“Mr. Walker, this is Cristelle’s personal issue. I don’t think it’s appropriate for anyone to ask. Why don’t we just go play golf now and focus on our cooperation?” Jasper suggested.
Cristelle smiled apologetically, not saying anything. Mr. Walker shook his head as if he thought it was a pity, “Okay then. Let’s go.”
Cristelle couldn’t stop feeling Mr. Walker’s eyes were passionate and greedy against her body when she hit the ball. She hated this so much. But she knew she couldn’t afford to be mad, or the deal would be blown away. She turned to look at them and forced out a smile.
“I’m truly impressed, Miss Friesley,” Mr. Walker clapped.
Cristelle smiled, “I’m still new to this. I think you did better, Mr. Walker.”
Jasper also laughed, “Yep. Your technique is impressive, Mr. Walker. Why don’t we have a small competition, though? Whoever loses the game needs to drink more water.”
Mr. Walker said yes. He intended to get Cristelle drunk. Now that Cristelle had cut off from Linford Bradley, every man around her automatically had a chance. Mr. Walker couldn’t wait to get her in his bed tonight.
“Cristelle?” When they were still laughing and chatting, someone suddenly called Cristelle’s name. Cristelle turned around and saw Fritzi. Linford was also with her.
Linford watched as Cristelle’s face changed. She was quite surprised when she saw Fritzi. But when her eyes fell on him, she just started to frown again.
Did she hate him that much?
Fritzi went forth and hooked Cristelle’s arm, “Our department came here to take a rest today. Mr. Bradley wanted to treat us for the weekend.”
Cristelle pulled a face, “I see.”
Jasper felt awful the moment he saw Linford. If he didn’t contain himself, he would have exploded.
“Mr. Bradley? Christ… What brought you here? What a lovely coincidence.” Mr. Walker had gossiped about Cristelle’s relationship with Linford. But when he saw Linford, he immediately went forward and started to flatter him, “I heard you’re a wonderful golf player, Mr. Bradley. Why don’t you join us?”
Linford nodded, “Sound great.”
He was doing this on purpose. Cristelle didn’t like the idea that Linford suddenly appearing, but she knew she couldn’t ask him to leave.
Linford was an exceptional player, just like Mr. Walker had mentioned. Jasper lost to him so many times that his face went blue in the end.
Cristelle noticed how pissed off he was, so she handed him a bottle of water, “Jasper, don’t be silly. This competition is meaningless. I don’t think we’re gonna make this deal today since Mr. Walker is busy sucking upon Linford. Maybe we should go.”
Cristelle suggested it because she didn’t want Jasper to get humiliated anymore. Jasper sighed as he turned to look. Mr. Walker was busy handing Linford water and passing him sunglasses. He was completely an ass-kisser when a bigger figure showed up.
But Jasper still felt unbalanced, “I’m sorry… If I had more power, we would have made this deal.”
Cristelle shook her head, “It’s really not your fault. We’ve tried our best. We should go back.”
“Fine…” Jasper nodded, still blaming himself.
Linford was having his cup of coffee as he observed Cristelle and Jasper from a distance. Cristelle was passing Jasper some tissue so he could wipe his face with it. Linford’s eyes instantly darkened.
What the heck was that? Was she doing that in front of him on purpose?
Cristelle and Jasper suddenly went to Mr. Walker, “Mr. Walker, it’s getting late. Should we go out together next time?”
Linford cast them a cold look, his eyes filled with contempt.
Cristelle turned away, refusing to make any eye contact with him.
Mr. Walker noticed that and frowned, “It’s still quite early. Mr. Bradley has promised that he would go horse racing with me later. It’s a great chance. If you guys can stay and help me keep Mr. Bradley happy, you will have your investment at the end of this day.”
Mr. Walker could tell that Mr. Bradley wanted Cristelle to stay. He would do anything as long as he could make friends with Linford.
“We don’t need this…” Cristelle snapped, “We…”
Jasper instantly stopped her, “Cristelle, don’t be stubborn.” And then, he turned to Mr. Walker, “Horse racing sounds fine. We’d like to stay.”
Walker smiled, “Good. It’s great.” And then, he turned around and walked away.
Cristelle couldn’t understand what Jasper was thinking, “Why did you agree to stay? Do you really want to be mentally tortured by Linford?”
Jasper smiled, “I would do anything as long as our studio would be a success.”
The more Cristelle felt grateful for Jasper, the deeper her hatred toward Linford became. She didn’t know why Linford had to humiliate Jasper like this.
“Boss, you really tickled Cristelle the wrong way. The stronger you come for her, the further she stays away,” Fritzi shook her head.
“What are you trying to say?” Linford cast her a look.
Fritzi sighed, “It’s not that difficult. You should lose on purpose or get yourself hurt, so Cristelle will feel bad for you.”
Linford huffed and rolled his eyes. He would never use despicable means like that.
They had a simple meal for lunch before leaving for the racing course. The racing course was not very far from the golf course. The car could only fit four people. Mr. Walker turned to look at Jasper, “Jasper, do you mind taking another car?”
Jasper smiled, “Of course. You guys drive safely.”
And then, he took out his phone and called one of his friends working at the racing course, “Yeah… I’m on my way. I might need to make a little arrangement later when I arrive.”
****
Mr. Walker led Linford toward the VIP section after they left the parking lot, “Please, this way, Mr. Bradley. I’ve called the owner of the course. He’s prepared the best one for you.”
Linford nodded silently, not having many expressions on his face.
Fritzi held onto Cristelle’s arm, “Cristelle, really, you need to cheer up a bit. All men are childish. Linford did that because he likes you.”
Cristelle went blushing, “Fritzi, stop saying that. It’s not true.”
Fritzi went serious, “But I am telling the truth, Cristelle. Can’t you see how much Linford likes you?”
“I don’t want to continue this conversation.” Cristelle pulled away and walked faster.
Fritzi shook her head. She could never blame Cristelle for this. She was just too shy.
