Chapter 101: A Load on Her Mind

Book:Beloved by the Hardhearted Avenger Published:2024-5-31

There are only ten minutes, which means Bai Beiwang can only stay with Zhong Shaoting for a very short time. Bai Beiwang has never thought that time can pass so fast. Lying beside Zhong Shaoting, she can feel his powerful heartbeat and steady breathing. However, she knows she is only a passer-by and can not always stay with him like this. Taking out her mobile phone, Bai Beiwang takes a photo with Zhong Shaoting, at which point they are both naked. In the picture, Zhong Shaoting sleeps quietly while Bai lies happily in his arms. Then, in order not to expose herself, Bai Beiwang quickly puts on her clothes and leaves the room on tiptoe. As it’s already time to go to bed, even if the hypnotic effect on Zhong goes off, he will fall asleep again because of his biological clock. Therefore, Bai Beiwang can take a risk to stay here for a longer time if she wants, but in the end she chooses not to do that.
Bewaring of the man she likes, she can only feel pain instead of happiness while staying with him, in which case she would rather strangle her feelings. The next morning, Zhong Shaoting feels quite weak and dizzy after getting up, with his reaction becoming much more slowly. But Ding Manman slept very well last night and woke up very early this morning. She is now chatting with Bai Beiwang in the dining room and, meanwhile, waiting for Zhong to go downstairs for breakfast.
When Zhong Shaoting, who looks very weak, appears in the dining room, Ding Manman comes forward with a teasing smile: “Let me guess what happened last night. Why are you out of spirits?” With Ding’s words, both Zhong’s and Bai’s expressions change suddenly.
In Zhong’s eyes, the bad girl is obviously doubting his ability as a man, or is even doubting whether he did something secretly last night, which makes him a little dissatisfied. So he fights back: “I was thinking about you all the night. Just see if I will be cheated by you again tonight.” Being threatened by Zhong, Ding Manman immediately stops talking and eats her breakfast as obediently as a kid. Witnessing the two’s interaction, Bai Beiwang only feels her nose twitching with a grievance, in which case she nearly cries out. However, she quickly hides her emotions and acts normally before Ding and Zhong.
Since Zhong is hypnotized, Bai actually needs to dehypnotize him. But last night she just left him alone in the room, which leads to Zhong’s dizziness and memory loss. Although Zhong has a relatively clear mind today, he forgot what happened last night, including that Bai entered his room and brought him a bowl of spirit-quieting decoction. Making sure that she is safe, Bai Beiwang knows it’s time for her to go home. When she knew that her family wouldn’t fight for his brother Bai Nantian, she felt very angry as his sister. Deciding to sort Ding and Zhong out, she takes the initiative to approach them, after which, however, she finds they are so nice that she can’t be tough to them. At the thought that she will leave them soon, and then she will probably become their enemy, Bai Beiwang eats her food more and more slowly. Being nostalgic for this place, she only wishes that those unpleasant memories do not exist at all.
Noticing Bai’s troubled expression, Ding asks her with care: “What’s wrong? Didn’t you sleep well last night either? Or doesn’t your food agree with you?” Hearing Ding’s words, Bai feels guiltier, but she forces herself to be natural: “I’m OK. You know, I… actually started my period, so I feel a little weak with dysmenorrhea.” Ding smiles after Bai’s explanation: “I see. Today I will be responsible for providing you hot water.” Finishing their conversation, the three continue to have breakfast and then go to the company. At present, discussions on the relationships among Bai Beiwang, Ding Manman and Zhong Shaoting have gone viral in the whole company, but the two girls deny the rumors through keeping a low profile.
Although Ding is very busy recently, she still takes care of Bai through getting a cup of hot water for her from time to time and reminding her to have a good rest, by which Bai is quite moved. However, despite Ding’s considerate care, one day in the late morning Bai comes to her with a dreadfully pale face: “Manman, I am really uncomfortable, so I have to go home for a rest. Please take my place temporarily and call me if there are any problems.” Since these days the two have lived together, Ding Manman considers taking care of Bai as her responsibility, but in order to finish their work, she has to let Bai look after herself: “OK, just go back for a rest. As for the job, I can cover for you.”
This is the first time that Ding has treated her job so seriously. As the job is also a proof of her friendship with Bai, she will absolutely be careful with it. Going out from the director’s office, Bai packs her stuff and leaves the company in a hurry. It is not until lunch time that Ding Manman knows from the director that Bai finally asked for a leave of an entire week. It is known that these days the company is in great shortage of staff, in which case Bai Beiwang should not ask for such a long leave just because of her dysmenorrhea. Thinking of this, Ding Manman calls Bai worriedly, but ends up finding Bai’s mobile phone has already turned off. Ding Manman becomes more and more worried, but she can’t stop her job. Without knowing what happened to Bai, Ding Manman works anxiously until the evening.
Back home, Ding Manman comes to Zhong Shaoting immediately: “Beiwang asked for a leave of one week. Anything happened to her?” Zhong Shaoting is not so kind as to worry others like Ding, so he says gently: “Her family doesn’t treat her well. Perhaps she leaves for her family problem. Or maybe she really feels uncomfortable.” Finding Ding Manman is still distressed, Zhong Shaoting gives a sigh and starts to give her a massage: “You two are good friends, so you should trust each other. She will come back a week later, why not ask her then?” Hearing Zhong’s comforting words, Ding Manman feels her worry is blown away by a soft wind. Thinking about how she gets along with Bai Beiwang during these days, she decides to put her worry aside and seek her answer when Bai comes back. But Bai Beiwang, who stumbled out of the company after asking for a leave, felt a pain in her heart. After all, it is she who betrayed her friend and her beloved. But whenever she wanted to give up revenge, she remembered her brother’s tears.
