Meanwhile, in Linford’s office. Linford was sitting behind his desk, pulling a face.
Drew stood beside him, looking worried.
Alfred had never been a careless person.
How could he just disappear?
“I saw the surveillance video on the road. Alfred took the babies to a bakery they should pass by. And they never came out after that. We’ve searched the bakery, but we didn’t find any strange traces there.” Drew sounded worried, “Did Cody run away again?”
Linford shook his head, “The boy knew it would be no use to do that. He’s smarter than what we think.”
“Then who could have taken them away? They must be in danger right now.” Drew was pacing back and forth.
“We’ve already had our suspect, Drew,” Linford narrowed his eyes.
The White House was undoubtedly the only family with the motivation and capability to do such an abduction.
“They can’t be that dumb, can they?” Drew gave Linford a questioning look.
“Well, none of us know what they’re thinking.” Linford grabbed his coat, “Leak this news to Mrs. White. Let’s see her reaction to it.”
“Wh-where are you going?” Drew hastened to follow behind.
“To the police station. I need to see Charles immediately.”

Mrs. White broke into Lana’s bedroom. Her voice was so sharp that it got a bit scary,
“What the heck do you want, Lana?! Do you really think Linford would still marry you after you kidnapped the twins? Linford Bradley will kill you if anything happens to the babies!”
Lana looked scared, “Granny… Wh-what are you talking about? I didn’t do anything.”
“Stop treating me like a fool! You’re the only one who’s capable of doing this act!” Mrs. White knew her granddaughter too well. “I know you’re just being stupid. It’s still not too late yet. Go, release the babies right now before things get even worse!”
Lana looked terrified. She put one hand on her belly and asked, “What are you talking about, Granny? I really don’t understand it.”
Mrs. White hissed, “Stop pretending! If anything happens to the babies, you will never be able to marry Linford Bradley again!”
With that, the old lady just whipped around and left.
Lana closed the door before she pulled out her phone.
Thinking for a while, she thumbed out a message, “Keep a close eye on them. Don’t let them escape!” And then, she took out the SIM card and flushed it down the toilet.

Meanwhile, on a boat floating in the river.
Alfred and the babies were tied up by ropes with their eyes blinded.
Alfred was the first one who woke up. He panicked as he found out that he couldn’t move.
Alfred’s heart sunk into his chest horribly. He had taken the babies to the bakery to get some goodies on their way back home, but the group of men took them away.
He barely remembered anything after he was wrestled behind. And where were they right now? Why did he feel the ground strongly shake?
“Cody? Candace? Where are you guys?” He sounded scared.
“Alfred?” Cody’s voice rang. The boy sounded nearby, “Is that you?” Alfred dislodged and felt the small figure of the boy’s body.
“I think we’ve been kidnapped.” The boy murmured nervously.
Alfred swallowed, “It’s okay. Your father will come to save us. Where’s Candace?”
“She’s still sleeping.”
“Are you okay? Do you feel any pain?”
“I’m fine. Alfred, we need to get out of here.” Cody squirmed against the ground so he could move next to Alfred.
“Okay. I got a pocket knife in my coat pocket. Could you fetch that for me?” Alfred calmly asked.
“No problem. Could you turn a bit?” It took the boy a while to finally find the knife. Cody cut off the ropes on Alfred’s hands so he could take off the blindfold on his eyes to save Alfred from the darkness.
When Alfred finally opened his eyes, Cody was still cutting the ropes on Candace’s hands.
The little girl was still sleeping. She only stirred when Cody took the fold off, “Cody? Where are we?”
“Hush!” Cody held her in his arms tightly. “Don’t be scared, and be very quiet.”
Candace nodded obediently, shivering.
Alfred had stood up. He felt relieved as he noticed the babies were unharmed, “You guys didn’t feel any pain anywhere, right?”
Candace shook her head, “I’m a bit sleepy.”
Cody sighed, “Alfred, how should we escape here?”
“Where are we right now?” Alfred looked around nervously.
“I think we are on a boat. I can hear the sea waves outside. And the space is suffocating. The boat shakes vigorously. I bet this boat is pretty small. Cody analyzed.
“We’re on a boat?” Candace sounded a bit scared, “How are we gonna get out of here?”
Alfred turned around and looked closely. “There must be a way out. Or how did they jam us in this place earlier? We can leave once I find the entrance.”
Cody believed those people must have sent men to guard the entrance. They wouldn’t get out so easily.
But he still went to help Alfred to find anything that looked like a way out. This cabin didn’t even have any windows. And the wall seemed to be made of iron. They would suffocate if they stayed in this enclosed space too long.
Alfred touched everywhere, and then he finally touched the door, “I found it! I think this is it! Just wait. We can leave here after I open the door.”
“I don’t think we should do that, Alfred.” Cody sat back next to Candace, “I bet it can only be opened from the outside. Besides, someone must be there guarding the door. We will be in danger if you open the door sooner.”
Alfred only aimed to leave this place with the twins, “It’s okay. Don’t be scared. I will protect you both.”
Alfred held the knife and tried to pry the door open. The screeching of metal was loud.
Cody frowned and covered Candace’s ears.
The metal was quite solid. Alfred failed to get the door open. His hand also started to bleed as he used too much strength. Alfred went extremely frustrated as he threw the knife away.
“Is anyone out there?” The assistant started to bang on the door, “Let us go! Let us go, and we will give you anything you want!”
Cody could hear the cold wind blowing outside, but no one made any response.
“Somebody out there?!” Alfred didn’t give up.
