Linford’s eyes were determined as he repeated, “Would you marry me?”
Cristelle took a step back, her face as red as tomatoes. She didn’t know how to answer this question. Everything happened too suddenly.
The giant ruby on the ring was twinkling under the light. Linford had had this ring prepared a long time ago. But he hadn’t mustered the courage to pull out the question because he thought Cristelle was not ready.
However, today, after what had happened on the road, he just felt that he couldn’t wait anymore.
“My grandma left this to me. I’ve waited for this moment for so long. I think it suits you very much,” Linford smiled at her as he pulled at her hand and slipped the ring onto her slim finger.
“I knew it would look beautiful on you,” Linford left a kiss on her hand.
Cristelle shuddered as she felt the tenderness of his lips on her hand, pulling back her hand instantly, “Stop this, Linford. It’s not funny.”
“I’m being serious,” Linford stood up as he looked her in the eyes, “We have two lovely twins. We should get married. Why are you pushing me away, Cristelle? Or do you have someone else on your mind?”
“No!” Cristelle answered immediately, but she soon started to blush again, “But… This is too fast. Besides, my parents…”
“I love you, Cristelle. I don’t care about your past,” Linford’s eyes were deep and sincere.
Looking at his handsome face, Cristelle could tell that the man was seriously proposing to her. Cristelle was stunned and unable to speak.
She dropped her gaze, “But… Cody still hasn’t accepted you. I can’t do this without making them feel comfortable. You know how much I care for our babies.”
Linford frowned, “He will agree one day as long as you want to be with me. Cristelle, I promise you that no one can stand in our way. I’m asking you right now, yes or no. Don’t run from this, Cristelle, please.”
“I…” Cristelle was hesitant.
However, before she could spit out a coherent sentence, the doorbell downstairs suddenly started to ring.
To Cristelle, the doorbell sounded like music from heaven right now. She looked at the door, “Someone’s coming.”
“Cristelle, don’t run from this,” Linford frowned.
However, before he could stop Cristelle, she suddenly ran out of the door and went downstairs.
Lily was the one who held the door open.
A big smile broke Cristelle’s face as she saw the guests, “Mrs. Watson? Welcome. Please come in.”
“I was watching TV with Amy and Thomas back at home and saw the news about you and the babies. I just want to come here and check out on you guys. I hope I didn’t interrupt you.” Helena seemed a bit shy as she walked into the door, one hand holding Amy’s little one. Thomas was following behind.
Cristelle smiled, “Of course, you’re not interrupting us. The babies will be thrilled. Please come in.”
And then, Cristelle turned around and called the babies, “Candace! Cody! Come out. You won’t believe who came to visit.”
Candace ran out of her room first. She squealed and dashed forward, giving Amy a big hug.
She held Amy’s and Thomas’s hands and led them to the playroom. When she walked past Cody’s room, she shouted, “Cody, come out. Amy and Thomas are here!”
Franco had seen the Watson twins. He liked kids. Candace and Cody seemed so happy when they played with their little fellas. And that fact made Franco even happier. He secretly decided that he would invite the babies’ friends to this house more often.
Cristelle brought Helena to Franco so she could greet the old man. The Watson House and the Bradley House were friends for generations. Franco had already known Helena, but they didn’t contact each other very often.
After speaking with Pop for a while, Cristelle took Helena to the parlor so they could have a cup of tea together.
Linford also came out of his room and talked with the ladies. Helena was surprised that Linford was still at home after so many things had happened. She thought he would be at the company and handle the PR first. But it turned out he chose to stay at home and be with his wife and babies.
This was what you called a loving husband.
Helena smiled back as Linford smiled at her. Linford sat down on the couch, “Frank is still in Africa, right?”
“The job there is gonna be over soon. Frank said they would be back in about one month,” Helena answered.
Cristelle’s eyes lit up, “Really? So they will be back in October?”
Helena nodded.
Cristelle tried to make herself sound less enthusiastic, but she failed, “Would you mind informing me when they come back?”
Helena cast a look at Linford, noticing Linford’s eyes were on Cristelle all the time. She thus nodded, “Of course. I’ll call you when Frank is back.”
“Thank you,” Cristelle was so excited that she wanted to jump up from her seat. One month. Only one month and she could see her sister again.
She hoped Claire wouldn’t hide from her this time.
The meal was ready soon. Everyone went to the dining room and sat down around the long table.
The babies were so happy to hang out and enjoy the meal together. They couldn’t stop laughing and talking. Linford loved the short yet perfect family time so much. However, Lana just had to call him at that moment.
Linford almost rolled his eyes at the call. But he knew when he left the company, and he also left a lot of issues waiting to be dealt with. He knew he didn’t have another option except to accept the call.
So he stood up from his seat and went to the parlor.
Cody was pretty suspicious. So he followed secretly.
“Linford, it’s me. Are you okay?” Lana sounded concerned from the other side of the line.
Linford sounded pretty aloof, “Cristelle’s the one who got caught in the middle of the accident. Why are you asking me?”
“Oh.” Lana went a bit awkward, “How are Cristelle and the babies then?”
“They’re perfectly fine,” Linford took a pause, “We’re in the middle of a meal. I’m hanging up the phone if you don’t have anything else to tell me.”
“Wait, don’t hang up,” Lana begged, “Can I go to your place and take a look? I really want to see you right now because I’m so worried.”
