things went down

When I told Emilia how things went down at the office, she nearly blew a gasket.
To avoid Hoseok, I blocked him everywhere and made sure that my schedule was filled up with field work.
Three days later, I received an email from the HR office, notifying me of actions taken. Grace was fined and her salary was deducted. She was ordered to write an apology letter which I will never see, and my resignation notice was acknowledged.
Earlier in the week, preparation for Master Kim-yung’s 60th birthday went into full swing. Everyone in the office was talking about the gifts to buy for him. Since I was leaving in less than two weeks, I felt no obligation to join in the discussion, and when I was told of the contribution to be made, I completely ignored them.
Hoseok came to my place twice. Emilia was the one who attended to him both times. She made it clear that if he should show up ever again, she would call the cops. Then, he showed up at my son’s school and I had to inform the school never to let him see my son again. Unfortunately, he recommended this school, so I should consider changing David’s school. David threw lots of tantrums and I just had to bear it, hoping he would outgrow it. Before I could even get myself together, it was the weekend, and the birthday was on a Sunday.
“I have nothing to wear, Emilia. What should I do?”
“If we hurry, we might still get something fitting at the mall.” Emilia threw over her shoulder, not bothering to even spare me a glance. She had been singing it like a chorus to me all week, that I should pick up a dress for Master Kim-yung’s birthday, but I decided to attend at the last minute.
“Or I can just wear the black and blue sequins-bodycon from December.” I shrugged causally.
“Are you trying to get him jealous or trying to get rid of him?” Emilia stopped what she was doing and turned to me.
“It’s the newest dress I have, Emmy. If I don’t wear that, then I will have to settle for something that is two years old.”
“I think making him jealous is the way to go. But you have to compliment the dress with a worthy man. A show stopper.” She became thoughtful, then suddenly snapped her finger. A mischievous smirk graced her face. “I know just the right guy. He is younger, has the build of a Greek god, and his eyes are mesmerising.”
As she was describing whoever she was describing, I couldn’t help but raise my brows suspiciously.
“Are you sure it will be okay for me to borrow this hunk you are delectably describing to me?”
She giggled sheepishly, her ears turning red. “You are just to hang on his arms and smile like the happiest person on earth okay. Another thing will be a betrayal of the highest order.”
“Really, Emmy. You have a boyfriend now?” I gasped, unable to accept it.
“A prospective boyfriend.”
“Since when?”
“Well, since Surfside beach.”
“Surf…what the fuck? Emmy, it’s been two months!” I gasped, covering my mouth in shock.
“Yeah.”
“When am I meeting him? Were you ever planning to tell me?” I became upset. How could she hide something like that from me for two months?
“I didn’t say anything because I am not sure yet.” She frowned.
“What happened?”
“You will understand when you see him. He doesn’t look real ”
“Do you have a picture?” I moved closer and picked up her phone from where she placed it on the dining table.
“Of course.”
She snatched the phone from me and quickly brought his picture forward. And fuck, that was an Hunk of a man. Tall, lean, toned, dented torso, big, rippling biceps. Breastplates looking like roman armour. Curly, dark hair, falling around his oblong face, with sharp jaws, tine lips, hollowed cheeks, and sober eyes, the color of Azura.
“Fuck, he looks like sin.”
“He is sin.” She said, crossing her legs and clenching them. Catching her movements, my thoughts went wild. “Emilia, don’t tell me you have…”
She nodded, blushing.
“Tell me more…”
I ended up wearing the black sequin dress, and was accompanied by the Greek god of sexiness. Deep down, I didn’t want to do it, but Emilia made a good point. With a man by my side, those who want to bully me at the party will have to think twice. Not that I believe that Dean’s presence would stop them from talking, but I figured that he would create a good distraction for me. As for making Hoseok jealous, well, we shall see.
Rose gardens is the name of the event hall where the birthday was happening. It started in the morning, but I didn’t get there until noon. Dean has a car, and he hired a driver. I don’t know what Emilia told him, but he was the perfect gentleman and kept a sweet smile on his face for me. But the moment we got to the venue, his seemingly gentle face became stern, his back became straighter, and even his gait started oozing more elegance. He simply upgraded from the version that left home with me.
With the party already in full swing, nobody noticed us immediately. I found an empty table at the very back of the hall and we sat down. The plan was to stay for an hour, then leave. To keep busy, Dean started gaming on his phone, leaving me to find something to distract myself with.
“You finally found your way here, Ms Cook.” A tiny voice reached me, helping me put an end to all the intrusive thoughts that were keeping me busy.
Turning around, I came face to face with another of Hoseok’s special assistants. Bella. This girl was one of those who got me locked in the elevator and had the power switched off. Her face was filled with disdain.
“Unfortunately.” I snorted then gave her a bright smile.
“Who’s this?” Dean put his phone away and asked. He leaned towards me intimately and dainty picked a straying hair. He then put it back in its place. I wanted to lean away, but remembered on time that I was supposed to use him to block my bullies and an unwanted dick. I sniggered and whispered to him, “One of my boss’s pussies.”
“Oh.” He raised his left sexy brow and gave the girl a contemptuous look. “Your boss sure knows how to pick them.”
The moment I started whispering into Dean’s ears, Bella was already curious. Once she heard Dean’s words, she knew I had said something bad about her. She fisted her hands and glared at me.
“What do you mean? What did you tell him?”
“She said you are one of her boss’s pussies.”
Her naturally peachy skin turned pale. She trembled. “I am nobody’s pussy.”
“Last time I checked, you were.” Williams’ raspy voice came from behind. I instantly turned and found him standing close to the entrance.
“Mr. Williams!” I stood up and greeted him.
“Ms Cook, I thought you were not coming.” He walked over, giving Dean a chilling glare that made my heart palpitated.
“Who is this?” Dean asked in a very grave voice that made me turn to him.
‘Huh?”
Just like Williams, he had also turned cold and aloof. He was glaring back, giving him aura for aura. Williams couldn’t oppress him at all.
I couldn’t believe it. Williams is a man in his mid-thirties, while Dean is just in his early twenties like me. How did he develop such a cold aura and how come he kept switching from one aura to the other? I couldn’t help but wonder if Emilia was right about him. He already looked like a gigolo, what if he is really a con artist?
“Catherine, dear?” Dean lifted my chin with his index finger, snapping me back to my senses. With an intense gaze, he asked again.
“I said, who is he?”
