Diego walked forth, “I said the Bradley house will never accept you.”
“Really?” Cristelle laughed coldly, “I don’t see why that is your concern, Mr. Barnett. You should leave.”
“The presses are going mad, Cristelle. I’m telling you this because I care about you. Do you even know the position of Bradley in this city? They can snatch your babies away if they want, and no one can stop them. No one would even help you.”
Cristelle knew it, of course. But she didn’t have any other choices anymore. Linford would never allow her to walk away with her babies.
“Are you here to insult me?” Cristelle stared at him, a contemptuous look on her face.
Diego lowered his gaze, “Cristelle, I’m here to help you.”
“How are you gonna help me then?” A cold smirk stretched across Cristelle’s lips.
“Cristelle, I can send your babies to another country. So you don’t have to be controlled by Linford,” Diego said eagerly, and by doing that, he would also get another chance.
“Is this your method to get me out of trouble? You’re more naïve than me,” Cristelle rolled her eyes and turned away.
She didn’t want to talk to this man. She didn’t even want to see his face. Whenever she saw him, she couldn’t stop thinking about their embarrassing past.
She’d rather she had never met him before.
Diego stared blankly as Cristelle walked away. He felt deep regret. The pain was killing him.
His Cristelle had changed. She was not that needy little girl anymore.
But he couldn’t bring himself to accept the fact.
He couldn’t.
She used to be in love with him. She used to be crazy for him.
It shouldn’t turn out to be like this.
Cristelle went back to her office, sat on her chair, and took a sip from the cup on her desk.
She almost spilled the mouthful of weird-taste water out before she could swallow, “What the heck is this?”
“It’s a morning vacuum cup distributed from the CEO’s office to everyone. It’s high-quality coffee. You don’t like it?” Micky also got a pink one on her desk.
High-quality coffee?
Cristelle sniffed at the water again. It was the herbal soup she drank a lot to ease the period pain.
And it really was from Linford.
How did he know about the recipe?
She instantly realized what all this sudden bonus cup event was about, getting blushed. She rolled her eyes, wanting to pour the cup of soup into the sink. But she still felt pain. She hesitated for a while and decided to drink it anyway. It wouldn’t cost her anything.
Linford was still going through the files in his offices. When Alfred finally came back, he shifted in his seat without looking up, “Did you get those things delivered?”
Alfred nodded, “Yes, sir.”
“Did she drink it?” Linford didn’t even bother to look up, asking casually.
“Cristelle is not in the office. But other guys said they loved the coffee.” Alfred stood straighter before him.
Linford finally raised his face, “Where did she go?”
“Mr. Barnett came to visit her. I guess he was here for business. They spent a little while in the waiting room. And Mr. Barnett has left,” Alfred said a matter of factly.
Linford’s face fell.
Mr. Barnett? Diego Barnett?
Linford started to get anxious when he thought about that man. When could this motherfucker stop stalking Cristelle? “Call on a meeting 5 minutes later. I need to see representatives from every department,” Linford said, pulling a face.
Alfred was a bit confused, “Why is that, sir?”
Linford gave him a stern look. Alfred left the office instantly, not daring to provoke his boss.
Five minutes later, Linford walked into the meeting room and sat down at the end of the long meeting table, “Today’s meeting is about the newest project of our company. I just decided to establish a new department in our company for game development. I’d like to see primary plans in 1 week.”
Everyone looked confused. Alfred was the only one who knew the reason. Mr. Barnett’s company was mainly focused on developing games for the market. Linford was trying to take away their business.
Was this a retaliation or just purely about profits? Alfred couldn’t tell.
“Mr. Bradley, why is the decision all of a sudden? I believe the company has been focusing on industries so far and we’ve been doing great,” Someone voiced Alfred’s confusion.
“Internet business brings money. Don’t you like to get more profits? Of course, we will never give up our domain. But internet business is a must-do. We’re already starting late.” Linford argued. He looked determined.
The meeting was over with the decision to launch the new project.
On the other hand, Cristelle didn’t expect some people to start a new project just because she met Diego in the waiting room.
She had immersed herself in her new design. The client said the dress would be needed within the next month. She had to work really hard to meet the deadline.
“Cristelle, it’s time to go home,” Fritzi reminded her, randomly handing her a bag of chips.
Cristelle accepted the chips and looked at the clock, “Geez… It’s so late. I have to pick up my babies.”
Linford’s car had been waiting at the gate. Alfred held the door open for Cristelle when he saw her walking out of the company, “Cristelle, get in. Let’s go pick the babies up.”
Cristelle hesitated for a second, climbing in the car afterward.
She saw Linford sitting on the other end of the seat, “You don’t have to pick up the babies every day. I know you’re a busy man. I can pick them up myself, to be honest.”
“Candace will be sad if she can’t see me,” Linford stated clearly.
Cristelle fell silent. She would never win when it came to arguing with this man. She sat there, sulking for a while before taking her notes out of her bag.
She scribed on the paper, racking her brain with new ideas.
Linford looked in her direction, shortly mesmerized by how she looked while working.
She looked beautiful when she focused on her work.
Cristelle noticed the gaze and whipped around, glaring at Linford.
Linford chuckled and looked away immediately.
