Cody dashed toward the pond instantly. Candace was in the mud at this point. Cody was so pissed off as he shouted, “Stop!” And then, he ran toward them and broke the crowd.
Candace only started to cry as she saw her brother.
Cody noticed the little scratches on her face and arms. Her dress was even torn. He whipped around and dashed toward Tylor and Betty. Other kids were scared by the way Cody looked. They ran away immediately.
Cody’s friend also came to help. Betty had never been beaten before. When she found her hair was a mess now, she started to cry, “You guys are such bullies! I’m gonna tell Granny about this! I’m gonna make you pay for this, you little mute!”
Cody broke away from Tylor, glaring at Betty angrily, “Who are you calling a mute?!”
Betty pointed at Candace. She was not scared, “I’m calling her a mute! She’s a mute! It’s your Mom’s fault! Your Mom is a bad woman! She made Tylor’s grandma sick! Your Mom is a social climber! She married your dad for this money!”
Tylor kicked at Cody’s stomach when he was distracted, “My Mom said your Mom is a trash woman! She’s a peasant! She will never be a member of the upper class.”
NO! Candace went forward and hugged her brother, trying to make him stop. But Cody stood up, charging toward Betty and Tylor, “I’m gonna kill both of you!”
With that, he pushed the two kids into the pond.
All the kids started to scream and scattered like birds.
A man dashed toward the pond, jumping in and taking the kids out. Betty and Tylor were crying their lungs out.
30 minutes later, the Director’s office.
Mrs. Weston almost had a heart attack.
She felt bad for not being able to protect Cody and Candace.
She would never expect those adults would be involved in children’s fights.
Soon, the babies were lined up in the office, heads lowering. Some parents had arrived.
“How could you teach your babies to say that? They’re still so young. You can’t pollute their minds with your personal grudge!” Mrs. Weston was so pissed off when she learned what happened.
The parents from the White and Wayne houses both stood there, feeling embarrassed. They had apologized so many times. They knew Linford would go mad after he knew his kids were being bullied at school.
And then, the person they were afraid of the most at this moment just came. Linford’s eyes lingered on his daughter’s scratched face, mudded arms, red eyes, torn dress, and messy hair. He didn’t say anything.
There was a boy who was crying loudly. A girl reclined in an adult’s arms. None of them seemed to be old enough to know better.
Cody looked annoyed as his face darkened, “Where’s Mom?”
Linford was so pissed off that he wanted to murder someone, but he still suppressed his anger, trying not to scare his babies, “Mom’s still working. I haven’t told her what happened here.”
Cody huffed. He looked away. He wanted to make those people apologize to his Mom. What’s the point if his Mom’s not here?
“Mr. Bradley. This is…” Tim walked forth, trying to explain everything.
Linford raised a hand and stopped him from explaining. Linford looked extremely scary right now, making everyone from the two houses shudder. If Linford Bradley had really been offended, there was nothing they could do to ease his anger.
Tim and Marcos looked in Mrs. Weston’s direction, pleading silently. Mrs. Weston shrugged. There was nothing she could do to appease Linford.
Linford lowered his body and held his daughter in his arms, his voice gentle and low, “Who did this to you, sweetie?”
Candace shook her head. She didn’t want to be called “little rat” again. She was clearly bullied to the point that she didn’t even dare to tell the bullies’ names.
Tim and Marcos were so nervous and silently praying Linford would not make it big. They could only blame their babies for their stupidity. Why did they have to get changed so fast after getting out of that pond? They should’ve made everyone see how miserable they were when they got out of the pond.
Cody wasn’t afraid as he pointed at Betty, “It’s her! She scratched Candace’s face and arms.”
Betty got so scared when she saw Cody being so mad at her. She started to cry, burying her face into her dad’s shoulder, “You tried to kill me, Cody! You pushed me into the pond.”
Cody shouted, “You called my sister a little mute’! You and Tylor beat Candace first.”
Little mute? Linford quickly frowned upon hearing that.
Candace still felt hurt after hearing these words. She sniffed and started to cry against Linford’s chest.
So, that was why Candace had been upset lately? Linford finally understands her little girl’s sudden change.
Linford’s face fell as he stared at those people hotly, “Who told you Candace is a ‘mute’?”
Betty huffed, “She… She never talks. Of course, she’s a mute. She should’ve gone to a special school. She’s also a little rat. She made Joe scold us. It was her fault.”
“Liar! Candace is not a rat!” Cody screamed, “I only got to know today that you guys stepped on the tomatoes she picked yesterday. And you two lied, saying she was the one who ate them. And you…you scratched my little sister with your filthy nails. You two are bad kids!”
Betty couldn’t stand being called bad. She stared back at Cody, “It’s all her Mom’s fault. That woman made Tylor’s granny fall ill and stay in the hospital. We only wanted to scare her a little. But she’s such a little rat. My dad even scolded me yesterday!”
Marcos and Tim had gone completely pale after hearing the arguments. What was wrong with these kids? How could they just tell other people everything they ever said?
Linford cast a cold glance at Tylor, “Who told you Candace’s Mom was the one who made your granny sick?”
Before Tylor could say anything, Tim covered his mouth, “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry, Mr. Bradley. They’re just kids. They don’t know what is right and wrong.”
