Chapter 96: Finding Eric

Book:My Best Friend's Dad Published:2025-4-15

Tristan’s POV
I didn’t want to leave Elona, she still wanted nothing to do with me after everything I had said. I don’t know what else to do to win her back and there is clearly pain that she is carrying, something that she cannot get over, although I sense it to be deeper pain. And it’s all because of me. All because of Cris and her fucking words. As much as I wanted to say and make sure she would get back home safely, I needed to give her that space. In the meantime, I have Austin to deal with.
I arrived at home, I didn’t give a fuck who was here. I walked to the dining table and took a seat, taking my phone out of my pants pocket and I dialed my mother’s number. I hope that this isn’t true. I placed the phone against my ear as the phone rang.
“Hi, sweetpea-”
“Mom, stop calling me that,” I hissed, running my fingers through my hair.
“Honey, you will always be my little boy, so how have you been?” I let out a sigh. I heard my father in the background.
“Do I have a long-lost foster brother that I don’t know about?” I asked. There was silence on the other end of the line. I removed my phone from my ear. Checking if she was still there. I placed the phone against my ear. “Mom?”
She cleared her throat, “I think that is something that your father and I need to discuss with you in person.”
“So, it is true,” I stated.
“Yes,” she said, and then I heard mumbling and rustling.
“Is that grandma?” Cris appeared beside me. I raised my hand, signaling for her to wait.
“Trist,” My dad took over, “I know that this is something serious, but we never knew it would ever come out, and we don’t know how it did. But this is something that needs to be explained in person. Your mother and I will come down in the week. It’s time that you knew everything,” he said sincerely.
I rubbed my face with my hand. “Okay.”
“I’m sorry about this. But we will see you soon. Your mother wants to speak to Crissy.”
“See you soon, Dad,” I said, and then I handed the phone to Cris as she still stood beside me.
“Grandma?” she exclaimed with happiness. I leaned back in the chair just soaking this in. Austin was correct about this. He was my older foster brother and I want to know from my parents why they pushed him away when they conceived me. That explains the things he has done so far.
“I’m so happy that you’re coming over. Yes, he still has the piano, but he hasn’t played it in a long time. Ever since mom died he hasn’t touched it much,” she walked to the other side of the table and took a seat across from me. “I remember that. He used to have me sit beside him at the piano and would play such emotional music,” she looked over at me. I will not touch the piano again. It seems like whenever I touch it, I lose the women I love.
My mind goes back to that moment when I played the piano for Elona and the kiss we shared. I just wish that she had given us another chance and I blew that up. “Now, I get to have someone around,” Cris said as she stood up from the chair and walked closer to me, placing my phone on the table in front of me.
“Where is Eric?” I asked as I realized I hadn’t seen him.
“Um, he moved out. We broke up,” she said, and I shifted in my chair to look at her.
“What? Where the f^ck has he moved to?” I asked.
She shrugged, “I don’t know, and I don’t care. Maybe he is with his father,” I jumped up from the chair and took my phone.
“You are unbelievable. That kid went through so much. I know who caused that break, and it can only be you.” I hissed at her before turning to head to the front door.
“You seem to care a lot about my friends and ex-boyfriend. You don’t even seem to care about me anymore. It’s always me that’s the issue,” She raised her voice at me. I stopped in my tracks and faced her. She was emotional, it was written all over her face.
“If I look at it, you are the one that did something to him. He is a good kid, he wouldn’t just hurt someone. What the fuck did you do to him?” I asked. I was trembling and tried my best not to say anything that I would regret. I swear Cris will let me land in hospital with a heart attack the way she has been acting recently.
“I-I cheated on him. He packed up his things and left.”
“Gosh!” I said with frustration as I took my car keys and hurried out the front door.
I just hope he isn’t back to his father. I went to their house with my car and knocked on the front door, but there was no answer. There was no car in the driveway either. I called Eric on the phone that I had bought him, but no answer either. I texted Stan, my IT to search where his father would be. It would be at Parker Tradings.
I got into the car and sped all the way to that company, hoping that Eric would be there. I doubt he would even be at Dakota Agency because I didn’t see him there earlier.
When I got to Parker Tradings, I went all the way to Eric’s father’s office. People were looking at me like I was a madman, but I needed to know that Eric was safe. I saw a young man approaching me down the hallway with documents in hand, and a polite smile in place.
“Can you tell me where the CEO’s office is?”
“It’s on that corner over there,” he turned around and pointed in the direction of the office.
“Thank you,” I said, and then I hurried down the hallway.
I got to the office and opened the glass door. Maggie turned around, cradling her little baby bump and Mr Parker was seated behind his desk. Maggie’s eyes were huge upon seeing me.
“Where is Eric?” I asked Mr Parker.
“Why do you care so much about my son when you can’t even look after him? That daughter of yours is a piece of work, and I’m glad my son is far away from her.”
“Don’t you dare speak about my daughter like that. She might not be perfect, but she is human,” I hissed,. “Now, where is he?”
“In the TV room,” he said with a sigh, unbothered, as he returned to his work. I glanced at Maggie briefly before I left them.
I searched for the TV room and found it. I saw Eric sitting on a sofa, the remote control in hand, changing the channels. I opened the door and entered. I moved closer to him. “I know what Cris did. I’m sorry for that, and for not noticing that you left my house. I would prefer if you continued to stay with me or if you want to be booked into a hotel, I will take care of it.” I said as I stood in front of the TV. He just stared at me.
“I don’t want to face the person who hurt me. I thought the people that I had in my life wouldn’t hurt me anymore, but I was wrong. I don’t want to go back.”
“Please,” I begged.
“Maggie is pregnant with my father’s baby and I don’t even know if my life is just the worst right now. But there you have it.”
