Chapter 82

Book:Revenge From A Mafia In Love Published:2024-5-31

Adam and Shirley had gone to visit Adam’s parents. It was long overdue since his granny’s party. She knew that this day would surely come and surprisingly, she felt neutral. She wasn’t nervous at all.
She and Adam sat in his parent’s magnificent living room and she busied her mind with how beautiful the parlor was. The chandeliers above were a once in a lifetime sight. The cushions were soft and lovely as hell. She wondered how long she was going to enjoy this; being Adam’s fake girlfriend and seeing all this luxury.
Adam’s parents approached them. She gulped as she began to feel a little nervous.
“They’re here. Act natural” Adam whispered to her
“Good day, sir and madam” she greeted Adam’s parents
“Goodday” they replied
His parents opted for small talk with Shirley, asking her how she met him and her favourite dish and clothes as she nibbled on the snacks they offered her. Then finally, they asked her about her parents.
“My mom passed away when I was three and my dad is… alive” Shirley replied
“Oh, I’m so sorry” Adam’s mom said
“I’m okay” she forced out a smile
“What about your dad? What does he do?”
She didn’t want to lie to get in their good graces so she replied.
“He works as an accountant in a firm.”
Her answer was met with a tense silence from Adam’s parents. They whispered to eachother and Shirley couldn’t help wonder what went wrong. Did her answer offend them in any way?
“Adam, where did you get this middle class woman from?” Adam’s mom bit out
Shirley felt blood drain from her face. Middle class? Her? Why did it sound like an insult?
“What?” Adam barked.
“We asked you to get a girlfriend. We didn’t ask for a low life as a daughter in law. Or are you planning to have fun with her with no intentions of marriage?” His dad asked
“And if I am?” Adam countered
“We disapprove of that” he said
“I don’t care!” Adam roared. He grabbed Shirley’s hand as he stood up
“I’m done with trying to please you both. Shirley is my girlfriend and you guys have to get used to it” he said then turned to Shirley. “let’s go”
It was hard to keep up with his pace and also keep the tears welled up in her eyes from falling. All she wanted to do was  get out of there.
Adam drove away from his parent’s house with speed. Who did they think they were to talk about Shirley that way? He was so enraged.
Shirley just kept silent as Adam drove. She didn’t care where he was taking her to. She just wanted the day to end because she felt so hurt and embarrassed.
After some minutes, a gate opened and Adam drove inside. He quickly parked and came down from the car. Shirley didn’t come down until he opened the door to the passenger seat where she sat.
“Where are we?” She frowned at him
“At my house” he replied
She almost gasped. She’d never been to his house before and it looked very huge and beautiful from what she saw. First was his parent’s house and now his. Was he trying to use beautiful houses to woo her today?
“Why did you bring me here? Take me to my house” she insisted
“No. You need a rest. I do too. Stay at my place and I’ll take you home by sunset” he said
“No” she averted her gaze stubbornly. “take me home”
“Then you leave me with no choice” he said and before she could register what he meant, he carried her out of the car.
“Put me down” she gasped but he adamantly carried her into his house, leaving his workers to take care of his car.
Rage made her tears to come back as Adam put her on the couch.
“What the fuck was that?” She yelled at him. “you just want to have your way today. The insult I received from your parents, wasn’t it enough?” She screamed as tears welled up in her eyes
Adam came close to her in a way that their face were merely inches apart.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you mad” he apologized softly.
Mesmerized by the proximity, she struggled to form a coherent thought or speech. But still annoyed, she smashed her lips to his in a furious kiss and she intended to dominate now.
But Adam made that difficult, his hand moved to cup her cheek and he bent, capturing her mouth in a firm, hungry possession without a lead-up. No delay.
Because they were lovers, she reminded herself as excitement tore through her veins. According to the illusion they were projecting, they were familiar enough with each other to throw themselves into a passionate kiss without preamble.
Heart pounding, she returned his kiss with all the emotions roiling in her. Fury, mostly. She let her hand go to the short hairs at the back of his neck and increased the pressure, drawing him down to her, hurting herself with the way she mashed her mouth against his, liable to leave both of them bruised as she scraped her teeth against his lips in punishment for all that he’d done to her. For all that the world was doing to her.
He grunted and his hand went low on her back, pressing into her bottom to pull her tighter into him, fingertips flagrantly tracing the line between her cheeks.
She didn’t protest. She shuffled closer, shoving herself aggressively into his frame, like they were combatants. She moved her hand to take a fistful of his hair, hoping his scalp stung while she moved her lips under his, mouth burning with avid, angry friction.
With another gruff noise, he lifted his head, let her catch one breath, then closed his arms more tightly around her, swooping into a deep, dominant kiss, tongue spearing boldly into her mouth. Her reaction might have been frightening to her if she wasn’t so close to exploding. She needed this outlet, this contained space of banded arms keeping her from flying apart. She fought letting him take over as long as she could, flicking at his tongue with hers, trying to make him break, but he was too strong willed. Way stronger than her.
