Chapter 958: Sword Qi Across a Hundred Miles

Book:A King Reborn in Shadows Published:2025-4-15

“Everyone, retreat ten miles!”
A thunderous voice shattered the skies.
The overwhelming might of the heavens spread across a hundred miles.
It was Sleeve’s Earthly Sovereign calling out.
“Retreat? Why? This is the perfect spot to witness everything clearly…”
Some voices were filled with confusion and reluctance.
While some yachts began to move, others stubbornly stayed put.
“Master Phoenix’s sword aura spans a hundred miles! Within twenty miles of Redcloud Island lies a death zone. If you wish to die, stay where you are!”
Sleeve’s Earthly Sovereign repeated his warning.
“A sword aura that covers a hundred miles?”
A collective gasp reverberated across the crowd, the sound of disbelief hanging in the air.
What kind of spectacle could this be?
The most terrifying part-Sleeve’s own cruise ship was retreating.
And what did that signify?
Even Sleeve’s Earthly Sovereign feared Petrin Wilder’s sword aura!
Lord Valerian Nox, another Earthly Sovereign, was about to be at the very center of that sword aura. Would he not be reduced to a mist of blood?
In an instant, thousands of yachts scrambled to retreat.
They stopped only twenty miles away.
But seven ships remained just ten miles out.
Vicente Clark focused his senses, and to his astonishment, he discovered that those seven yachts carried eleven Earthly Sovereigns!
They had come from all over the world.
These Sovereigns, even at ten miles out, could withstand it.
This battle was insane.
It had drawn so many immortals and demons to witness it!
Vicente Clark had never seen so many Earthly Sovereigns gathered in one place before.
“Mr. Ambrose, thank you for bringing me here. Without you, I could never have witnessed this grand battle,” Madeline said, standing on the deck of the Ambrose family yacht, a bright smile on her face.
Wayne smiled faintly, his demeanor gentle. “Madeline, you’re a benefactor of the Ambrose family. There’s no need for such formalities.”
“Everything you have now is thanks to your own efforts.”
“Yes! I’ll work even harder!” Madeline nodded vigorously, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Her smile carried a hint of pride.
She never dreamed she could integrate so quickly into Slatin’s upper circles.
And now, she was present at the scene of such a monumental battle.
In the past, how could she have even dreamed of coming to the open sea to witness the grandeur of two great immortals and demons?
Even meeting a single Lesser Sovereign would have been akin to meeting a god.
But all of this, she reminded herself, was earned through her own efforts.
Her chin lifted slightly, her pride unmistakable.
Flynn, are you watching this?
This is the difference between us.
What does being a Semi Lesser Sovereign matter?
What does your skill in medicine matter?
Can you come here to witness this?
You can’t.
Catch up to me? You’re still far behind.
The last time you were close to me was that day at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Back then, you still had the right to chase me.
But after I secured the Titan Holdings contract, I left you in the dust.
You see, for every second you stand still, I widen the gap by ten thousand meters!
Madeline, keep pushing forward! Soon, those who mocked you in Niarak will be silenced!
As Earthly Sovereign voices echoed, Layla’s gaze dimmed, her strength seemingly draining away.
Before coming to Redcloud Island, everything was speculation, and Layla still held onto a glimmer of hope.
But when she saw even the Earthly Sovereigns retreating ten miles, she knew Lord Valerian Nox stood no chance.
“Lord Valerian Nox, please don’t do anything foolish. Please, don’t come,” Layla pleaded silently in her heart.
But if Lord Valerian Nox didn’t come, wouldn’t he be branded a coward?
If his disciple were gravely injured and he dared not seek justice, he’d lose all respect.
That would not be the behavior of a true man of honor!
A conflict raged within her.
She didn’t want Lord Valerian Nox to come.
Yet, if he didn’t, he would bear the weight of shame…
The contradiction tore at her.
Suddenly, the sound of a helicopter broke through her despair.
Another aircraft roared into view, soaring over Redcloud Island at a thousand meters.
And from its open door, a white-clad figure descended from the sky like an immortal gracing the mortal realm, landing gracefully atop a mountain peak.
“My god! Jumping from a height of a thousand meters and landing like a feather-what kind of transcendent power is this?”
