Karen sighed before speaking up. “Is there anything to talk about?”
“Of course. There are a lot of things to talk about.” Jack replied. He walked closer to her untill he stood few feet away from her. “Lets talk about us. I know I fucked up massively and I am really sorry. All I’m asking for is that you forgive me and give me one more chance, let’s build our future together.”
Karen stared at him as he finished speaking. Her stare was long and piercing. She got up from the chair, walked to fridge in the dinning room and pulled out two bottles of water before returning. She handed one bottle to Jack and uncapped her’s, drinking a little quantity.
“You clearly broke up with me. You wronged me greatly, and I don’t wanna go back to that past.” she replied, defiant.
“You-” he paused, stopping his sentence at the beginning before running his fingers through his hair. He realized if he wanted to win her back, he had to be calm. “What about Jayden?” he finally asked.
“I will take care of him. I’ve always had.” she replied.
“You don’t get it, do you?” Jack’s voice rose, same with his anger. “Everything has always been about you. Everything fucking thing! First, you lied to me and made me fall in love with you. I’m sorry for all that I did, and I’ve tried to prove that, but you’ve never cared. I still love you and I want to grow a family with my son.” he paused and stared at her deeply, his eyes conveying a lot of unspoken emotions. “And if you are not interested, then, I’ll take my son.”
The words hit Karen sharply like a tornado. She turned sharply and stared at him in horror “What did you say?” She scoffed.
Jack remained silent and stared at her. They stared at each other for some seconds before she broke the stare. She got up from the chair and walked up to him, folding her hands I’m front of him. “You have overstayed your welcome, Mr Antonio. You can now leave.” Karen spoke with defiance. She was starting to lose her cool.
He stared at her in a minute of increasing tension before walking out of the door. He slammed the door loudly as he walked out. Anger was rising quickly inside of him as he pulled open the door of his car. He stepped on the gas, speeding off. He drove for over twenty minutes before arriving at one of the biggest bars in the city. He eassd into the parking lot and parked his car close to another car. He stepped out, locked the car and stepped inside the bar.
The bar was almost filled with many people of the high class. He walked past the first door that led to a short lobby before opening the door to a room. The room was dimly lit with a blue light and was occupied by two other men who sat together, discussing over a shared bottle of drink. He walked to one end of the long sofa and sat comfortably, leaning on the back rest. A waiter walked up to him, bowing as he stood in front of him. He had recognized him to be Jack Antonio.
“I need the most expensive liquor available.” Jack ordered.
His order arrived barely a minute later and he nodded at the waiter who bowed again before walking out. He uncapped the drink and turned into a glass, almost filling it. He took a big gulp from the glass, closing his eyes as he let the hot drink burn down his throat.
He dropped the glass on the table with closed eyes. He felt agigated and the only way he could calm himself was by drinking. Few minutes later, he gulped the last content of the bottle directly from the bottle before setting it aside and ordering another bottle. In less than thirty minutes, he had emptied two bottles of alcohol by himself. He got up feeling a bit tipsy and walked out of the room. The effects of the drink kicked in fully as he walked past different closed doors in the lobby. He had hazy thoughts and his head was starting to bang. He pushed the nearest door open and stepped in.
Immediately he stepped in, he froze.
The room was darker than other parts of the building. He could hear different voices converse in the dark. One voice stood out. It sounded bossy and familiar. His inquisitive instincts kicked in and he inched closer in the dark.
“What quantity of coke are we moving out this week?” Jack froze in his spot as he heard the voice. He had heard it many times in the past few weeks to not know who it belongs to. And what what he talking about? Coke?
He felt numb as realization now dawned on him. Damian was a drug trafficker. Everything suddenly made sense to him. Damian used the money from drug trafficking to finance his company. A sudden rage grew in him and he was about taking another step when his leg got hooked on a chair, making a noise that alerted others in the room. He quickly hid as he heard footsteps come his way.
“Who is here?” he heard a thick voice call out after the footsteps had faded out. He held his breath as he took out his phone from his pocket and unlocked it quickly.
“Find whoever was here and bring him to me” He heard Damian’s voice from where he hid. From his calculations, Damian was now standing at the spot where the other man was. He typed into his phone before returning it into his pocket and few seconds later, he was yanked out by the broad shoulder muscular man.
“Got you!” the man pulled him out, dragging him by the collar of his shirt to where Damian was seated. A dishevelled Jack was tried to struggle free as the man clammed tightly on him. As they walked closer to where Damian was seated, he knew he was running out of options.
The man pushed him forward and he bent his head, staring at the floor to avoid Damian’s gaze. Damian was seated comfortably in a chair, smoking. There were two other men dressed in suits in the room.
“I found him hiding in the dark.” the man who discovered Jack revealed. Damian got up and walked up to Jack. He pulled his face up to stare at him and was shocked at who he saw.
They stared at each other. A look of horror crossed Damian’s face as he looked at Jack. What was he doing here? “You?” he managed to ask, returning this seat. He now appeared calm and coordinated. Jack had made a mistake and was now in his zone. He would have to play by his rules.
