Thea was so annoyed. She made her mind up secretly that she wouldn’t allow John to harass her Mom and Granny again.
She couldn’t even hide her anger when she went to the site that day. When she was off the camera, she was constantly pulling a face. Cody came to the crew to visit her in a hurry.
Thea noticed the unfamiliar emotions burning under his eyes. She didn’t know why he looked like that. She approached Cody, trying to ask him what had happened.
The next thing she knew; however, she was pulled into a tight hug. “C-Cody?” Thea was surprised. Everyone on the crew was watching. What the heck was he doing?
“Cody? Are you okay?” Thea pushed him gently, and Cody finally took a step back.
Keeping his distance, Cody looked intensely at her. How he looked at her was so different, which actually freaked Thea out a bit.
“Cody, are you alright?”
Cody tried to steady his breath before letting out a smile, “Sorry… Just missed you.”
Did he miss her?
Thea was a bit scared. But she still forced out a smile, “Why are you missing me?”
Luckily, there were not so many people on this crew who knew who Cody actually was. Or there would be rumors everywhere.
Thea could tell that Cody was trying to calm himself down. So she kept silent.
When Cody finally calmed down, he then asked, “How long is the shooting gonna last again?”
“It’s hard to say. 5 or 6 hours probably,” Thea answered, “Cody, why did you come here today? You haven’t even answered my question yet.”
“Well… it’s…” Cody knew he couldn’t tell Thea the truth so abruptly. He didn’t want to scare her, “I heard Daisy say you are not in your best state today. So I dropped by to check you out. What happened?”
“Oh.” Thea’s lips set in a thin line, “Just something happened in my family.”
Family?
Did her mother tell her that she was actually adopted?
But Thea didn’t look like she knew anything.
Then what happened to her exactly?
Cody wanted to ask, but the director had already summoned Thea away. Cody watched by the side for a while and decided to ask Daisy to see if she knew more.
This scene was a fighting scene. Thea wore a black mask, jumping up and down in wires as she fought her enemies in the cameras. Her moves were neat and beautiful. The director was smiling and nodding as he looked at the monitors.
Thea was still quite angry about what happened to Mom. She treated all her enemies as John Gordon, imagining that she was kicking his ass.
As she took out her anger on the camera, the effect of those shots was pretty good.
After the scene, Thea couldn’t even lift her arms. Her clothes were soaked in sweat.
When she returned to her trailer, her Mom was waiting for her there like always. She had made her some hot drinks to warm her up. And then, the stylists and makeup artists came in. Thea had to put her new dress and makeup on for the next scene.
Grace knew Cody was on site now. So she sneaked out of the trailer when Thea was still busy with her style.
Cody saw Grace from a distance, and he instantly walked up. Grace, however, spoke up before he could say anything, “Mr. Bradley, I know why you’re here today. But could you please not tell Thea for now? I will tell her when I get the chance. You also don’t want to affect her performance during work, do you?”
Cody actually wanted to say something else. But the worry in Grace’s eyes was heartbreaking. He thus didn’t say anything and left.
“Grandpa… Please don’t be mad anymore. I didn’t want to tell Grace… But Fritzi just got a bit too excited.” Drew explained to his Grandpa. The old man was sitting in his chair, pulling a face.
The silence in the study room was long and painful. After a couple of minutes, Mr. Weston finally opened his mouth, “Grace and her mother lost their restaurant for Demi. They were even kicked out of their own house because they wanted to protect the girl. The two women raised Demi up. We will always owe them a great debt. I told you to take it slow. Are you trying to give the poor woman a heart attack by telling her this so abruptly?”
“I’m so sorry, Grandpa,” Fritzi said carefully.
“You two have to listen to me. If Grace doesn’t like this, you need to keep it a secret forever, “Mr. Weston said.
“Grandpa, what do you mean? Demi is my daughter. I can’t even tell her this fact now?” Fritzi looked like she was about to cry.
“I never said you can’t tell her, Fritzi,” Mr. Weston looked at the woman, “But you need to take care of Grace’s feelings. Grace needs time. Demi also needs time.”
“I know I was wrong, Grandpa,” Fritzi sniffed, “Could you please be the one who tells Demi? You know how to talk to the girl. Neither my husband nor I can pull this off without getting too excited. I know it will be difficult, but could you please do us a favor?”
Mr. Weston thought for a while and finally nodded, “Fine. I will tell the girl little by little when I find the right chance.”
Fritzi and Drew exchanged an excited look. They both couldn’t wait.
After the shooting of the day was over, Thea was ready to look for John to sort things out. However, before she could leave her house, Grace suddenly appeared and stopped her.
“Mom? What are you doing?”
“You don’t need to be there anymore, sweetie. The matter has been solved.”
“Solved?” Thea was suspicious, “By who?”
“By your boss,” Grace lied, “He made a phone call and sent his lawyers. Everything’s okay now.”
“Really? Everything has been fixed?” Thea squinted her eyes. That did sound like Cody’s way of handling things.
She just wished her Mom wasn’t lying.
Thea didn’t say anything when she went back to her bedroom. But she had secretly decided to send Daisy out to figure out the whole thing.
