Lila was somewhat surprised to hear the principal’s words.
She hadn’t expected him to bring this up.
She looked at Finn and Sylvia across from her, her expression completely composed.
Finn’s expression, however, became extremely uncomfortable. In the past, Lila had always trailed after him, never doing anything to put him in a difficult position.
As her brother, he had grown accustomed to his superior position.
Now, being asked to apologize was more painful than death.
Sylvia quickly said, “Lila, when did you become so impressive? You’ve been studying secretly at home without us knowing. When you achieved such good results and were suspected of cheating, Finn came to school immediately to help. He really cares about you.”
After Sylvia gave Finn a way out, he spoke coldly, “Sylvia, don’t bother. Some ungrateful people just won’t understand.”
Finn looked at Sylvia with increasing approval-this was how a sister should behave.
Lila looked at him with a half-smile. “Yes, Finn came to school immediately, and then what? He told the teacher I definitely cheated, forced me to write a self-criticism, and wanted me to apologize in front of the whole school. Would you want this kind of ‘help’?”
Sylvia was instantly speechless.
Finn, embarrassed and angry, burst out, “Lila, you studied hard in secret without telling us, causing me to misunderstand and think you cheated. Yes, your grades improved, but what’s the point of playing games like this with me?”
The principal spoke again, looking at the homeroom teacher. “Who initially questioned Lila’s work? Call them over to apologize.”
The teacher immediately summoned the two followers.
Unaware of the situation, they thought Lila had actually cheated and smugly said, “Teacher, we told you Lila cheated to get good results. Has the investigation confirmed it?”
The teacher nodded. “Yes, the investigation has confirmed that Lila did not cheat. You two need to apologize to her immediately.”
The followers looked shocked. Lila hadn’t cheated?
How was that possible?
Sylvia quickly played the good person. “Lila indeed didn’t cheat. I told you earlier not to make false accusations. You should apologize to her now.”
With these words, she cleanly distanced herself from the situation.
The followers reluctantly apologized to Lila. “We’re sorry. We were wrong to make false accusations.”
The teacher looked at Lila. “Do you have any other requests?”
Lila shook her head. “No.”
The teacher said with satisfaction, “Lila has been working very hard lately, while Sylvia’s grades have dropped drastically.”
Sylvia felt humiliated, especially with Lila achieving such good results. It was utterly shameful.
Sylvia replied with teary eyes, “I-I was just distracted. It won’t happen again.”
Finn also felt embarrassed. “What’s the use of good grades? When you become famous through gaming and earn big money, it’s far more important than these trivial grades.”
Sylvia privately agreed.
The teacher was angered by this attitude. He hadn’t expected a parent to speak this way. He looked at Sylvia. “You should learn from Lila.”
Sylvia bit her lip hard and ran out of the office.
Finn glared at Lila with irritation. “Just because you got one good score, is it worth showing off in front of Sylvia? She sacrificed her grades for the team. You haven’t contributed anything, so you have no right to show off.”
Lila raised an eyebrow. “Did I show off?”
The principal spoke again. “I clearly heard the teacher make those comments. Lila didn’t say anything. As a guardian, you shouldn’t show such favoritism.”
Finn was momentarily speechless, then responded dryly, “I’m not being biased. This is just how Lila is.”
Finn then left to find Sylvia.
Lila turned to the principal. “Thank you.”
“No need to thank me. You have ability, and you deserve this. Return to your classroom now. I need to have a meeting with the teachers to emphasize some important points.”
Lila left the office.
After walking a few steps, she saw Dr. Sean standing in the corridor wearing his white coat.
He was leaning against the wall as if waiting for someone.
Lila met his eyes, and her heart inexplicably quickened.
Dr. Sean stood up, his voice cool. “What was the outcome?”
“I won, of course! The principal had me take another test, and I did even better than on the monthly exam.”
Lila proudly raised her head.
It was only now, seeing Dr. Sean, that her joy of victory seemed to find its outlet.
Dr. Sean looked down, his voice unhurried. “Did they apologize?”
Lila was taken aback. Did he mean Sylvia and Finn?
She shook her head. “Only the scapegoats apologized. The masterminds didn’t, but I don’t care. I already gave them a good slap in the face!”
She was still elated!
A smile appeared on Dr. Sean’s elegant features. “Come find me after school,” he said, then walked away.
Lila noticed people approaching in the corridor and didn’t pursue him further.
She returned to the classroom.
The once noisy classroom grew quieter.
The homeroom teacher soon came to announce that Lila’s results were genuine and she hadn’t cheated.
Sylvia lay with her head on the desk, her mood sour. She had even lost interest in her cake.
She needed to find a way to prevent Lila from performing so well.
How could Lila possibly be better than her?
After school, Lila went directly to the infirmary.
Dr. Sean sat in his chair and glanced back at her. “Finished your homework?”
“The teacher asked us to review our mistakes. I’ve completed that.”
She hadn’t made many errors-only on knowledge points she hadn’t yet reviewed or mastered.
Dr. Sean pointed to the computer beside him. “Start the game. Do you have an account?”
“Yes, but I want to create a new one.”
“Perfect. We’ll both use new accounts.”
Dr. Sean hadn’t planned to use his main account to play with her anyway.
Lila opened the game and casually chose a name. “Sweet Lemonade.”
After entering the game, she looked at Dr. Sean. “What’s your name? Let’s add each other as friends.”
Lila caught a glimpse of his game screen and noticed a familiar username. “Time Rewind.”
Something suddenly clicked in her mind.
In her previous life, she had an online boyfriend with exactly the same name.
Dr. Sean raised an eyebrow. “What are you looking at? Accept the friend request.”
Lila’s face instantly reddened as she hurriedly accepted the request. Looking at the game character before her, she felt excited.
But in her previous life, she hadn’t met her online boyfriend at this time.
Maybe it was just a coincidence?
Lila secretly glanced at him. “Why did you choose that name?”
Dr. Sean’s hand paused, his eyes lowered. “Just random.”
Lila nodded. Perhaps it really was a coincidence.
After entering the game, they went directly to the beginner area to complete tasks.
Lila could tell Dr. Sean wasn’t a true novice. He had probably created a new account to play with her, but she didn’t ask too many questions.
Yet his gameplay style was remarkably similar to that person’s.
Lila couldn’t help asking, “Teacher, is your main account also called this?”
“No.”
“Is this the first time you’ve created this alt account with this name?”
Dr. Sean looked up at her. “Yes, why?”
Lila quickly lowered her head, her face heating up. “Nothing.”
She was conflicted. Could he possibly be that person?
But the timing didn’t match with her previous life.
In her previous life, she had met that person after the wildcard tournament. He had taught her how to improve her gaming skills, eventually helping her advance to the finals.
Though she had never met her online boyfriend before her death, she remained grateful for his help when she was homeless.
Lila seemed distracted.
After finally completing the beginner tasks, they moved on to the next mission but encountered another team.
Seeing the team’s usernames, Lila displayed a mocking expression.
It was Finn and Sylvia.
Dr. Sean’s eyes narrowed. “Want to engage?”
“Engage how? We’re both on new accounts with inferior equipment. We’d be walking into our own deaths.”
Despite her words, Lila found herself tempted.
Dr. Sean suggested, “We can wait until they’re almost done with the task, and when they’re low on health, steal their boss.”
