Callie noticed that he was only in his early twenties and probably a newbie in the industry. At this young age, he had a promising future.
Not wishing to see him go off-track, she gave him some kind advice. “In our design industry, we must be sincere and stay passionately dedicated if we want to make progress. More important than the result is enjoying the process of the competition.”
With that, Callie no longer paid him any attention, opened the car door, and got in.
She started the car and drove away.
After Callie left, Lily emerged from a corner nearby. She looked at the photos on her phone with great satisfaction, unable to hide her glee.
Accepting bribes was a major taboo for judges.
With this evidence, Alice wouldn’t be able to clear her name no matter what she did.
Alice, you are destined to be eliminated.
“Grape’s mom, you’re here…” As soon as Callie arrived at the daycare, the teacher greeted her proactively.
“Where’s Grape?”
The teacher quickly replied, “In the classroom…”
Callie eagerly walked over but suddenly stopped in her tracks when she saw something…
In her line of sight, Nelson was playing with Grape. The man was still wearing what he wore yesterday, which were now visibly wrinkled.
Despite his slightly tired face, there was a hint of joy from becoming a father for the first time.
The two of them got along very well, and Grape seemed to have developed a bit of dependence on Nelson.
This scene was something she had imagined countless times before. She could feel Grape’s genuine happiness.
Blood ties truly are a magical thing…
Sensing her gaze, Nelson looked up. Their eyes met, and it felt as if time stood still.
“Callie…”
What must be faced cannot be avoided.
This time, Callie chose not to run away. She pushed open the door and walked in.
“Grape…”
“Mommy.” Grape ran towards her and hugged her leg tightly.
Callie’s heart melted. “Have you been a good kid today? Did you listen to the teacher?”
Grape nodded.
“Good… good… Grape is good.”
“Grape is awesome.”
Nelson stood aside, his eyes only on the mother and daughter. The longing he had suppressed for two years overflowed at this moment.
“Let me take you home.”
Grape’s eyes instantly lit up. Callie could clearly feel her anticipation… She had indeed overlooked her daughter’s longing for a father figure.
“Okay.”
Hearing Callie’s response, Nelson breathed a sigh of relief, his eyes brightening a bit. Grape sneaked a glance at Nelson, unable to hide her joy on her small face.
In the car, the atmosphere was quiet.
Nelson drove while Callie sat in the back seat with Grape in her arms. The air was silent; no one spoke. Callie stared out the window, lost in thought.
“Mommy…” Grape handed her toy to Callie.
Callie snapped out of her daze and looked at Grape in her arms, her heart softening.
When they got home, Callie got out of the car with Grape in her arms. Nelson quickly followed, “Mr. Oconnor, enough is enough…”
Nelson sighed, “I slept in the car all night. I’m very tired, my neck is sore, and I’m uncomfortable…”
Nelson’s vulnerability caught Callie off guard.
Looking at his weary face, Callie sighed helplessly. She always had a soft spot for Nelson.
