CHAPTER 43-Parent Talk
JASMINE’S P. O. V.
Hunter is being terrific with Eli, I don’t know what changed to make him want to take more of an interest in the boy, but it works. We both ran around with him for a little while, getting Eli pretty tuckered out. When I returned him to his dad, he was pleased to see that Eli was ready for a mellow activity.
Hunter practically drags me back up the stairs. Once the door is shut he is on me like a lion on a gazelle. His lips and even his teeth are attacking my lips and neck. “I love the taste of your skin baby.”
I can say this about the pregnancy, the hormones are making me extra horny. Everything that he is doing is kicking my body into overdrive. My moans are loud and they only fuel Hunter on more. His hands are all over my body, the tingling heat is making my eyes roll into the back of my head. Hunter takes his time getting me to the bed, but we eventually do make it there. This is one area where he never disappoints.
After dinner we head to the library. Hunter made arrangements to talk to his parents there. Why not in their quarters I have no idea. They kept casting us glances at dinner, I can tell that they are curious as to what we have to say. Needless to say they are waiting for us at the first table in the library.
Hunter’s mom smiles at me. “I am so glad that you two made up. I know it wasn’t easy but you two look good together.”
I take a seat at the table across from them. Hunter takes the seat right next to me and pulls my seat as close to him as he can get it. Hunter’s dad watches with interest and slight amusement. “Well, son, we are here. What did you need to tell us?”
Hunter looks a little sheepish. “Well, I ask you to meet us here because I am not a hundred percent sure how you are going to take the news. There could be yelling or there could be celebration. So, I figured public was best.” He pauses and looks at his parents who are completely confused. He takes a big breath. “Jasmine is pregnant.”
His parents stare at us like we just told them I was an alien. Then his mom starts crying. “Are you serious?” I still can’t tell if she is happy or upset.
I nod. “Yes, we are serious. I have been for over a month now.”
Then Hunter’s dad says something that catches me off guard for a minute. “Well, I am going to kill the Alpha.” He looks dead serious too.
As if my dad could read minds he walks in the door. “Really, you think you can take me?” I can tell my dad is joking.
“How could you not tell me that I am going to be a grandfather? Don’t you think that is something a man should know?” He is almost growling at my dad.
He gives him an ‘are you serious’ look. “It wasn’t my news to share. It was Jasmine’s and she wanted Hunter to know first. Don’t you think the dad should know first?”
“And you are my best friend, don’t you think I could have kept it secret?”
“Not from your wife, and from the look on her face there was no way she wasn’t going to gush about it.” My dad points at Cynthia to make his point.
We all look at Hunter’s mom, she has the biggest smile on her lips. She almost looks like she is glowing. “He’s right. I wouldn’t have kept it secret. Under the circumstances it was right not to tell you. Hunter and Jasmine needed to be in a good place and not just for the baby. They needed this time.” She pats her husband’s arm. “I am ecstatic, I can not wait to see the little bundle. It is going to be the most spoiled child on the planet.”
Hunter takes this time to address my dad. “Speaking of which. We wanted to talk to you about the remodel for the Alpha quarters, we want to make sure there is room for additions.”
My dad looks at him like he is insane. “How many children are you planning on having? As far as I know there is only one in there.”
Hunter doesn’t miss a beat. “As many as we can. You know the Luna wanted to have lots of kids and she didn’t get the chance. Jasmine wants to do it for her. Expand the family. Can you really hold it against her?” Guilt tripping my father isn’t going to work.
“Well, there is time. You guys are young, plus this baby is still incubating. What we need to discuss is who is going to be Beta. We need time to train them and at the moment we don’t even have a candidate.” My dad takes a seat next to me.
I raise my hand at that. “Actually I have thought a lot about it. I want to ask Tylor Brown to do it.”
My dad looks thoughtful. “That is actually a good choice.”
Hunter gets a little bit of a doubtful look. “I am not so sure. The last two rogue attacks he hasn’t shifted, I am starting to think that maybe something is wrong with him. We can ask, but we need to have a back up.”
Hunter’s mom adds her suggestion, “What about that nice boy that is always around you?”
I sigh, “As much as I would love to have Jay as my Beta, he is a vampire. I don’t think the pack will take too kindly to a vampire in werewolf ranks.”
She nods. “Maybe you’re right. Still it would be worth a shot. Just keep it on the table.”
I just nod, even though I know it can’t happen, the pack isn’t ready for that. My dad sighs too. “We will talk to Tylor, maybe it is something minor and we can work through it. Let’s just all keep an open mind and think this through. As for the remodeling, we will work on that next month after some of this stuff has blown over.” He gives Hunter a look that says, drop it for now.
He shrugs. “I’m excited. So sue me.” I roll my eyes at his response. Though to be honest he is pretty excited.
