They went back to the hall after getting changed. Finally, the host announced the rankings of the performances.
The rankings were based on the votes. Cristelle could feel the girl’s little hands squeezing hers as Mrs. Weston announced the rankings.
Cristelle didn’t care if they were going to win, but their performance ranking seemed really important to her daughter.
Cristelle squeezed her daughter’s hand, trying to tell her to relax.
Betty White won first place. She went onto the stage, smiling proudly. She was a pretty little girl. Today, she wore a pink dress, making her look like a little princess.
When she got the flower bouquet, she looked down the stage at Cody. But Cody was talking to Candace. He didn’t even look at her even though she won. Betty was a bit disappointed, but she didn’t let it show.
Amy and Thomas won fourth place. They both started to jump up and down and clap as Mrs. Weston announced their names.
Candace looked more excited than them, “Awesome! Fourth place! Good job!”
Amy hugged Candace and ran toward the stage.
Candace couldn’t take her eyes away from the stage as Mrs. Weston announced the fifth place. Her eyes were as wide as saucers.
Linford faintly smiled as he noticed how much Candace cared about the competition. He didn’t even want a ranking. But Candace seemed to be caring about the result a lot.
“Cody Bradley and Candace Bradley have won the fifth place!” Mrs. Weston announced proudly, looking at the kids.
In fact, the Bradley family got the highest vote. However, considering Betty’s competitive personality, Mrs. Weston still decided to give first place to Betty.
“Us! Mom! Us!” Candace pointed at the stage, smiling excitedly.
She was so happy after hearing their names.
Cody could care less, but he still managed to look happy, “Yay! The fifth place! You did a great job, Candace.”
Candace blushed. She had been so nervous when she got on the stage. She thought they wouldn’t win any top rankings.
“Cody, Candace, come up with your parents,” Mrs. Weston urged.
“Mom, up,” Candace looked at Cristelle excitedly.
Linford went to Candace’s side and grabbed her little hand, “Let’s go.”
The girl looked up, smiling sweetly at her Dad.
“Only the fifth place? I thought they would be the winner.” Fritzi sounded a bit disappointed, feeling suspicious. Everyone near her seat almost voted for the Bradley family.
How come Betty White just became the winner?
Drew shook his head and smiled, knowing Linford would rather be low-key than a show-off.
Mrs. Weston asked all the parents to come up to the stage and take a photo together.
After that, the parents were free to go because the babies still had to finish the first day of class.
“Be good in school. We’re going back now. Don’t forget to share all the candies you won with other kids, okay?” Cristelle said before she left.
Candace didn’t want her Mom to leave, but Amy was beside her, so she was less scared, “Mom, will you pick us up later?”
“Of course,” Cristelle nodded.
“With Dad,” Candace added.
Before Cristelle could say anything, Linford had already crouched down and given Candace a hug, “Of course, baby.”
“Okay.” Candace patted Linford’s back before leaving with Amy.
“You guys just go. I’ll take care of Candace,” Cody said coolly, arms folded.
Cristelle smiled and ruffled the boy’s hair. Cody was always the sweet one.
“Take care of yourself as well,” Linford said gently.
“You don’t need to worry about it,” Cody snapped.
Linford shook his head and left the hall with Cristelle.
When they arrived at the school gate, Drew, Fritzi, and Tanya had been there waiting. Franco, however, still hadn’t come out yet.
“What’s wrong?” Linford frowned.
Drew shook his head, “Pop seldom showed his face in public. Yet, those people seemed eager to talk to him.”
Linford rolled his eyes and went back to the hall again.
Cristelle just stood there waiting for Linford with the other people.
Fritzi noticed how down she looked. She thus directed the camera toward Cristelle, “Why do you look so down, Cristelle? Are you feeling sad to leave your babies alone at school?”
Cristelle dodged, “Come on… Fritzi. Don’t get me on camera.” Cristelle was quite shy.
Fritzi laughed and put the camera back into her purse, “What happened, Cristelle? Did you fight with Linford?”
Cristelle didn’t want to explain anything, so she just nodded.
Fritzi acted as if she had just dug out a piece of big news, “Are you kidding me? Linford treated you like a queen, and he made you mad?”
A queen?
Cristelle blushed. She didn’t want to continue this silly conversation anymore, but what Fritzi just said happened to be heard by Clara.
Clara clenched her teeth and turned around, shooting Cristelle a resentful look. She would never allow Cristelle to be with Linford.
She would never let that happen! Cristelle suddenly felt someone staring behind her, so she turned to look around, but she didn’t see anyone. She shook her head. Maybe she was being paranoid. Linford finally rescued Franco and Drew sent him back. Linford, however, still had some business to handle in his company, so he needed to go as well.
Fritzi whined before returning to the company, “Cristelle, I feel so bored every day now that you’re not coming to the company anymore. When will you come back?”
Cristelle smiled, “I’ve been at home these days. I’ll go back and take a look when my new project is over.”
Cristelle went into the car with Lily. Tanya nodded at Cristelle before she went into her car as well.
Cristelle was surprised by Tanya’s attitude today.
She seemed quite friendly.
“Actually, Tanya’s not a bad person. But sometimes, she tends to listen to other people’s opinions, and she can’t make her own judgment. You know, it makes it easy for other people to use her,” Lily mentioned as the car headed to the house.
Cristelle nodded and didn’t say a single word anymore.
Her head right now was filled with Cody’s cry. The boy didn’t like the Bradley family at all. Cristelle thus also lost interest in knowing more about their family.
