“Did you guys notice what kind of jellyfish it is?” Linford looked pretty serious as he asked Donny.
Donny looked like she was gonna cry, “We don’t have a clue… but we’ve brought that jellyfish to the hospital as well. We’ll know what it is soon.”
“Alfred, you follow them and make sure things are okay,” Linford ordered before he turned toward Cristelle, “He will be fine. You can finish the meal with Candace before going there.”
Linford didn’t even seem like he was concerned at all. Cristelle couldn’t understand what he was thinking, but she also didn’t want to argue with him. She sighed and put a hand on Candace’s furry head, “Jasper is sick. Mommy needs to visit him in the hospital. You enjoy your dinner with Daddy and go to bed early tonight, okay?”
Candace nodded and pressed a kiss on her cheek.

Linford was disgusted by Jasper’s scheme. It was so obvious that he did this for Cristelle’s attention, but she just had to pretend that she didn’t know. She was even gonna abandon her daughter for that man.
“You’re not a doctor. You can’t help even if you’re there. Why do you have to go right now?” Linford frowned, failing to keep those words to himself.
Cristelle was pissed off, “You don’t have to tell me that I’m not a doctor. I’m fully aware of that. But I’m not as cold-blood as you. And it’s my freedom to go anywhere I want. You have no right to interfere with my business. Donny, let’s go.”
“You’re not going anywhere tonight, Cristelle,” Linford hissed darkly. He was determined to keep her here tonight.
Cristelle looked over her shoulder, “Do you have a heart or not? That man is dying! And I can’t even go check out on him just because you’re throwing a tantrum?”
“He won’t die. He’s just acting to get your attention,” Linford snapped.
Cristelle frowned disgustingly, “You’re a calculating person, but it doesn’t mean everyone is just like you. I know Jasper better than you do. He’s in danger right now. I must be with him and make sure everything is okay. Just like what he did for me when I was at my lowest.”
Again and again, she brought up how great that man had been to her right in front of his face. Linford was so sick and tired of hearing that.
Linford narrowed his dangerous eyes and balled up his fists, his voice cold and stern, “If you leave right now, Cristelle Friesley, you will…”
Candace suddenly ran toward him and hugged his leg. Linford looked down, fixing his gaze on Candace’s innocent wide eyes. He suddenly swallowed the words he was gonna spit out back.
Cristelle’s heart broke as she noticed how scared Candace was.
But she knew she had to go. So she walked away without looking back. Donny followed in a hurry. Linford watched as Cristelle walked away.
Linford was so angry that he wanted to kill that man. But Candace was still here. He didn’t want to scare his daughter.
He picked the girl up and walked toward his villa near the sea.
“Go investigate the whole thing,” He said to Alfred.
“Yes, sir,” Alfred nodded and left.

Cristelle went to the best hospital in the city an hour later. Jasper had been sent to the ICU. She could only check out on him through the huge glass window.
“How… How is he?” Cristelle asked the doctor when he walked out of the room.
“The sting is pretty serious. We’ll try as best as we can to save him. But we don’t know if he’s gonna survive in the end. You need to get yourself prepared.”
“What does that even mean? You will save him, won’t you?” Cristelle’s head was a mess. She was so scared by the words the doctor said.
All the workers in the corridor seemed gloomy. No one expected this to happen.
“Cristelle… What should we do right now?” Donny asked.
Cristelle took a long breath, “Just call his family first.”
Marcus went to Cristelle directly, “Miss Friesley, I’d like to make things clear first. We didn’t expect Jasper to get hurt. I know our team decided on the theme of the shooting, but your workers were the ones who were responsible for clearing the scene before the shooting. This is the cleaners’ fault. Our team holds no responsibility for what had happened.”
Cristelle had dealt with too many people like him. Jasper hadn’t died yet, but he had already started to consider how to blame things on somebody else.
“We’ve signed a contract, Marcus. We’ll follow the procedure on the contract, and I’ll leave the whole thing to our lawyers. You don’t need to worry. Nobody expects this to happen. I totally understand how you feel right now. By the way, you guys really need to take some rest after the long day. Staying here won’t help Jasper,” With that, Cristelle turned around and walked away, looking into the glass window worriedly.
She looked at Jasper’s pale face blankly. She had known him since he was just a boy. He had helped her so much when she became a helpless single mother. Cristelle had treated him like a stranger recently. She regretted it bitterly, remembering how kind and gentle Jasper had been to her.
Cody’s FaceTime came in at the moment. Cristelle pulled out her phone instantly.
The boy was showing the prey he caught today, “Mom! See this, and this is our dinner tonight.”
Cristelle forced out a smile, “You’re such a great hunter, Cody. Remember to listen to whatever your uncle says. You must make sure you are safe all the time, okay?”
“Of course,” Cody seemed pretty happy, but then, he suddenly noticed Cristelle’s background, “Mom… Where are you right now? Are you in a hospital? Did you get hurt?”
Cristelle wasn’t planning to tell the boy the bad news. But if Jasper passed away tonight, Cody would never be able to see him again. She didn’t want to lie to him.
So she sighed, “Honey, Jasper was stung by a jellyfish today. He’s in grave danger right now. The doctor just told me he probably wouldn’t be able to make it.”
“What? How? How did that happen?” Cody went nervous instantly.
Cristelle thus told Cody what had happened, “If he can’t make it tonight, we will probably never be able to see him. Cody… I’m so scared.”
