Sam finally admitted that he had no knowledge of what that man was capable of until. He had used the Barnett House to market his new game without lifting a finger. If Linford’s new game were going to be launched on time tomorrow, the Barnett House would be completely doomed.
Linford’s plan was perfect. However, what horrified Sam the most was his precise grasp of Diego’s personality.
He had predicted Diego’s reaction perfectly.
The company was in a mess right now. Most employees didn’t even show up at the company. The ones who showed up were all complaining. It took a long time for anyone to solve those problems.
Sam’s hair went gray overnight.
The next day, Daicom Corporation’s new game was officially released. It was of the same genre as Diego’s game, but the making was clearly top-tier. The game easily surpassed all the other games and became the most downloaded game on the chart in five hours.
Daicom Corporation’s stock price skyrocketed. Diego’s company, however, was down the hill. Some gamers made comparison videos of the two games, proving that Diego’s game was just a low-quality imitation of the Daicom’s.
People do not have much faith in Diego Barnett and his company. The news of him harming Linford Bradley’s daughter was everywhere. Everyone in the city knew his true face.
They thought he and his company deserved the best karma.
“Mr. Barnett, I don’t think we can hold this anymore,” the assistant said in the empty meeting room.
Sam didn’t get much sleep. His eyes were bloodshot, “Can we still get any financial aid?”
The assistant shook his head, “No bank wants to approve our loan. All the parties withdrew their investments last night. We also lost our old partners. Our debts are beyond billions now. The debts will still swell if we don’t declare bankruptcy immediately.”
Declare bankruptcy?
Sam stood up from his chair and stood before the floor-to-ceiling window. The prime view of the city was under his feet, but his figure seemed to shrink overnight, “I tried so hard to build this company to today’s scale.”
The assistant knew how much this man had gone through to build up his empire. He shook his head, “We can still bounce back if we stop right now. We must stop the debts from swelling first. We will come back again as long as the news fades.”
Bounce back?
Who was capable of saving the company?
Diego? He still couldn’t face reality now. Sam didn’t think his son had the ability to bring back his empire.
“Sam!” Mrs. Barnett stumbled into the room, her eyes tired and bloodshot, “How is everything?”
Sam was not in the mood to explain anything. His assistant thus said, “The company is bankrupt.”
Mrs. Barnett’s tears instantly fell down, “How did that happen, Sam? Should we go visit Mrs. White right now? She’s our last hope to survive.”
Sam’s eyes shortly lit up as he heard the name “Mrs. White,” but soon, he was like a deflated balloon. They’d asked for her favor before.
Mrs. White probably wouldn’t help them this time.
Sam and his wife were in a black car. They decided to beg Mrs. White to help them no matter the result. This was their last chance. They knew Mrs. White probably wouldn’t help them anyway, but they still wanted to try.
If they let this chance slip away, the Barnett House would never be able to bounce back anymore.
“Please go back, Mr. and Mrs. Barnett. Ma’am is not well today. She didn’t want to see any guests,” Rachel smiled as she asked them to leave.
But Sam refused to give up. “Please… Please ask Mrs. White to at least see us for the old days’ sake. We’ll be forever grateful, and we shall repay her kindness one day.”
Rachel was Mrs. White’s assistant. She knew her master’s attitude too well, “Ma’am has instructed this to me. She said even the White is a big house, but we’re nothing compared with the Bradley House. Besides, she doesn’t know anything about business. She wouldn’t be able to help you even if she wanted to. I hope you understand this and spare Mrs. White any anxiety.”
“We’re not trying to push Mrs. White to do anything. We don’t want her to stand up against the Bradley House for us. We only wish Mrs. White could lend us a hand at a moment like this. Her one word to our old partners can save the day. Please, Rachel. We really need to see Mrs. White right now. This is our last hope.” Mrs. Barnett looked like she was about to cry. Rachel could tell she was on the verge of having a meltdown.
However, she had seen enough people coming to the White House to ask for help.
It took more than a tear-streaked face to waver the professional assistant, “Can’t you understand what I’m saying right now, Mrs. Barnett? Helping your family equals challenging the Bradley House. Anyone with good sanity won’t do that. Besides, Mrs. White has already been generous enough by saving your daughter-in-law last time. Julia tried to cripple Linford Bradley’s daughter, but Ma’am still chose to help you guys. Hasn’t she done enough? If she helps you again, she is likely declaring war against Bradley. Is that what you want to see?”
Sam realized in fear that the White and the Bradley had been friends for generations. If Mrs. White helped the Barnett family again, the Bradley family would definitely get offended this time. For the good of the White House, Mrs. White would never do anything so stupid.
However, if she decided to step back this time, the Barnett House would definitely be doomed.
“Mrs. White! Mrs. White! Please! This is the last time, I swear! Please help us! We really need your help! We wouldn’t come here to bother you if we still had another choice. Please! Mrs. White… We know you would help us. I’m begging you!” Mrs. Barnett collapsed against the floor as she cried. She didn’t mean to make a scene, but she was desperate.
