Jasper smiled down at Candace and gave the bouquet of roses to her. The girl loved flowers. She held it against her chest carefully.
“How can I not be worried? You’re…” Jasper hesitated, “You’re my friend.”
Cristelle showed a soft smile. They had been friends for years when they were in their hometown. Jasper had helped her a lot back then. There had even been rumors about them back in the town. But, after Cristelle moved to this city, they slowly drifted apart.
“I need to thank you for introducing Mr. Diaz to me,” The first job Cristelle ever had in this city was through Jasper.
Jasper only felt sad as he heard that. However, Jasper was so glad when he heard Cristelle was going to work at the Daicom Corporation. He didn’t know she would get involved with Linford in the end.
“It’s just something I should do, Cristelle. You don’t need to thank me. By the way, you and Linford Bradley….” Jasper only cared about this.
Cristelle was quite straightforward, “Linford Bradley is the father of my babies.”
Jasper dropped his gaze and then nodded slowly, “Yes, of course. I really didn’t expect this. Then, will you guys be together?” Jasper felt extremely nervous to ask this question.
“We won’t,” Cristelle was pretty sure, “I don’t think we will be together.”
They were so different. Besides, she didn’t even want to be his wife, and the thought of Darwin offering her a huge amount made her shudder. Being with someone like him was too exhausting. She was only doing this for her babies.
A big smile broke Jasper’s face, “Okay… It’s good to know…”
“Good? Why?” A cold voice suddenly bellowed, startling the two people in the room.
“When did you come back?” Cristelle was surprised to see Linford. She thought he still had something to deal with in the company.
How much did he hear their conversation?
Jasper rose up from his chair, “Mr. Bradley.”
Linford stared at the two people before him coldly. He stared at her as if he was the husband and she was his cheating wife who got caught red-handedly. Cristelle somehow felt a bit ashamed.
“Alfred,” Linford didn’t even spare a look at Jasper, “What the heck is this?”
Alfred got in, mouth dropping open, “It’s… it’s probably those guys downstairs. They failed to notice that he came in.”
“Do you still want your job or not, Alfred?” Linford sounded cold and intimidating.
Alfred hurried to say, “I’m so sorry, Mr. Bradley. I’m solving it right now.”
He went to Jasper directly, “Mr. Johnson, please leave. Cristelle needs some rest. It’s not good for her to accept visitors abruptly.”
Jasper cast a glance at Cristelle and then at Linford, smiling gently, “Cristelle and I are friends. She’s in the hospital. I don’t think it’s too much to visit her right now.”
Linford smiled coldly, “I thought you would put yourself in her shoes if you two were genuine friends. Unfortunately, she’s too weak to see anyone right now.”
Cristelle sat straight, “Hello? I’m still alive. Does anyone want to hear my opinion? I’m healthy enough to see my visitors now. Besides, he’s my friend. So what’s wrong with him visiting me anyway?”
Candace didn’t want her Mom and Dad to fight again. She waved her little hand at them anxiously. Linford saw that bouquet of roses, and his face fell.
A bouquet of red roses? Seriously?
Did he have a death wish?
“Get out!” Linford didn’t mind being a terrible person now. He simply couldn’t take it.
Jasper shook his head, smiling, “If you don’t like this, Mr. Bradley, I’ll just leave. Don’t get too angry about this trivial matter.”
He had got the answer he wanted. And he could start to plan how to get what he wanted patiently since this day.
The way he left made Linford look uglier. But Linford didn’t even care.
Cristelle wanted to yell at Linford, but Linford sat beside the bed, “Please don’t get angry, Cristelle. You can’t get too excited.”
“You!” Cristelle was still so pissed off, “You know my heart has been damaged. You did this on purpose!”
Linford took the bouquet of roses from Candace and threw it into the trash bin, “Miss Friesley, I think you forgot our contract. We agreed not to interfere with each other’s personal life, yes. But you also can’t mess around with other guys. It’s not good for the babies if they see that.”
Candace pouted as she looked at the bouquet of flowers in the trash bin, feeling sad.
“It’s okay, honey. Dad will buy a flower shop for you if you like it,” Linford ruffled Candace’s soft hair, promising.
“You make it clear, Linford Bradley. When did I ever mess around with another guy?” Cristelle clenched her teeth.
Jasper was her friend!
Linford was still so pissed off as he recalled what she had said to that jerk.
She clearly said they would never be together!
“Wait… We’ve never agreed that I can’t be with another guy before Cody and Candace grow up. It’s not even on our contract.” Cristelle frowned.
“I just made the rule. Feel free to sue me if you don’t like it,” Linford said, deadpan.
“Oh… My heart,” Cristelle covered her chest, frowning.
“Cristelle!” Linford went nervous instantly.
“Stay away from me!” Cristelle snapped at him. The doctor was right. She couldn’t get too excited. Her heart pained so damn much right now.
“Mom!” Cody was sending food into the ward. As soon as he saw what was happening, he dashed forward, “Mom! It’s okay… Just… Just calm down.”
And then, the boy glared at Linford, “Did you get her upset? You need to apologize to her!”
Linford frowned as he ruffled the boy’s hair and pinched his cheek, “Where’s your manner, Cody Bradley?”
“Don’t do that to him,” Cristelle growled.
Linford halted his hand, and Cody was still glaring at him. He stopped teasing his son to avoid making Cristelle angry again, “I was just kidding. Calm down, Cristelle. I’m leaving right now, okay? Just call me if you need anything.”
He was saying this purposely to Cody.
“Wait, you haven’t even apologized to Mom yet!” The boy refused to let him go.
Cristelle coughed and looked away, not daring to make eye contact with Linford, “Cody, you don’t have to force your dad.”
