Time moves quickly.
The end of the year was drawing near, and in order for Thea to fulfill her work obligations, she was required to attend a number of charity and celebrity events.
As a result, she was forced to request time off from the director.
Even though she finally had a few days off, she couldn’t skip Jessica’s wedding because she had already made plans.
What she did not anticipate was that things would go wrong once more before she could finish preparing the dress for the wedding day.
Before that day, rumors began to circulate online, suggesting that the child Jessica was carrying was not, in fact, Shawn’s child and that the baby was rather someone else’s.
Someone even posted the DNA test paper, which helped bolster the story’s overall plausibility.
Thea immediately placed a call to Jessica, but Jessica did not even bother to pick up the phone when it rang. In the end, she was powerless to avoid making contact with Jessica’s agency and did so.
On the other end of the phone, the man came across as hopeless and dejected. But, in the end, he conceded that the rumors circulating on the internet were genuine.
The wedding had been canceled, and Jessica had gone missing for two days. No one knew where she was right now. “But… How did that happen? I thought everything was okay.” Thea was curious.
The agent didn’t want to hide anything since he was speaking to Thea Todd. He sighed deeply, “Yeah… Everything was fine. Jessica even told me that she had solved those problems with Anna and there wouldn’t be any issues between them anymore after that day when she came back from dinner. However, a couple of days later, Shawn suddenly went crazy. He almost hauled Jessica into his car and took her to the hospital to do the DNA test. Jessica had a huge fight with him. But to make Shawn less suspicious and marry into his family. She still did that test. And it turned out the baby was not Shawn’s at all.”
Thea took a huge gasp, “But… The hospital could be wrong. I mean…”
The agent continued, “Jessica also thought the hospital was wrong. She did three tests after that, and they all suggested that the baby’s father was not Shawn.”
Thea was getting more confused, “If the baby is not Shawn’s, how come Jessica was the last one to know? It doesn’t make any sense.”
“I know,” The agent sounded desperate, “Shawn went so mad after hearing the truth. After Jessica came back, he was looking for evidence everywhere. And he really found out something.”
“What evidence?” Thea frowned, “The evidence of Jessica cheating?”
“Sort of,” The agent said, “It’s a video. The video showed that Jessica was with a man that day. And that man is an escort.”
Holy…
Thea almost said that out loud.
“Actually, to become Shawn’s wife, Jessica had a plan. She didn’t tell me, and she went to that hotel that day, thinking that she would sleep with Shawn. However, someone clearly set her up with an escort. What scared me the most is that…” The agent took in a deep breath, “Why did Shawn suddenly decide to do this test right now? I mean… right before the week before their wedding? It’s horrible.”
Thea shuddered to think about the whole thing.
Shawn’s whole family must be involved in this.
“Thea, you tried to help Jessica. Could you help her again? We can’t find her. Her family is going crazy. Could you please try to find her for us? I don’t want her to do anything reckless.” The agent sounded desperate.
The agent couldn’t explain his feelings for this artist of his. Jessica was a talented girl, probably the most talented he had ever signed. But she always wanted the shortcut. In the end, she just sent herself to hell. It was really no one’s fault.
Thea was simply afraid after hearing the whole thing, but she knew that she couldn’t refuse to go through with it. It must be very difficult right now for Jessica’s family. She acknowledged this with a nod and said, “Okay… I’ll try to find her if I can.”
Thea continued to have feelings of sadness even after she had hung up the phone. The Lee family was such a complete and utter disaster. They would only need to convey to their son that they did not approve of him marrying Jessica. Why was it necessary for them to treat that poor girl in such a manner?
Thea reclined further in her chair as she contemplated the situation and tried to come up with a name for the organization that would be useful in situations such as locating a missing person.
And at that point, there was a knock at the door, and Daisy entered the room.
“Thea… I’ve got some bad news.”
Thea leaned forward and buried her face in her hands as she spoke. “I know,” she whispered, “Jessica went missing, right? Her representative just gave me a call.”
“No…” Daisy’s face was flushed as she said, “I just heard… They found Jessica’s body in the river.”
“What?! Where is Jessica’s body?” Thea jumped up quickly and out of her seat.
It just so happened that Cody walked in at that precise moment.
Thea stepped out into the hallway and grabbed Cody by the arm, saying, “Cody, I just heard about Jessica… Do you mean… Is that really the case?”
Cody shot Daisy a blaming look.
Daisy quickly averted her attention and exited the room.
“Yes,” Cody whirled around to face Thea and said, “She has passed away.”
Thea was shocked beyond belief. “But… how…” That is what she asked.
Cody cleared his throat before continuing, “Aside from that,” he said, “Anna was taken to the hospital late last night.”
“Hospital?” Thea’s jaw gaped open in surprise.
Cody pulled out his phone, clicked on the video app, and displayed the screen for Thea to see.
The video’s poor quality was really disappointing. However, Thea was still able to distinguish Anna and Jessica from the image.
