Linford smiled sarcastically. “What? You can’t restore my memories that soon? Get a bit rusty on your hypnosis skills?”
Drew rolled his eyes and took out a pocket watch, “First thing first, don’t get freaked out later. Candace and Cody are still outside. If you act like a madman in front of them, it will probably traumatize them deeply. I can’t hold you still alone this time.”
“Don’t worry. I will control myself,” Linford promised as he lay down on the sofa.
“Follow the pendulum of my watch… And you’re gradually feeling very sleepy. Close your eyes, one, two, three.”
A minute of silence occurred, and Drew continued, “Describe what you see.”
“I saw darkness… And a door….”
“Go ahead and push open the door. What do you see right now?”
“Lights… Bright lights… It seems like I’m attending a ball. A lot of people are in a splendid hall.”
“Did anyone catch your eyes?”
“Yes. I see a woman. She’s wearing a fancy dress and holding a cocktail glass. It’s Mrs. Barnett…” Mrs. Barnett seemed like she didn’t notice Linford at all. But the nervous look on her face definitely caught Linford’s eyes.
When she turned around and walked into a secret room outside of the hall, Linford followed her.
“Ma’am, we’ve got the Friesley girl in the guest room already. She’s showering. She thought she was waiting for your son.” The sturdy man mentioned.
“Good. Mr. Johnson already can’t wait. Go bring him there,” Mrs. Barnett smiled evilly, “Hurry. Don’t make him wait.”
The Friesley girl?
As far as Linford knew, Isaac Friesley had two daughters. Which one of them were they talking about?
They said Isaac had given some of the evidence he had to one of his girls. This could be an important clue. Linford didn’t think much as he followed the sturdy man secretly.
Before that man could enter the room, Linford suddenly appeared from behind and knocked the man unconscious. He hid the man behind the door and walked in. He could hear the sound of splashing water when he got to the bedroom.
Someone was showering.
“Diego?” A sweet voice called from the glass room. Linford could see a silhouette of a beautiful body through the fuzzy glass. He suddenly realized how inappropriate it was to get in this room.
Linford looked away, blushing.
“Diego? Is that you? Could you get me the towel?” The voice asked again. A small soft hand poked out of the ajar door of the glass shower room.
Linford took in a deep breath and grabbed the towel nearby before placing it in her hand.
He walked over to the chair near the window and slumped onto it. This Friesley girl must know something. What must he say to get the evidence?
Linford’s head was a mess as he grabbed the glass of wine on the table and gulped it down.
However, involuntary hotness rushed down to his abdomen a couple of minutes later after he drank the wine. He suddenly realized the wine was prepared for whoever was in the shower at this moment, and it was drugged.
Linford wanted to leave the room. But the voice that came through the door alerted him.
“I’ve searched every room on this floor. But I didn’t search for this one yet.”
“Are you out of your fucking mind? Mrs. Barnett said Mr. Johnson was having fun inside this room. If you dare to break in and interrupt his glorious fun, he will probably kill you…”
“But…”
“But what? If you don’t want your job, I still want mine. Go away!”
Were those people searching for him? Did they find out his plan?
Linford went nervous as he went to the door and locked it from the innermost.
The woman in the shower happened to walk out at this time, “Diego? Are you there?”
Linford clenched his teeth and turned off the lights instantly.
The girl yelped, “Why are you turning off the lights? You know I’m scared of darkness. Come on, Diego. Turn on the lights. This is not funny.”
Linford swallowed as the heat in his body wreaked havoc in his system. He stumbled forward, and the soft body happened to stumble into him.
He could smell the sweet scent of her shampoo.
“Diego… What the heck are you doing? Hmm?!”
He knew he couldn’t let the woman make any sound, or those men would probably break in. So he covered her mouth. Cristelle was numbed and scared against his body. But she thought this was Diego, so she trusted him entirely.
She didn’t even freak out when she felt the gentle kisses along her neck.
After a long night, Linford finally climbed off the bed nakedly. When the first ray of sunlight hit Cristelle through the crack of the curtains, he finally got to see her beautiful face.
Linford leaned forward, kissed her forehead, and whispered to her ear when her eyes were still shut, “Wait for me.”
After that, he put on his clothes and left the room.
Linford dialed a number and called his brother. However, before he could say anything, he just passed out as someone hit his head from behind.
Linford heard Mr. Johnson’s voice in a blur. Mr. Johnson was gone mad as Linford took the woman prepared for him.
“What about that woman?”
“Her virginity was taken away. I’m not interested anymore. Throw her out.”
Linford could feel someone kicking his side boldly.
“What about the boy? What did he find?”
“He got everything on his phone. I’ve destroyed it.”
Mr. Johnson laughed coldly, “Throw him into the sea and feed him to sharks. The old man’s grandsons won’t listen. I can only send them to heaven one by one.”
This man killed Clyde!
When Linford woke up again, all his memories were gone. He couldn’t remember anything.
He went crazy and smashed everything he could lay his hands on, but he still couldn’t restore his sealed memories. Losing Clyde destroyed Linford. It took him a long while to finally recover from the trauma.
After going through those traumatic events, Linford seemed to grow up overnight. From the wealthy boy he used to be, he became a successful businessman and made Daicom Corporation the biggest company in the city.
However, he still couldn’t stop feeling there was a bigger scheme behind the fog of his long-lost memories.
But he didn’t have the time to think about any of that as his business got bigger.
Until that day, a woman broke into his view. The feeling she brought to him was extremely familiar.
A familiar scent squeezed in his head, drawing his attention when she met Cristelle at Drew’s office. That was why he asked, “Miss Friesley, have we seen each other somewhere before?”
