Chapter 218: What Makes Him Busy?

After a couple of silent minutes around the table, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne suddenly came to visit. They were here to look for Linford.
“And why did Linford ask to see you guys?” Drew didn’t know their purpose for coming here.
Mr. Wayne looked quite confused as well, “Mr. Bradley just asked us to come last night. So we just came here today.”
Drew thought for a second and guessed Linford’s intention, “Would you mind seeing me in the study room then, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne? I’m coming up soon.”
Drew turned to Cristelle, “Linford called them here to arrange for them another place to stay, right?”
Cristelle nodded.
“Oh… Then I know what to do with them now,” Drew motioned them to go straight to the study room.

Drew called Alfred and got the information he needed before going to the study room.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne waited there in horror, not knowing what was awaiting them.
Drew sighed and grabbed a couple of files on top of the bookshelves.
Linford was pretty generous. He gave the old couple a hotel, and he even bought everything they had in the city at quite a high price. The only requirement Linford had was asking them to move out of the city, “Linford said you guys still have a big house in your hometown. The hotel was enough for you to live the rest of your life without worrying about money. I think this is generous enough he could offer.”
“Of course… Of course…” Mr. Wayne and Mrs. Wayne were both grateful, knowing Linford was trying to take care of them.
Staying in this city wouldn’t bring their family business back to life. They knew they needed to leave for their own good.
Drew also thought Linford was being way too generous.
Why did he treat the Wayne house so well? Could he even get anything from doing it?
Drew’s doubt was getting wider. He was even curious to know Linford’s purpose for helping them.
The Seniors of the Wayne house used to be politicians and serving in the Army. He didn’t know why this generation of the Wayne House only practiced business.
Was this an arrangement of the late grandpa of the Wayne House and Linford?
Drew couldn’t wrap his head around it. But he decided to ignore this matter for a while. Things had been decided by Linford anyway. There was no use in overthinking as Linford was facing another problem.
Drew was about to go to Candace’s room and play with her for a while. At this moment, however, Alfred suddenly burst in.
Pop was the first one who noticed him, “Alfred? I thought you were busy with Linford in the company. Why did you suddenly come back?”
Alfred was caught off guard, “Well… Mr. Bradley forgot a file. I’m here to fetch it for him.”
Drew cleared his throat, “You mean that file? I know what it is. Come with me in the study room.”
However, when they stepped inside Linford’s study room, Alfred showed Drew his phone, “Look! It’s getting worse.”
It was surely getting worse. Nevertheless, those journalists somehow found out about Cody’s disappearance. They even got the information when Linford left the mansion.
“Who slipped this information to the media?!” Drew ground his teeth.
Alfred wiped his forehead with the back of his hand, “I don’t know. I’ve sent someone to figure it out. I’m afraid more and more media outlets will publish this piece of news. If the news reaches those kidnappers, Cody and Enzo’s lives would be in danger.”
Alfred’s assumption made sense. The spreading of the kidnapping incident would put Enzo and Cody’s life in danger, and the worst part is making it hard for Linford to save them.
Drew got angry, and he cursed, “I only found out this news last night. How did those media people learn about it so fast? Something’s odd!”
Alfred paced back and forth, saying, “I honestly don’t know. I’ve tried my best to collect their information, but they registered a lot of fake IDs on the Internet. We can’t locate them. Mr. Weston, I’m actually here to ask Mr. Bradley about this, but he left earlier. Cody was about to come back; how come he got kidnapped?”
“I don’t know the cause, Alfred,” Drew frowned, “But I guess the only thing we can do right now is to control the media and make them stop covering this issue. If the news is everywhere, things would only get worse.”
“I know. I’ve sent reliable people to handle these things and eliminate that news. But we can’t find the source. I suspect it will just keep coming out,” Alfred shook his head. “And I don’t think sir Franco can take it when he gets to see the news sooner.”
Drew took a deep breath and tightly closed his eyes while thinking about the worst scenario, “Pop doesn’t use his phone. He also hasn’t read any news recently. Go summon Jack and Lily. I need their help. They must tell every servant and ensure they cooperate when we try to hide the news from the old man.”
Alfred went to do it instantly.
Alfred informed Lily and Jack about the situation, reminding them repeatedly that they needed to hide it from Franco to avoid any additional problems. He was so afraid Franco would collapse if he heard the news about Enzo and Cody’s disappearance.
Lily and Jack were both so worried about Enzo and Cody too. But they agreed to help Drew in the end.

When Jack returned to take care of Franco, the old man smiled at him, “Jack, you know you can’t hide anything from me.”
Jack smiled awkwardly, trying his best to act normally before the old Bradley, “Sir, Drew told me Linford would be a bit busy in the following days. He asked me to take care of you carefully.”
“What makes him busy? Could you stop trying to fool me, Jack? I’m not that stupid not to notice that there’s something wrong. Tell me. What happened exactly?” Pop winced as he asked his assistant.
Jack knew Franco might be old, but he had always been a smart man.
Alfred had run into the house as if his tail was on fire. He knew he couldn’t fool the old man that easily. So Jack cleared his throat, “It’s the Barnett House. They’re trying to do something to sabotage Linford’s business again, sir.” Jack lied. This was the only persuasive reason he could tell now.
