After that day, Cynthia never came back.
However, what Gray dreamed about at midnight was all about her voice, appearance, her frown, and smile.
He would always think of her in his brain unconsciously.
That she left made him understand who he loved. In missing her, he lost weight quickly. Although he married Olivia, he became increasingly alienated from her. In this new marriage, the passion gradually died away.
On a late night three years later.
In the villa where Cynthia lived, Gray stood in front of the window, looking at the night and lighting a cigarette.
The moonlight was shed on him, adding a bit of loneliness and sadness to his angular face.
In the smoke, his mind was full of that person’s appearance and voice.
There were the images of her being happy, hurt, aggrieved, and irritated… those scenes lingered in his mind, haunting him for so long…
He remembered she had said, “actually, I fall in love with you from the first sight, but that love starts with appearance and ends with marriage.”
She said, “Gray, please let me go. After you get married, I will leave and will not disturb your marriage.”
She really walked her talk, and it was three years since she left, and she never came back.
His mother’s words came to his mind again, “Gray, the fact is that it’s me that forced Cynthia to marry you back then, and Olivia was forced away to leave you by us, not her…”
He got her wronged. He tortured her for three years. During those three years, she worked hard in this home without complaining at all.
“Cynthia, when will you come back? I want to eat the meal you cook.”
He was sad, and his heart felt like being hurt by a saw.
At this moment, the phone rang, and it was called from Olivia.
“Gray, when were you going home?”
His eyebrows raised impatiently, and his voice sounded tired, “don’t wait for me. I’ll work overtime.”
After he finished speaking, he hung up the phone.
The moonlight made his shadow look tall, and his figure seemed so lonely, so sad…–
On this day, a woman wearing a khaki autumn’s latest LV windbreaker and dragging a small suitcase appeared at the international airport.
She was slender, with black hair draped behind her head like a waterfall, shimmering in the sun. Under the brown sunglasses, she had a pretty nose and slightly raised red lips.
Right next to her, was a man with a genteel temperament and a gentle appearance.
They stood together, attracting the attention of countless people at the airport.
“Cynthia, will you accompany me to a banquet this afternoon?” The man smiled warmly.
Cynthia turned her head back and smiled, “okay.”
The raise of the corners of her lips mesmerized him at that moment.
After Cynthia left three years ago, she came to Mexico alone with a scarred heart.
When she was robbed by a homeless man on the street and lived on the street, it was he who rescued her and sent her to a safe place.
For three years, he had been taking care of her and encouraging her to come out of that haze. In these three years, she had transformed from a housewife to an elite in legal practice, and she became confident and calm.
As the senior special assistant of the top international lawyer Isreal, she returned to Australia with him.
Stepping on again the land that hurt her bones, she found the pain was right in front of her eyes, but now she could take it lightly.
Just let that rusty memory be buried in the bottom of her heart, and gradually rotted away.
Cynthia thought that she would never interact with that person again in this life, but she did not know that their fates would intertwine again, and everything returned to its original state.
It’s three o’clock in the afternoon.
Gray came to the Earl Hotel after he was begged by Olivia with her soft tactics and attended a banquet that was boring for him.
During this period, Olivia kept pulling him into the throng of celebrities. They made some intimate gestures, confronting those eyes and words that were either envious, flattering, or blessing, but Gray only felt tired.
On the other hand, Olivia was in high spirits, wandering among the wealthy ladies and celebrities tirelessly.
In the past three years, their relationship had been in decline like stagnant water, but she was very happy to devote herself to showing off in front of others, and her chattering proved how happy she was.
And these were things that Cynthia was not likely to do.
She only cared about him, and she rarely attended celebrity gatherings. The mocking and contemptuous eyes of people around her were not worth her attention, because she just loved him persistently for many years.
Thinking of her, his heart ached again.
He was trying to find an excuse to make Olivia believe and left, but when his eyes were fixed on the door, numerous waves were stirred up inside his deep eyes!
Then, the pain in his heart was replaced by a kind of ecstasy that instantly swept through his body!
Because at the moment standing at the door was the person who had been away for three years.
He saw that she was wearing a long black embroidered dress, which was laced and displayed her shoulders. She walked gracefully and calmly towards the banquet hall.
The woman was Cynthia, who he couldn’t mistake. She was more beautiful now than three years ago. Her skin was as white as cream and her lips were red and her teeth white. Those eyes glistened like glazed glass. Every move like a smile or a frown she made could make men fascinated under her spell.
She looked a lot more confident, and she radiated light that made people unable to take their eyes off her.
Gray wanted to rush up to hold her tightly in his arms and tell her how much he had missed her for the past three years, but he didn’t dare, because he was afraid that it was just his hallucination, which would be like a bubble. It’s such a fear that this illusion will be shattered into pieces when he came closer.
Besides him, Olivia quickly noticed Gray’s sudden change of mood. In the past three years, she had rarely seen him being so excited. What made him like this?
Following his gaze, she found someone, who shocked her into silence and stopped her brain from thinking.
She didn’t expect this woman to be back!
Is she here to take Gray away from her?!
Three years ago, she was completely defeated by herself, and likewise, three years later, Cynthia still couldn’t win over her!
Olivia’s eyes become gloomy, and the wine glass in her hand was gripped tighter by her. Her grip was so hard that if she exerted more force, the glass would be crushed into pieces.
