Chapter 70 – The Confrontation

Book:Mr. CEO's Executive Secretary Published:2024-5-31

Two weeks more at the hospital and Tristan was finally released. Joyce must have noticed something off so she wouldn’t leave his side.
Because of that, Tristan decided to stay in his VIP room at the Royal Palace instead of going home to his penthouse. He also booked the room next to his for Jacob and Belle to stay in.
“You need to go home to pack a couple of your stuff,” Jacob suggested.
“Do we really have to stay with him here?” irritated, Belle was unable to stop asking.
“Not really, but since he might need us anytime, it’s best to stay here so we can attend to him right away,” Jacob explained.
Belle shook her head in disbelief. “I thought I signed up as executive secretary. I didn’t know I’m a part-time nanny too,” she sighed.
Jacob chuckled. He shares the same sentiments. He, too, can’t believe that he will be playing Tristan’s nanny as well, but he can’t do anything about that. This is all part of their plan.
They can’t and shouldn’t let Joyce stay with Tristan, alone. Who knows how she will manipulate him into believing what she wants him to believe?
Joyce, on the other hand, comes and goes. She didn’t stay in the hotel with Tristan, but she’d show up early in the morning to feed him breakfast and stay for lunch.
When Tristan needed to come to the office, she would come with him. After that, they’ll go out for dinner, then she’ll bid him farewell. The same things will happen the next day.
No one’s aware of her plan, but no one calls her off either. They just let her do what she wants so she won’t suspect that they know something.
Belle decided to go home to get some clothes. She wanted to go alone but Tristan insisted that Jacob go with her.
At home, she asked Natalie to take care of all office affairs in her place. Nathalie kept asking what was going on but Belle couldn’t say anything. She doesn’t know anything.
All she knows is that Frederick asked her for this favor. Even Jacob isn’t saying anything. But Belle’s instinct tells her they’re hiding something from her.
When they came back to the hotel, a woman had just gotten into Tristan’s lounge. A woman that wasn’t Joyce. Letting out a sigh, Belle opened the room to their suite with a bang.
“Hey, calm down,” Jacob told her, though he knew she couldn’t. She won’t be able to, knowing that the man she loves is with another woman right in the next room.
“Sorry, I’m just hungry,” and that wasn’t a lie. It was way past her dinner time and she only had coffee when she came home earlier.
“Do you want us to order something?” Jacob asked, and Belle nodded.
As Jacob placed the call, Belle went to her assigned room and put her belongings there. She opened her suit to grab a pair of pajamas and went straight to the bathroom for a shower.
“Food is here,” Jacob called as soon as Belle stepped out of the bathroom.
“I’ll be right there,” she responded, quickly wrapping her hair with a towel. She went to the dining area and sat next to Jacob. “Wow, you ordered a lot!”
“I’m hungry too,” Jacob giggled, and they started digging in.
Unbeknownst to them, someone’s watching their little feast. In Tristan’s VIP room, he was quietly watching his assistant and secretary, happily conversing with each other.
“Does he always do this?” Belle asked, obviously referring to Tristan, but Jacob chose to feign ignorance.
“What do you mean?”
“Does he always bring you along and leave you in another room while he’s having a good time with someone?”
Jacob almost chokes. He wants to ask her how she found out, but he doesn’t want to blab at his boss. Instead of answering, he just cleared his throat and took a sip of his water.
“He should have at least gotten another woman for you and a man for me. Then all of us would be having a good time,” she commented, followed by a hearty laugh.
Tristan clenched his fist after hearing what Belle said. ‘A man for her?’ he repeated to himself, and he suddenly felt like he wanted to murder someone for an unknown reason.
The conversation between Jacob and Belle continued, but they were interrupted when Tristan showed up, scowling. “What’s the matter?” Jacob asked.
Belle, on the other hand, bowed down and continued eating. She wasn’t even bothered that her boss wasn’t in a great mood.
“I’m hungry,” Tristan stated and went on to sit with the two at the table.
Jacob was quick to attend to him. He was about to put food on his plate when Tristan raised a hand to stop him. “I want my secretary to do it for me?”
Bowed down, Belle’s brow flicked after hearing what the man said. She lifted her gaze, looking at Jacob and raising her brows at him, but Jacob just shrugged at her.
Left with no choice, she asks Tristan what he wants and puts everything he points at onto his plate. He only stops asking when the plate’s almost full.
“Eat this,” he said as he pushed the plate towards Belle. “You’re too skinny,” he added.
Rolling her eyes, Belle set aside her utensils. “I’m full,” she simply told him before she stood up, taking her plate to the sink.
Tristan was quick to follow him. He grabbed her by the arm and forced her to face him. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked through gritted teeth.
“Nothing,” she answered casually.
Jacob stood up but he couldn’t force himself to meddle. He can see Tristan clenching his jaw and that means he’s furious. As to what is causing it, no one knows.
‘What is wrong with him this time?’ Jacob whispered to himself. Surprised as to why Tristan is asking the way he is.
“Why are you so hostile towards me?” Tristan sneered.
“What do you mean hostile? I don’t even talk to you unless you’re asking me something,” Belle replied, starting to show signs of annoyance as well.
“Exactly! What is the reason for that? Why are you wary of me?” Tristan asked again as he pulled her closer to him.
Belle brushed his hand off of her arm and took a step back. She narrowed her eyes at her as she smirked, “Do you really not know?”
Tristan shook his head at the woman. He wouldn’t be asking if he knew why she was acting like that toward him.
“Was it as Joyce said? Are you really obsessed with me and you don’t like seeing me with her?” He was hesitant to say that, but that’s the only reason he could think of.
Belle couldn’t stop herself from laughing. Then she let out a sigh, “Don’t go too far, Sir. The answer is very simple. It’s because you’re stupid!”
