Chapter 51
What took you so long?” Daniel asked Lisa as she walked toward him.
“Oh, I lost my way while going to the restroom, ” Lisa said and Daniel nodded.
After they were both done shopping, Daniel took Lisa home and asked her to rest while he prepared the launch for her. Lisa felt so happy that she was smiling all day.
After launch, Daniel had left her with ma’am Lois and went to the office for work. When he got to the office, everyone was surprised to see him come late, it is what Daniel has never done. He hardly missed a day in the office except he went on a business trip and there was nothing he valued more than work.
William, Daniel PA, wasn’t surprised though, he knew it was because of Lisa. Since the day her boss had met Lisa, there was something that changed. He had even placed Lisa before work. William wondered what was it about Lisa that his boss cannot let go of.
“William, when is my next meeting with the investors?” Daniel asked as William entered his office holding some files in his hands.
“Tomorrow sir, ” William said and Daniel nodded his response. He dropped the file on the table before walking out.

Meanwhile, Tessa and Lydia had gotten home that afternoon. Lydia was feeling so tired and hungry. She begged Tessa to help her prepare her favorite for lunch but she hesitated to say she was tired and that Lydia should eat anything she sees in the kitchen, after much persuasion, she prepared it for her.
“Thank you bestie,” Lydia said to Tessa as she served her food in the dining room.
“Don’t thank me yet. I’m so going to tell your daughter when she’s born how u disturbed my life ” Tessa said and smiled at Lydia before sitting close to her. Lydia chuckled.
“You know I would love to name my baby after you, Tessa,” Lydia said and Tessa chuckled lightly but then the smile on her face was replaced with a sad one.
“What’s wrong Tessa?” Lydia, who had noticed her friend wasn’t happy, asked, looking worried.
“Nothing,” Tessa smiled and Lydia frowned.
“When did you start hiding secrets from me, Tessa?” Lydia asked and Tessa sighed softly.
“It’s Daniel, I’m just worried,” Tessa said
“What about Daniel? I saw him today, and I saw how handsome he was. He’s a good guy, you shouldn’t be worried” Lydia said
“Yes I know he’s a good guy but I feel something is off about him. I had the feeling he was lying about the main reason he was at the shop today, there was more to it. He’s changed a lot” Tessa said and Lydia sighed
“Since when did you notice he’s changed?” Lydia asked
“Since he came back from the last business trip he went to,” Tessa said
“You think he has a woman he’s seeing or perhaps a girl is pregnant for him?” Lydia asked and Tessa sighed
“I don’t know and I hope not because if he does, I don’t know what to do,” Tessa said as her eyes became teary.
“Common bestie, calm down. Why don’t we take matters into our hands and find out” Lydia said and Tessa turned to her?
“But how?” Tessa asked and Lydia chuckled.
“Trust me on this one,” Lydia said and Tessa nodded.

It was evening and work was over for the day. Daniel had left the office for the nearest supermarket to shop for things for Lisa and he was so happy doing them.
He’s never felt this happy and this connected to anyone in his entire life, he wondered why he felt this way towards Lisa. Maybe because she’s different. There was something that differentiated her from others but he couldn’t just place his fingers on it.
After shopping, he entered the car and drove home only to meet Lisa sleeping on the couch in the sitting room.
He smiled at her as he stared into her beautiful face. He felt almost lost in it but he quickly regained his composure.
He gently carried her in his arms and took her to her room and laid her on the bed then covered her properly with the duvet.
Meanwhile, Miss Lois stood there all this time staring at Daniel. He’s known Daniel for so long and he’s never seen him this happy. She knew where all these were heading but there was something in her that said all these won’t end well.
She feels whoever is responsible for Lisa’s pregnancy will come back to look for her one day, and when that time comes, blood is going to spill.
Ma’am Lois sighed sadly, she just hoped that day didn’t come.
After Daniel had taken Lisa to her room, he walked out and went to the kitchen to serve himself food. He ate and after he was done he had gone to bed because he was feeling so tired and weak. Today was a stressful day for him but he wouldn’t deny it because he enjoyed it.
He smiled as he held his pillow, smiling to himself as he recalled the smile on Lisa’s face in the shopping mall when he had told her she would give birth to quadruplets.
He could sense she was so happy and her happiness made him so happy too. Just then his thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his phone’s ringing tone.
He picked up the phone and checked the caller ID only to see it was his mom.
“Hello mom,” he said as he answered the phone call.
“Uncle Daniel” a voice yelled from the phone and Daniel quickly removed the phone from his ear.
“Oh my goodness! Nova, you gonna deafen my ears one day” Daniel said and nova giggled over the phone.
“Uncle, when are you coming to visit? I miss you so much” Nova said and Daniel smiled.
“I’ll come to see you guys tomorrow, ” Daniel said and Nova yelled happily.
“Please buy my favorite chocolate candy when coming,” Nova said in a happy tone.
“Of course Biscuits,” Daniel said and just then he heard his mom’s voice from the background.
“I thought I asked you to go to bed nova?” His mom said and collected the phone from her.
“Sorry mom, I just missed uncle Daniel and decided to call him” nova pouted and his mom sighed.
“Fine then, go to bed,” his mom said and placed the phone in her ears.
“Daniel,” his mom said
“Mom, Good evening, ” he said and she hummed.
“Since the last time you left I haven’t seen you. Is everything alright?” His mom asked
“Of Course, it is,” Daniel said.
“News has been reaching me that you come late to the office. Son, if there’s anything you can talk to me about it” his mom said and Daniel sighed.
“It’s nothing mom, I promise. I’ll come home after work tomorrow” Daniel said and his mom replied with an okay.
“Goodnight son. I love you ” his mom said and Daniel said the same and ended the call.
He sighed as he dropped his phone, lay properly on the bed, and drifted to sleep.
