Never left the country?
These words hit like a heavy blow, deepening the sense of desolation and helplessness about the future.
“Miss Marsh…”
Callie raised her arm, signaling herself to stay calm.
“… No matter which possibility it is, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack…” According to his meaning, the chances of finding Reuben were extremely low. If someone had deliberately hidden him, the difficulty of finding him was unimaginable.
“Or, Reuben is no longer in this world.”
Callie’s gaze lost focus. “No.”
Her tone was firm, her attitude resolute. “He must still be alive, he must still be living well in this world.”
Meanwhile, Mollie followed the address Callie had given her and found the villa. After confirming the house number, she stood outside and rang the doorbell.
After a while, footsteps approached, and the door opened-
“Callie…” The words stopped abruptly as her eyes unexpectedly fell on Nelson. The man stood casually, looking every bit like the master of the house.
Upon seeing Nelson, Mollie’s expression changed dramatically, her mouth opening wide.
“Mr. Oconnor… what are you doing here?”
Faced with Mollie’s shock, Nelson remained much calmer. He looked her over and asked, “I should be asking you that.”
Mollie’s brain lagged for a moment. “This is the address Callie gave me… we just met yesterday.”
Nelson then stepped aside. “She’s not home. If you want to wait for her, come in.”
Mollie felt a bit uneasy but walked in anyway. Just as she was about to speak, her eyes caught sight of a small figure in the yard.
Mollie blurted out, “Whose child is this?”
Hearing this, Grape stood up from playing with toys on the ground, his round eyes looking at Mollie with some familiarity.
“… Auntie.”
“Aren’t you the child who got lost last time? How are you here?” Mollie recognized Grape. “Where’s your mom?”
Mollie felt her brain was about to short-circuit. She sensed some connection but couldn’t figure it out. “Auntie… Mommy went to work.”
Grape spoke methodically.
Mollie looked at his little face, a perfect blend of Nelson and Callie. The first time they met, she thought the child resembled Nelson. Now looking closely, he seemed like a carbon copy.
Could this child really be Nelson’s?
Then there was only one possibility-
“Is your mother Callie?”
To her surprise, Grape gently shook his head. “No, Auntie. Everyone calls my mommy Alice.”
Alice?
Mollie was puzzled.
Nelson cleared his throat. “Alice is Callie.”
Callie is Grape’s mother! Mollie’s face was full of disbelief. She quickly squatted down to Grape’s level, speaking excitedly, “Are you Callie’s child?”
Callie actually had a child. Then this child… there was no need to guess; the answer was obvious.
The world must be magical.
If Ylosea’s gossip reporters knew about this, it would surely cause a storm.
Mollie found it hard to digest and looked at Grape with a softer gaze. “Grape, I’m your Aunt Mollie, a good friend of your mom…”
