Perhaps it is the effect of the alcohol that makes Bai Beiwang start to trust An Ya. However, as quite an unaccomplished drinker, she no longer picks up the glass.
Realizing that the untouched glass of Bai Beiwang turns to be of uselessness to make their relationship closer, An Ya immediately moves closer to Bai, and amiably takes Bai’s arm, “Everyone has hard times, you have to learn to understand the volatile nature of life, don’t you?”
“Yes.” Bai Beiwang nods. It’s easy for everyone to give big words, but how difficult for the one in trouble to accept the reality.
Noticing her words useless, An Ya once again incites her, “Only the important things will make you feel upset, and if you don’t face them, they will be lost. As a result, you have to be brave and strong.”
“Something important…” Bai Beiwang repeats it in her own mind, and suddenly finds it very reasonable.
If she continues to shrink, she will lose the courage to face Zhong Shaoting and Ding Manman. After all, during these days, she is convinced that they three may become very good friends. She shouldn’t give up their friendship.
An Ya is a bit proud of herself for being an excellent life coach when Bai Beiwang is taught by her. In fact, she’s going to charge for her education, because she’s going to take advantage of Bai Beiwang to accomplish her ambitious project.
An’s words get Bai Beiwang feel better, and she wants to leave the bar. An Ya follows her to leave so as to have more time in staying closer to Bai Beiwang.
As they walk near the gate, An Ya smiles brightly and asks, “May I see you again tomorrow? It’s my birthday and I want to invite you to my birthday party.”
Tomorrow certainly isn’t An’s birthday which is an excuse for her to prompt Bai Beiwang to contact with her.
Faced with such enthusiasm from An Ya, Bai Beiwang gives her cell phone number to An and says, “I’ve been very busy at work lately, but I’ll be there tomorrow after work. I’ll call you then.”
It’s unexpected to find such a weapon easily to fight with Zhong and Ding. An Ya bursts out laughing with her eyes narrowed into a slit, which makes Bai Beiwang a little puzzled: is it so happy to make a new friend?
Now it’s too late. Bai Beiwang returns to her home and throws herself onto the bed to sleep, regardless of the concerns of his parents and brother.
In the morning, Bai Beiwang who is appropriately dressed arrives at the office.
Ding Manman, who had thought that Bai Beiwang wouldn’t come to the company within a week, gets so happy when she sees the familiar figure that she almost jumps up from her chair. And she excitedly goes forward to hug Bai Beiwang tightly and says, “Beiwang, how is it, are you feeling better? How can you take such a long vacation and still turn off your phone? I am so worried about you.”
Hearing such a long list of accusations from Ding Manman, the worries in Bai Beiwang’s mind gradually fade away. She had thought that this would have set barriers between them.
“Well, maybe someone is missing me too much. I had a worse problem with menstrual cramps before, but now I am healthy.” Bai Beiwang lies, but silently assures in her heart that this must be the last lie she may tell to Manman.
Now that her good partner has returned, Ding Manman puts aside all her worries and begins to work in earnest. The two of them remain deeply attached as usual.
Until the end of the day, Ding Manman receives a call from Zhong Shaoting. He speaks very sweetly, “Manman, I have some important work to do tonight, and I might be a little late, so I can’t send you home. You just eat first when you are home.”
“All right, don’t worry.” Ding Manman says a few words perfunctorily and hangs up the phone. Actually, she doesn’t like the fact that Zhong Shao always treats her as a child.
Without Zhong Shaoting’s supervision, Ding Manman as a workaholic finally has a chance to work late.
She intends to finish her work after nine o’clock, which is interrupted by Bai Beiwang at seven o’clock.
“Manman, someone in my family is celebrating her birthday today, so I cannot accompany you to work tonight.” Bai Beiwang says while clutching her phone.
Just now, An Ya sent a text message to Bai Beiwang, saying that her birthday party would start at 7:30. If she doesn’t leave now, it might be too late. She replies to An that she will arrive as soon as possible.
“eh…” Ding Manman feels a little lost in her heart. On the one hand, her desire to work overtime can’t be satisfied, and on the other hand, she feels empty because Bai Beiwang won’t accompany her today.
At the thought that Bai Beiwang has her own stuff to do, she hides her unhappiness and says, “Shaoting can’t pick me up today, so it’s just as well that I go home now in fear that the bus routes are closed. Let’s go.”
They two walk out of the office together, and Bai Beiwang says that she will wait at the gate of the company for someone to pick her up later.
Ding Manman has to catch a bus, so they say goodbye.
As they part, Ding Manman notices that Bai Beiwang dresses carefully today, as well as the fact that there will be someone to pick her up and asks with a smile, “Huh… does it mean you have a boyfriend and you’re hiding him.”
To the great amusement of Bai Beiwang, Ding Manman is so wild about imagining. She pushes her away and says, “No guessing. It’s rare that you don’t work overtime. You should go home and have a good rest.”
It’s getting dark and Ding Manman feels somewhat depressed and stays for a while with Bai Beiwang before leaving.
Looking at the back of Ding as she departs, Bai Beiwang begins to think about how the friend she just met yesterday will appear soon.
Ding Manman encounters some difficulties. As it is the first time she takes the bus back to Zhong’s house by herself, she isn’t familiar with the bus route. She cannot find the ways to the bus station.
Zhong’s house is located in a remote area where only a few people hear about.
After trying for a long time and failing, Ding Manman takes out her mobile phone and wants to call Zhong Shaoting. But she stops and tells herself: Ding Manman! You are not a child, so you should rely on yourself.
Ding Manman has no way to find the way home, so she eventually gives up trying.
It happens to see a taxi ready to pick up passengers parked by the bus stop. However, occasionally some people goes up to inquire but the driver refuses to pick anyone up. Ding Manman cannot help but walks forward and asks, “Sir, could you give me a ride?”
“No problem, get on.” The driver puts his phone away and prepares to drive.
This behavior makes Ding Manman very puzzled. Just now he refused to drive but now… It is such a coincidence.
