Pearl’s question immediately made the atmosphere more tense.
Willow felt embarrassed once again.
Just as Grant was about to say something unpleasant, Jaxon laughed softly.
He said to Pearl with a serious face, “Willow is my friend, and of course Grant knows her! My dear future sister-in-law, you can be absolutely certain that Grant is completely faithful to you!”
As he finished, he glanced at Grant, his eyes full of mockery.
Grant’s expression darkened as he led Pearl away to their table.
After they left, Jaxon turned to Willow, “Brooksville is so big yet we still run into them. Next time, Willow, I’ll definitely choose a place where Grant can’t be seen, so you won’t be troubled.”
Willow, having finished ordering their food, said softly, “There’s no need to deliberately avoid him. Just because we broke up doesn’t mean I have to hide from him for the rest of my life. Besides, I’m not the one who did something wrong.”
Jaxon frowned, then suddenly said, “I need to use the restroom. If the food arrives, go ahead and start without me.”
Willow didn’t suspect anything.
With Jaxon gone, she took out her phone to contact a few parents and confirm her teaching schedule.
Ten minutes later, Jaxon still hadn’t returned. Just as Willow was wondering what was taking so long, a woman’s scream came from the direction of the restrooms… The upscale restaurant immediately erupted into chaos.
Jaxon and Grant had gotten into a fight, for reasons unknown.
When Willow arrived at the scene, there was blood on the walls and floor. Grant was glaring at Jaxon with a grim face.
An hour later, the four of them were sitting in a detention center. Jaxon and Grant had been charged with fighting over a woman.
Pearl made a phone call, crying sweetly, “Hunter… Grant got into a fight with someone. We’re at the detention center now. Brother, please come quickly! Um… Grant is hurt pretty badly.”
Willow’s mind went blank with shock.
What? Hunter Hawke was coming?
Pearl hung up the phone.
Her eyes were fixed only on Grant as she tenderly tended to his wounds. “Your lip is cut! Jaxon, you were too rough!”
Jaxon had a large bruise on his face.
He howled in pain, looking innocent as he spoke, “He hit harder, okay? Just because I joked about him being henpecked, he did this to me!”
Pearl immediately melted with sweetness, scolding her fiance playfully, “Jaxon is one of us. Fighting with him like this only makes Miss Wright laugh at you. How is Jaxon supposed to court her now?”
Grant took out a cigarette, lit it, and glared darkly at Jaxon while smoking.
That guy was just pretending!
In the restaurant’s smoking area, how had he provoked him?
[“Grant, now that you’ve broken up with Willow, you won’t object to me pursuing her, right?”]
[“If I don’t make a move, someone else will!”]
[“You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”]

Grant sneered.
Huh! He had underestimated Jaxon!
Willow knew nothing of this. She only feared that when Hunter arrived, she would provoke his anger.
She didn’t dare offend him!
Willow was looking for a chance to escape, but Jaxon clung to her, “Willow, you’ll have to take me to the hospital later. With my face injured like this, how can I show myself tomorrow?”
Willow’s head was pounding!
Just then, footsteps approached, and Willow instinctively looked up.
It was Hunter.
He was impeccably dressed in a classic English tailored suit, perfect like a male model from a magazine.
When he entered, he didn’t even glance their way, going straight to speak with the officer.
“I’m here to bail out Jaxon Kane and Grant Caldwell.”
The officer, recognizing his status, respectfully offered him a cigarette. “Attorney Hawke, I’m terribly sorry to trouble you with such a minor incident! The main issue is that these two fought over a woman, which created a negative impression.”
A woman?
Hunter glanced lightly in their direction.
His gaze fell on Willow.
Today, Willow was dressed conservatively in a champagne-colored silk blouse paired with a fishtail skirt, completely covered from head to toe.
Yet this attire only enhanced her innocent sensuality.
Pearl spoke up for Grant, “Hunter, Jaxon made fun of me, and that’s why Grant fought with him…”
Hunter withdrew his gaze, briefly passing over Grant before asking flatly, “Is that so?”
“Of course! Grant loves me so much, how could he possibly fight over another woman… besides, Jaxon and Miss Wright are close!” Pearl rambled on.
Hunter ignored her and proceeded with the paperwork.
Grant was the first to leave, getting into the car.
Pearl hurried after him.
Jaxon coughed lightly and said, “Thank you, Hunter. I’ll treat you to dinner another day.”
Then he tried to leave with Willow.
Hunter watched them, slowly exhaling a smoke ring, his voice calm, “Jaxon, you go ahead. I have something to say to Miss Wright.”
