When Prince Jeremy entered, Queen Natasha was sitting at the table filing her nails.
When she saw him come in, she paused what she was doing to look at him. Goodness! She became quite anxious whenever he was in the vicinity.
Jeremy sang softly to her as he approached, and when he was near enough, he pecked her on the cheek. She smiled and said, “Good evening.”
“Yes. I pray this finds you well and enjoying the evening. And… where’s my sweetheart now? ”
He looked around and saw that she wasn’t lying in bed.
“Oh! ” Jeremy sat down on the bed next to her and looked at her nails to confirm that she had been working on them while Maria gave her a bath.
Gentle as he could, he took the file from her and began working on it while holding her left palm. “Do you chance to know where the King and Ella are going? “After a moment of stillness, Natasha inquired in her seductive voice, “What’s up? I wish I did,” Jeremy shrugged.
There was an obvious hint of anguish in his voice as he told Natasha, “You should know my brother never engages me in any of his business.”
The two were silent for a while before Jeremy broke the hush.
But I highly doubt he has a calendar or any scheduled meetings. Perhaps it’s something private between the two of you.
“That he can ride the same horse as her!” Natasha sneered.
“That shouldn’t concern you, my darling,” Jeremy said, touching her arm.
“In fact, I feel that we need to be focusing on other matters rather than the King’s.
Natasha was so insulted. “Like what?” She gave him her whole attention. His smirk was devilish as he pulled her gently back into the bed.
Even though it was winter, the evening was icy.
As King Spenser and Ella strolled down the calm path, they could make out the distant sounds of the people and the rattling of the birds above their heads. Since leaving the cave, they had gone a long time without communicating, and Ella was starting to feel the strain. On the brighter side, she felt more at ease when strolling alongside him, maybe because he wasn’t wearing a royal robe.
A young lady carrying a basket was the first person they saw walking down the trail. She covered her head with the scarf and approached the pair, smiling.
“Please allow me to extend my greetings to you. “Ella bowed her head as the lady walked away, “Greetings to you too.” The king turned slowly to give her a quick glimpse as she went, then he turned properly. He mumbled something about how comforting it was to know that his people still respected the regular folk, and Ella smiled uneasily.
“What’s it like to be a commoner and stroll with me?” ”
“I… think it’s really good, Your Majesty. I mean, I appreciate that you see your folks for who they really are, and you get to enjoy some of the things you haven’t had the luxury of enjoying for a long time. ” Even with his head cocked and his hands behind his back, the King carried himself with the dignity of a monarch.
“Where did you get that notion? “, he inquired once again.
“The concept of…. pressing me to do action? I trusted you with a once-in-a-lifetime chance, and you wasted it. Why? “Ella’s heart sank for a moment at the question, but just for a moment. She looked at the ground and chewed her bottom lip nervously.
And the King’s brow furrowed at her revelation that “Actually…. It was Queen Diana, My King.”
“You have so little time for yourself, the Queen informed me, and that makes her sad. Because of this, I took action when you presented me with the chance. “The King bobbed his head again, this time with even more enjoyment. They sprinted out of the makert’s main door after reaching the end of the walkway.
The King and Ella came to a sudden halt as they halted and took in the bustling scene before them: people strolling and talking, men and women working the grills, ladies pushing strollers, children playing, a general air of activity.
Spenser groaned, “Guess we’re here finally.”
“Are you prepared for this?
He questioned Ella, and she responded with a little nod.
They said their goodbyes and then entered the marketplace.
The King glanced around as they strolled in and said, “You should be more acquainted with the market, Ella. Therefore, I believe you can be of assistance. ”
There was an awkward pause. Ella paused and took stock of her surroundings.
“My King, I believe it’s time we get some beef,” she began. “You should watch how you call me,” he said.
“Remember I’m posing as someone else. Oh! Really, it rang true. ” She quickly corrected herself, “O… Okay, My… Uhm, Sorry,” and the King chuckled amiably.
A lady who was passing by said, “Greetings to you two.”
“Greetings to you as well,” Ella bowed, but she noted the woman’s intense gaze on the King at her side.
It came as no surprise that the King said nothing. More people, children, welcomed them hastily before hurrying away. After much searching, Ella and the King found a guy cooking sauced meat over an open flame. The King whispered softly to Ella, “You do the talking,” and of course, Ella knew that the King was always a quiet guy.
“What’s the price on them, sir? ”
She inquired gently as she pointed to the left-hand.
“Oh! That would be simply four coins” the middle-aged guy said. The king grabbed for the coin wrapper and gave it to Ella, who took four coins out.
As she reached for the guy to give him the cash, she saw that he was looking intently at the King’s face. Okay…. Surely nobody would suspect the King if he were to call from the street? Of course, not! He was, after all, wearing a cap.
