arrived safely. That was good enough for him or at least he thought so. He tried focusing once again but that also was not happening. Tristan called Alfredo and the old man said he was on his way already. Fair enough, Alfredo would come back and explain to him just why he had taken the time in the world to come back after dropping off doctor dearest.
His restlessness had sure gotten out of hand that he had asked the maids to bring him his favourite wine and glass upstairs. He went to the room which he barely visited. The piano room was dark and still dimly lit. He sat down and brushed his hands across the keys getting himself familiarized with the sound as he imagined Claire sitting next to him. His drink was brought and he sipped from the glass poured out for him before starting to play a note on the piano. He was playing a slow note that gave off a serene atmosphere and letting it sync with his spirit that it elevated his soul from that point to two hours later when he took a pause to sip from his glass. His eyes rested on his phone as he started thinking. Something he really does not do with women. He wanted to speak to her and be certain she was alright considering what had happened and her father’s pensive tone. Tristan made a mental calculation of how long it had been since she left the house including his piano playing time. He could call her now seeing she must have been rested now or resting in her bedroom.
He grabbed his phone and started dialing. She was not picking up immediately and he thought perhaps she was sleeping. Tristan would have hung up the call as he would rather she rests and not interrupt her sleep but then Claire picked up the call and the noisy atmosphere certainly was not giving him in house vibes. What kind of woman was this, he wondered as his vision clouded. She spoke into the phone and he his first question was about her whereabouts. Claire had taken a pause before explaining that she was at the beach with her brother. There was a little social outing going on there and he had asked she go with him. Tristan could not believe his ears. This had to be the dumbest act he had ever seen exhibited by a woman in a long time. She had all of a sudden forgotten about the previous night’s episode and went on to another party as soon as she had left his house. He was definitely going to deal with the driver if he finds out the the man had been lying to him about taking her home. Tristan had demanded he takes her straight home so why on earth was she outside at this time. He asked her why she had not gone home and Claire explained that the driver had taken her home but her brother had insisted that she goes with him to the beach outing. He disliked she was calling it a outing when obviously that sounded like a party where teenagers go to have their silly ideas of fun of which he had his fair share of during his days. She also might have had hers so what was her problem at this point of her age. It was at this point that he heard a man speak to her in the background.
“Hey Claire, leave work to sort itself and let’s have some fun.” the person had said
“Coming Jasper.” she said
“Was that your brother?” Tristan asked her not knowing why he asked
“No. That’s Jasper. His best friend.” she responded.
Her brother’s best friend, now that was totally unexpected. Where was her brother then or was she lying to him. He was He got really upset and did not wait for her to finish before hanging up on her. Tristan angrily jammed a tone on the piano, drank up his drink from the bottle straight up and got up. He was sweating profusely pretty much and went straight to his room for a fresh shower and to get fresher clothing. He did not take up so much time as his rage had gotten the better of him at this point. All he wanted to see so much was the woman playing the fast one at him. As he stepped out prepared to swear at Alfredo whenever he shows up, he saw the man coming up. He frowned as the man began explaining that it was not his fault that he had come back late. He was about going further with his explanation, when Tristan stopped him
“Keys.” Tristan said to him. He was beginning to get tired as he missed his main house now where he had enough cars and could bounce out with one anytime he wants. He was going to order for more from this point to make it all three so he could very much diversify.
“But sir I’m sorry. I didn’t…” Alfredo began to explain as the old man was beginning to feel like he was getting fired at the point
“Keys Alfredo. I am not firing you.” Tristan said hastily.
The old man smiled as he handed him the keys.
“Oh thank you so much sir.” he said obviously relieved. Tristan took the keys and started to walk away when as if he had suddenly remembered something.
“When I return Alfredo, we’ll decide your fate.” he said and walked away faster.
It took a moment for it to sink in as Alfredo wondered what would become of him when it dawned on him that Tristan was driving away. He turned to ask where he was going off to but Tristan was away already. He smiled and went to ask the maid certain questions on what was getting Tristan worked up. There was nothing to say to him as they too had no idea. They only knew he had been playing soft tones on his piano all day after the lady left and suddenly his mood had changed. Alfredo was confused totally as he could not even understand what was happening with his boss. Something was most definitely wrong somewhere and he just hoped it would not affect either of them.
Tristan had browsed on his map about the nearest beach in the area as he could not wait to go pick her up. He did not care about the public but all he wanted was to do that which was on his mind. Claire Willows certainly would be the death of him if he is not all careful with how she keeps him on his toes. He drove quickly increasing his speed and not bothering at all. There was a man close to her there and he certainly was not her brother. Where then was this brother of hers whom she claimed she had gone with.
Getting to the beach in about thirty minutes, Tristan picked up his phone to dial her number. He kept on calling but she was not answering her phone. He called over and over again still inside the car all to no avail. Tristan punched his steering wheel and then dialed again. She was not answering and he angrily got off his car. The sooner people saw him getting off, there were whispers as they recalled the celebrity. The whispering did not bother and neither did the few clicks tick him off now as he moved quickly. By the morning, he would have them take down whatever they post. He asked the person’s in charge of the beach where he could find students having their fun and was pointed in the direction. The more he moved, the more he got everyone’s attention and then he caught sight of her and another boy somewhere close to the beach. She was trying to take her phone while the young man kept it far from her by raising his hands over. He was enjoying the game especially as Claire’s body kept touching he’s. What a dumb woman, Tristan wondered as he walked over.
“Willows!!!” he yelled at her and she was stratled when she turned and saw him standing there before her with anger in his eyes. He approached her and his glaring eyes was on the young man playing the games with her.
