Darwin panicked as well. He sent his man immediately. “Go, get Frank! Go find him immediately!”
His men went to find the doctor quickly.
Cristelle took Linford to the living room. Claire was doing everything she could to stop Linford from bleeding.
“It’s okay. Don’t cry, and it didn’t reach into my heart. You also heard Claire saying that. I’ll be fine,” Linford tried to comfort the woman.
But the pain in Cristelle’s chest only cut shaper.
She had so many things to tell him at this moment, but she couldn’t say a word.
She could only try to press his wounds as Claire instructed.
Frank came quite soon. He also brought everything he needed with him.
Telling Claire to stay as his assistant, Frank shooed everyone out and used the parlor as the operating room. In the end, he finally took the bullet out.
Darwin had never been this angry before.
Why was this son of his keep getting the family in trouble?
Why did he have to fall for that witch?
Did he still care about the reputation of the family or not?
Darwin’s phone suddenly started to buzz, and he picked up the call.
It was Enzo.
“How’s everything going over there, Dad?” Enzo asked. He thought Linford had gone to find the babies. But this sneaky little brother of his used a serving helicopter without his permission.
And he got that helicopter under their Grandpa’s name.
Franco’s power was beyond comparison. None of his grandsons ever dared to misuse his power this way. Linford was the first one.
Darwin clenched his teeth, “He’s in the city. Just bring Candace and Cody back, and we can discuss everything else later.”
Enzo instantly realized that Cristelle hadn’t left yet. He hung up the phone, and his eyes went dark.
Linford was more difficult to fool than before.
This plan was actually Enzo and Franco’s idea. They had already known where Lana hid the babies.
After ensuring the babies were safe, they decided to transfer them to another place without telling Linford.
So Linford would go find the babies. They could stall Linford while transferring Cristelle away. They even let Lana get into the mansion to complete the mission. But now, everything has drastically changed.
Drew was still chasing that little boat on the sea. But when they finally forced that boat to stop, there were only three sailors on board. Candace and Cody were nowhere to be found.
What the heck was happening?
Drew was a bit panicked. He called Linford immediately.
Linford just got his wounds taken care of, and his phone started buzzing, but Cristelle grabbed it away.
“Cristelle, come on, give me the phone,” Linford asked gently.
Cristelle shook her head, “I don’t want you to worry about anything anymore. Come on, Linford. You need to get some sleep.”
Linford pulled her hand, rubbing the back of her hand with his thumb, “It’s okay. It should be Drew. I only want to know what happened to his task.”
Cristelle could only give the phone back to “Linford! Listen, I didn’t find Candace and Cody on the boat. We’ve been fooled! Those bastards!” Drew sounded furious.
Linford was lying on his bed, his voice was calm, “It’s okay. Candace and Cody have been taken to a safer spot. Just call Enzo, and he will tell you where the babies are.”
Drew arched an eyebrow. So this man had secretly gotten everything under his control again.
He didn’t like being treated like a fool, but he was so glad that the problem had been solved, “So, you’ve already predicted that this moment would occur? Why didn’t you tell me? You left so abruptly. I thought something bad happened to Cristelle.”
Linford explained the whole situation to Drew briefly.
They chatted for a short while, and Linford just hung up the phone.
Claire and Frank had left. Linford and Cristelle were the only ones left in the room. Cristelle took the phone, knowing the babies were safe. The look on her face was less nervous, “Linford, come on. You need to get some rest now.”
Linford just stared at her without any words.
Cristelle dropped her gaze, blushing.
“Why did you want to leave?” Linford suddenly asked, sounding sad.
Cristelle shook her head, hesitant to explain.
He knew why she decided to leave. He was slightly pissed off that Cristelle didn’t believe him at all.
But he still couldn’t bring himself to be mad at her for too long.
“Don’t you ever attempt to leave me again,” Linford ordered stubbornly, “Do you understand?”
Cristelle gently nodded.
Her eyes were still red, and it broke Linford’s heart to see her suffer like this. His voice thus softened, patting the bedside, “Come over here, Cristelle.”
Cristelle leaned forward, and Linford just pulled her into a passionate kiss.
Cristelle was startled. She tried to pull away, but she didn’t want to hurt him again. So she just let him do whatever he wanted. Shel felt a bit dizzy after the kiss. Linford pulled her in and let her rest her head on his arm, “If you dare to run away from me, Cristelle Friesley, I will go find you even if I have to turn the world upside down.” He kissed her hair as he rasped.

Meanwhile, Darwin had gone to Franco’s house.
He was both anxious and angry, “Dad, Cristelle hadn’t left. I tried hard, but Linford just jumped out of nowhere, and he…”
Franco had understood everything even before Darwin could finish his sentence.
“What else should we do?” Darwin asked desperately.
“Nothing,” Franco shook his head, “If we didn’t manage to let her leave this city today, we wouldn’t be able to make her go in the future. Now, you just need to find a way to protect the Friesley sisters.”
“WHAT?! Protect them? Why?!” Darwin couldn’t believe what he had just heard. He hated Cristelle’s guts. Why should he protect her and her sister?
Franco shook his head, sighing. “From now on, the Friesley girls and we are on the same boat. Those people will know what happened today after Linford caught a bullet for Cristelle. It will be no use hiding anything by this time. We should just accept the fact and try to protect Cristelle and her sister as best as we can.”
