“You’re saying such things to us just for Cristelle Friesley? If you want to do a DNA test again, just feel free to do that. But you need to remember Linford Bradley. I won’t let you walk away free after treating my granddaughter that way. Lana has done DNA tests twice. I won’t let you humiliate her again!” Mrs. White was extremely pissed off. She turned to Franco. “You only have two months to deal with this. Two months later, Lana’s belly will swell. If you insist on disowning this baby, I will let her give birth to the baby in our house. If you can sleep with a result like that, just feel free to abandon your responsibility.”
Franco looked embarrassed. At first, he had secretly hoped that the baby in Lana’s belly was not Linford’s. He didn’t expect it to turn out like this.
So he turned to his grandson, “Linford, you don’t need to do more DNA tests. We can trust Drew, can’t we? Why don’t you marry Lana? I will send Cristelle to Europe. Don’t worry. She will live a cozy life out there. As for Cody and Candace, they will stay with us since they were both Bradley members. I will take care of them.”
Lana was quite satisfied with this suggestion, glancing at Linford.
She wished Linford could be less stubborn. She had a better origin than that woman.
Why couldn’t he just choose her?
Mr. Weston sighed. Whatever the excuse they would use, the babies would definitely accept the result.
Drew also sighed because there was nothing he could do.
Linford’s brow jumped, “Pop, you know I would never accept this. Lana MUST do the DNA test again.”
THUD!
Mrs. White knocked her cup of tea against the table, “Bradley! Are you really gonna treat our family with such disrespect?”
“I’m not trying to be rude,” Linford said coolly, “I just don’t want to make any mistakes.”
Drew cut in, “Mrs. White, Linford, and I have been friends for decades. I have to admit that he messed around a lot when he was younger. But after what happened to Clyde, he just doesn’t act like before. Besides, he now has his wife and babies. He will never do such nasty actions. Not to mention doing anything like that to Lana. We all know that he’s only treating Lana as a…”
He didn’t continue because everyone knew what he was trying to say.
Lana had been quite close to Clyde when they were young. Linford adored his second brother. Why would he ever touch a woman his second brother liked?
“But a fact is a fact. Lana is pregnant. I don’t need to hear any arguments anymore. I just want a result,” Mrs. White couldn’t care less.
“Ann,” Mr. Weston cleared his throat, “I know you’re angry. But Drew has a point. Don’t you think the whole thing happened abruptly? It just doesn’t make any sense!”
“Lana’s got a baby in her. What kind of sense are you spouting now? I know you are aligned with the Bradley House. I don’t want to hear your opinion,” Mrs. White huffed.
“There’s no need to get mad. Just let them do that test again. If it’s still the same result, we don’t need to argue this way anymore. Besides, if it is a fact, you also don’t need to be afraid of the third test..
“Mr. Weston tried to persuade her.
“You think I’ll be afraid of that? Are you trying to provoke me? You asked Lana to do that again, and we just need to do that again. What kind of humiliation is this? You can’t bully my granddaughter like that!” Mrs. White refused to let them get what they wanted.
“If you refuse to do that, Mrs. White, then I shall refuse to fulfill any of my responsibilities,” Linford showed no fear.
Mrs. White had never been so pissed off before. She let out a cold laugh before she turned to stare at Franco, “Look at this wonderful grandchild of yours, Franco. Good for you. Good for you, indeed. Fine! If you’re so fearless, we will be less concerned as well. Lana, let’s go.”
Franco was so anxious, but Linford didn’t even budge.
Mr. Weston walked forth, “Ann, you need to calm down. We’re here today to discuss things, right? It’s only rational if we can peacefully work out a result.”
“Does Linford look like he wants to discuss the whole thing rationally? I don’t think so. I know what you people are thinking. Do you think we don’t have the gut to expose the whole thing to the media? Well, let me tell you. You’re completely WRONG! I’ll publish the whole thing when I go back. I bet people will have their own judgment then,” Mrs. White pulled at Lana’s hand and was ready to leave.
Everyone looked at Linford, waiting for him to make a compromise.
Linford didn’t even look in Mrs. White’s way, “I still stick to my requirement. Lana needs to do a test again.”
He was sure Lana wouldn’t give up on the opportunity to marry him. She would never let the chance slip away.
Just as Linford expected, Lana fell on her knees before Mrs. White, “Grandma! Grandma! Listen… I would like to do that test again. I will do that.”
“You! YOU! How shameless!” Mrs. White bit out as she raised her hand, slapping Lana across her face, “Are you out of your goddamn mind, Lana?! Get the heck up on your feet right now! Is Linford Bradley the only man on earth alive?! How could you lower yourself to such a humble state? Are you still my granddaughter?!”
Mrs. White was both angry and disappointed.
“Grandma! There are a lot of men in this world but Linford is the only one I love. I really want to be with him. I trust him. If we can prove the baby is his, he will definitely marry me.” Lana’s eyes welled up with tears, but she sounded so sure, “Granny, please, just one last time. Let me do the DNA test.”
Mrs. White’s face closed up. Lana turned to look at Linford with those tearful eyes, “Linford, just one last time. If I can prove the baby is yours again, will you marry me?”
Linford didn’t even want to look at her, his tone rigid and perfunctory. “Okay.”
Mrs. White looked like she could faint.
Franco sighed, “Just one last chance, Ann. We all need to fix this problem as soon as possible, don’t we?”
Mrs. White closed her eyes. Then, after a long silence, the old lady finally clenched her teeth, “Fine!”
