Cristelle was incredulous. She wanted to ask Cody, but Linford took her to the kitchen and told her everything that happened in school today.
“Candace is an innocent child. She’s never experienced things like this. Joe has talked to those kids’ parents. He promised things like this would never happen again.”
Cristelle was so pissed off. Knowing this broke her heart.
“I know they are also kids. But how could they do that to Candace? Candace will never eat those things behind people’s backs! They must be jealous of Candace because she’s such a sweet girl.”
Linford was also thinking the same thing, “It’s just small friction between kids. Besides, Cody takes care of his sister all the time. I believe no one can hurt Candace in school.”
Linford perceived Cody had some problems with his attitude, but Cody was still his boy. He trusted him.
He suddenly remembered that he and Drew had had many fights when they were kids. He thought everything would eventually be okay.
Cristelle was a bit upset. She had been worried about things like this before sending her babies to that kindergarten.
Now it has become real. And there was nothing she could do.
Cristelle was gonna take her daughter for a bath after dinner. But Candace shook her head. She wanted to take a bath alone today.
It hurt Cristelle’s feelings, “You don’t want Mommy anymore, Candace?”
Cody frowned a bit, “Mom, Candace is a big girl now. Just let her do whatever she wants.” He had started to take care of himself a long time ago. Candace should also learn to do that too.
“But…” Candace seldom did such things alone. She was a bit worried. Cody made Cristelle sit on the sofa as he looked over his shoulder, telling his sister, “Go take a bath, Candace. Mom and I need to have a chat.”
Candace went to grab her pajamas before going into the bathroom. She let the water run after closing the door. Standing before the mirror, the girl opened her mouth wide as she tried hard to do it several times. She tried to make some sounds, but she failed.
She couldn’t even say the word “Mom” no matter how hard she tried. Candace was utterly disappointed in herself. Those people said her Mom was a bad woman, but she couldn’t even defend her. They said she was a mute.
Probably she was a mute!
No! Candace remembered before. She could talk before, just like Cody. But now, she just couldn’t.
Candace covered her face with her hands and started to cry, small shoulders trembling. She didn’t want people to hear it as she muffled her sound against her hands.
After the shower, she went back to her room and climbed onto her bed. Linford offered to tell her a bedtime story, but she shook her head. She didn’t want to hear it anymore.
The way Candace acted broke Linford’s heart. He wanted to warn the two houses. But Cody suddenly climbed into bed as well. He whispered something into Candace’s ear, and Candace suddenly started to laugh.
Cody held his sister and left a kiss on the top of her head. The babies thus fell asleep soundly.
It warmed Cristelle’s heart to see that.
Linford, however, was a bit disappointed.
“It’s getting late. You should also go back,” Cristelle said, hiding a smile. Why? She was happy that Candace didn’t want to get close to him.
Linford arched an eyebrow, “I’m sleeping with Candace tonight.”
Before Cristelle could stop him, he just stepped inside the bedroom.
When Cristelle entered the bedroom, he had taken his shirt off, revealing his impressive chest, “Do you want to join us?”
Cristelle covered her eyes, “Perv!”
“You can be with this Perv? Wanna see something even more perv?” Linford teased her. He tended to keep a straight face all the time. When he was less serious, the playfulness of his character showed, making him even more attractive.
Cristelle bit on her bottom lip and ran out of the room, “You massive perv! Stay away from me!”
Linford took her place. Cristelle could only spend the night in the guest room, cursing Linford Bradley inwardly nonstop.
Linford lay beside the sleeping babies gently after taking a shower. He stared a bit at them and found something below the pillow. He took that thin black piece of fabric out, and his eyes widened.
Her lingerie had the same scent as her body. She hadn’t taken a bath yet. Were these her lingerie prepared for tomorrow?
The door was pushed open the next second. Cristelle dashed into the room, snatching her underwear away from Linford, hissing, “You Massive Pervert!”
With that, she dashed out of the room in a rage.
What the heck? Was he just playing with her underwear? She even caught him sniffing it at one point.
Cristelle was getting more and more pissed off as she thought about it. She threw her underwear into the trash bin. She was not wearing something he touched! It was so freaking gross!
Linford smiled quietly as he stared at the ceiling. Why was she so nervous about it? It was kinda adorable.
He turned a little and collected the babies in his arms, falling asleep with a big smile on his face.
The babies saw their Dad the next morning. Cody jumped off his bed, pointing at him with one finger, “Why are you here? Where is Mom?”
Linford smiled, not saying a thing. Cody was a bit scared seeing that smile. Candace, however, was quite happy as she hugged her Dad.
“Sweeties, it’s time for breakfast,” Cristelle’s voice sounded from the living room.
Cody was still in his pajamas as he ran toward his Mom, “Mom! You didn’t sleep with that man, did you?”
Cristelle went completely red, sounding a bit annoyed, “Of course, I didn’t!”
Cody felt so much relieved hearing that. When he went back to the bedroom, Linford was helping Candace to put on a dress.
Cody arched an eyebrow, “Candace, do you still remember what I told you last night?”
Candace froze a bit and then hugged her dress against her chest, shaking her head to Linford, telling him silently that she wanted to get dressed today by herself.
