Finn was troubled about the upcoming competition.
Max patted Finn on the shoulder. “After the results come out, I’ll talk to her again. The wildcard tournament is important.”
Finn was displeased. “She begged me for so long to teach her gaming, and now she’s trying to manipulate me. When did she become so calculating?”
“If all else fails, we’ll have Blake intervene. Lila surely won’t disrespect him too!”
Sylvia listened from the side, feeling frustrated.
She didn’t want to give her position to Lila at all! It was her position!
At school, everyone was discussing the exam results.
One of Sylvia’s followers glanced at Lila and deliberately said loudly, “Some people have been working so hard lately. I wonder what score they got!”
Lila pretended to be calm as she took out her textbook to review, though she was actually very nervous inside.
Soon, the homeroom teacher arrived with the results, immediately exciting everyone.
The teacher tapped the desk. “Settle down, everyone. Overall, the performance was not very good. This is no time to be complacent. Sylvia, I’m specifically noting that you’ve dropped more than two hundred places.”
Sylvia’s face paled considerably. She knew she hadn’t been in good form lately, but she hadn’t expected to do so poorly.
The teacher looked at Lila, hesitating before speaking. “However, Lila has improved significantly. Keep it up!”
Ruby asked, “Teacher, what rank did Lila get?”
“She’s ranked 100th in the grade.”
With these words, the classroom erupted.
Lila smiled. She had actually done it!
She was excited-now she could report her results to Dr. Sean!
It seemed her recent efforts hadn’t been in vain.
At this rate, if she continued to work hard, she might actually have a chance at Cloudridge University!
“Teacher, I suspect there’s a problem with Lila’s score. She couldn’t possibly improve so much in such a short time!”
After this statement, the classroom fell silent.
Almost everyone looked at Lila with suspicion in their eyes.
The teacher, seeing Lila’s ranking, also had some doubts, though Lila had indeed been working hard lately.
Sylvia spoke up weakly, “Teacher, Lila really wanted to get good results to prove herself. She made a bet with her brothers at home, so please don’t question her scores. These results are really important to her. I’m begging you.”
Her words were beautifully crafted.
But Lila merely displayed a mocking smile. This girl’s manipulation skills were truly advanced.
No wonder she had fallen into Sylvia’s trap in her previous life.
Sure enough, after hearing these words, the teacher immediately suspected that Lila had resorted to cheating to win the bet.
Sylvia’s follower added fuel to the fire. “Teacher, you shouldn’t protect cheaters! Recently, both Sylvia and Lila have been preparing for their family team competition. Sylvia’s grades have dropped so much, so how could Lila’s improve so dramatically?”
Bella chimed in, “That’s right, teacher. For the sake of fairness, I think Lila’s results should be invalidated.”
Sylvia saw the teacher hesitate, clearly believing what she had just said.
She knew she had won again.
Lila, you dare to surpass me again? Don’t you know what punishment awaits?
“Lila, aren’t you going to explain yourself?”
Feeling the teacher’s suspicious gaze, Lila replied coldly, “I didn’t cheat.”
Just those few words, nothing more.
In her previous life, whenever her grades surpassed Sylvia’s, this woman would find ways to cause trouble for her, making her afraid to outperform Sylvia.
Now, Sylvia was using her old tricks again.
Sylvia quickly intervened, “Teacher, I told you she wouldn’t cheat. Please don’t doubt her. Invalidating her results might seem fair to everyone else, but it would hurt her.”
After some thought, the teacher said, “Lila’s ranking will be temporarily invalidated pending my investigation. If cheating is confirmed, appropriate punishment will follow.”
After the teacher left, the classroom became noisy.
The follower mocked, “I knew certain people couldn’t improve so much. So it was cheating!”
Sylvia’s eyes flashed with triumph as she quickly texted Finn: Finn, what should we do? Lila cheated on the exam to win the bet with you, and now she’s facing disciplinary action. I’m so worried about her!
Lila simply opened her book and began to review.
Whether her ranking was canceled or not, she didn’t care.
Sylvia could only influence the teacher, not the college entrance exam results!
But she still felt upset.
After all, she had promised Dr. Sean that if she ranked in the top hundred, they would play games together.
However, she hadn’t been to the infirmary lately, and Dr. Sean hadn’t replied to her previous message.
Lila felt miserable. Just when she thought she had made a friend, she realized she had been overthinking.
After the morning classes ended, girls’ screams echoed from outside the classroom.
Lila looked up to see Finn had arrived.
What was he doing here?
“Sylvia, your brother is so handsome!”
Sylvia displayed a proud expression as she went forward to accept a small cake from Finn. “Finn, Lila is in the classroom. Do you want to talk to her? If she apologizes properly and admits to copying, maybe she won’t face disciplinary action.”
Finn glanced at Lila in the classroom.
Lila kept her head down, quietly looking at her textbook.
She didn’t need to guess why Finn had come to school; Sylvia was clearly eager to see her humiliated.
But she didn’t care whether her results were canceled or not.
However, she absolutely would not admit to cheating!
Sylvia stood at the classroom door, feigning concern. “Lila, Finn is here. Don’t worry.”
Lila pretended not to hear and didn’t look at Finn outside.
Finn’s expression darkened, the little concern he had instantly vanishing. Why should he worry about Lila?
He said coldly, “I’ll go to the office to find the teacher first.”
Finn turned and left.
Sylvia brought the cake to Lila’s side. “Lila, Finn only brought one cake for me. He probably forgot in his carelessness. I’ll share half with you later.”
Lila could clearly see that Sylvia was showing off.
She was used to it by now. Whenever her brothers came to school, they always brought small gifts for Sylvia.
There was never anything for her.
She had cried about it once, and Max had said she didn’t get presents because she was disobedient.
But now she didn’t care about these so-called gifts at all.
Lila’s phone rang. She saw it was Dr. Sean calling and immediately took the phone out to the corridor, taking a deep breath before answering, “Hello, teacher.”
“How were the results?”
Lila suddenly felt distressed. “I was ranked 100th, but the results might be invalidated.”
After hearing this, Dr. Sean’s lazy demeanor instantly became serious. “What happened?”