“His movements are just like Lord Valerian Nox’s leap from Swordgate Peak! Could it be him?”
“Who knows? We’re too far away. Even with binoculars, we can only make out a silhouette…”
The crowd broke into heated discussion.
At that moment, a thunderous cry erupted from one of Redcloud Island’s peaks.
“Lord Valerian Nox!”
The entire Titan Holdings Dragon Team knelt on one knee, facing the white-clad figure.
“It is him! Lord Valerian Nox has come!”
“Look-he’s standing on that mountain!”
“The battle is about to begin. Petrin Wilder should arrive soon!”
A torrent of murmurs surged around Redcloud Island, tinged with awe and admiration for Lord Valerian Nox.
Despite knowing the odds were stacked against him, he had come.
His disciple had been gravely injured, and he had not run away.
He came to seek justice.
Such courage-though he might die at Petrin Wilder’s hands-would leave no stain on his name.
Lord Valerian Nox was a true man!
As helicopters departed from Redcloud Island, the mountain was left with only Flynn and over a hundred kneeling members of the Greengate faction.
“P-please, we’re Master Phoenix’s direct subordinates. You… you can’t harm us!”
“Y-yes! You can hold us hostage. Master Phoenix will exchange your life for ours!”
“We can plead for mercy on your behalf! Master Phoenix might spare your life!”
The Greengate members trembled as they begged Flynn not to act rashly.
Even though they were Petrin Wilder’s elite-Lesser Sovereigns, with three Greater Sovereigns among them-they were powerless before Flynn.
Without a word, Flynn swung his sword.
“Slash!”
Ten Lesser Sovereign heads fell in unison.
Their bodies collapsed to the ground together.
Though those watching from the yachts could only make out rough silhouettes, they clearly saw Lord Valerian Nox’s sword motion and the simultaneous fall of the ten figures.
A shiver ran down every spine.
“Lord Valerian Nox just slaughtered Master Phoenix’s subordinates! This won’t go unanswered!”
“He’s outright challenging Master Phoenix! This is a provocation, an insult!”
“Ah, such recklessness. This is the folly of youth. After Lord Valerian Nox’s death, Master Phoenix will surely annihilate his friends and family!”
Heads shook in dismay.
They believed Lord Valerian Nox had cut off his own retreat, thoroughly enraging Petrin Wilder.
On Sleeve’s yacht, one of the Earthly Sovereigns looked toward the mountain and sneered.
“I heard you refused to join Sleeve.”
“Now you must regret it. With Sleeve’s backing, not even three Master Phoenixes would dare touch you.”
“But now, your legacy ends here.”
Just as the words left his mouth, the air around him became heavier, pressing down like an invisible weight.
The atmosphere grew increasingly oppressive with each breath.
A vast, boundless pressure descended, blotting out the sky and enveloping the sea.
The once-calm ocean surged with massive waves, crashing toward Redcloud Island in relentless layers.
The deafening sound of waves echoed like thunder.
Everyone’s minds buzzed, their faces turning pale as dizziness threatened to topple them.
Even the Earthly Sovereign on Sleeve’s yacht couldn’t hide his shock.
“Master Phoenix is here!”
Other Earthly Sovereigns cried out in alarm.
“Where? I don’t see him!”
“He’s not here yet, but his presence already blankets this world. It feels as though the heavens are collapsing. Terrifying!”
“There! On that massive oil tanker heading this way-on the bow!”
An elder who had once seen Petrin Wilder pointed toward the ship thirty miles from Redcloud Island, his voice trembling.
The ship’s horn blasted, warning nearby vessels to make way.
All eyes turned to the bow.
There, a single figure stood.
Clad in blue, towering and majestic.
He stood at the ship’s prow like a god gazing down from the heavens.
Or perhaps like an immortal, casting his gaze upon the mortal world.
He seemed to merge with the heavens and the earth, as if he was the embodiment of the very world itself.
In that moment, a chilling realization swept through the crowd.
Petrin Wilder was the heavens and the earth of this realm.
Every life hung on his whim.
With a single glance, he could reduce everything before him to ashes.
The aura of an immortal was on full display.
