Now that Aleeza mentioned it, Nellie had thought of the seriousness of the Chambers family’s current situation.
Without waiting for her to speak, Aleeza continued, “Although it’s rude to say this, Mr. Francis is a madman.”
“Nellie, Barney has just succeeded in his surgery now, I don’t want him to worry and bother because of you, and I don’t want him and Mr. Francis to fight each other.”
With these latter words, Aleeza spoke with increasing seriousness and firmness, and with a strong warning to Nellie.
Nellie wanted to say something.
But at the moment, she was speechless.
She knew very well what kind of person Andre was. Aleeza was right, Andre would probably point the finger at the Brooks family.
He’s a madman, the kind who never stops to get what he wants.
And now, what he wants, is to go her back to Shirling.
Taking several deep breaths, Nellie could not suppress the stuffy weight in her heart. She was unable to give Miriam a definite answer, and therefore fell into deep thought.
It’s a good thing Aleeza didn’t mean to push her, after all, Andre hadn’t turned on the Brooks family yet.
So it gave her plenty of time to think about it.
“Think about it, and hopefully you’ll be able to break off your relationship with Barney before Mr. Francis points the finger at the Brooks family.”
The old lady said seriously, standing up, not wanting to continue talking to Nellie.
The old lady was gone. And Nancy was still sitting on the sofa.
She looked at Nellie with gloomy eyes and coldly snorted, “You are not good enough for my brother at all, leave early if you don’t want to embarrass yourself.”
Having said that, she rose to her feet. There was scorn and warning in that tone.
A cold light appeared under Nellie’s eyes, “Even if I’m not good enough, do you have a chance?”
Nancy thought to herself that she was indeed not good enough for Barney. But she was only good enough.
“I’m just not good enough for Barney, and you don’t even stand a chance with him, so who’s the one should thinking wildly?”
If she was good enough, there was a possibility to crosse the line, but what if there was an unbridgeable gap between the two?
Nancy’s face went white as she looked back at Nellie, her eyes full of hate.
Nellie, “You don’t have to hate me, after all, it’s not me standing between you and him.”
“Nancy, all the women in this world have the possibility of becoming Barney’s wife, except you, if he is a philandering male, then you really have a lot to hate.”
Hearing Nellie’s words, Nancy got furious.
The hope that was there in both eyes was now cracked.
“Heh.” She snorted, with a mournful look at Nellie, “Just be pleased with yourself, I won’t let my brother be with you even if he is with others.”
Nancy said in a defiant tone.
But Nellie laughed at that.
She said, “It doesn’t seem like it’s up to you to decide if Barney and I can be together, so it’s better for you to put your mind away.”
It’s not up to her?
Thinking of her brother’s warning to her, Nancy looked at Nellie with even more intense hatred in her eyes.
She could not wait to tear Nellie apart.
Her heart was constantly rising and falling, with a suffocating, smothering pain.
Nellie did not want to talk to her that much, “Please go back, Barney should be back soon.”
Hearing that the old lady’s car had left, Nellie knew what the old lady’s intention was in leaving Nancy behind.
And Nancy would carry such hope for Barney, presumably it had been the hope given by the old lady all these years.
She knew that in the past, there were many women who liked Barney, but every time, it was Nancy who stepped in and sent those women away.
The Brooks family had passed on ambiguous attitude to her.
“Hmph!”
Seeing that Nellie always stood in a kind of sovereign position, Nancy coldly snorted and turned to leave.
As she walked to the door, she saw Barney who had gotten out of his car.
At the sight of her, his face sank.
Nancy subconsciously stepped forward, “Barney.”
With that, she tried to grab Barney’s arm, as she had done when she was a child.
However, Barney subconsciously avoided it, and her outstretched hand froze in mid-air, and her face turned even whiter.
“You…”
“Don’t ever show up here again.” Without waiting for Nancy to say further, he said in a cold tone.
A dull pain passed through Nancy’s heart as she listened to his serious and detached tone.
That pain made her face whiter.
When she spoke again, her tone had a hidden pain, “Does she really mean that much to you?”
Barney paused in his tracks, without turning back, yet the aura emanating from that back gave Nancy a sombre and dangerous feeling.
Feeling this aura that Barney was giving off to her because of Nellie, Nancy’s heart was even more smothered with pain.
Moving her lips, she said, “Her husband is still waiting for her, you can’t keep her with you.”
At this, Barney turned back and looked at her with eyes so cold and chilly.
Nancy met his sharp eyes and there was a trance.
She couldn’t believe that the brother she had grown up with was now looking at her with such a strong murderous intent in his eyes.
The pain in her heart spreading, she continued, “Whether you admit it or not, it’s the truth.”
“What truth? The truth that you made it up?”
Nancy was stunned.
Did she make it up? They had grown up together, didn’t he know what kind of person she was? And now he said that she made it up?
Nancy cried out in aggravation, “What did I make up? Isn’t Andre her husband? Is it not true that he is in Yupto?”
“Nancy!” Barney’s tone was heavy with a thick warning.
Nancy looked at the way he always defended Nellie, and her heart choked with even more pain, “You’re really fooled out.”
“Get out.”
Nancy was surprised.
Her brother had never said such words to her before. Now he had even told her to get out for Nellie’s sake.
What had Nellie done to bewitch her brother?
Nancy’s hatred for Nellie in her heart had reached a monstrous level, and she vowed that she would make Nellie get the hell out of Yupto.
Nancy wanted to say something else, however Barney didn’t give her a chance at all, turned around and went straight in.
Standing still, Nancy looked at his cold back, the hate in her eyes was in a trance.
What had she done? Just saying a couple of words about Nellie and now she had incurred such disgust from her brother?
No, Grandma would protect her, even if her brother hated her so much, she would be the one who would marry him in the end.
As she thought this, Nancy felt slightly better.
