Anthony was already shocked, his hands trembling as he looked incredulously at Nelson’s bloodshot eyes. “That… that is Miss Marsh!”
Callie didn’t notice the emotional turmoil nearby; she continued with her work, blending in with the crowd.
It seemed she had nothing to do with him anymore.
Nelson closed his stinging eyes and opened them again. She was still there.
This time, it was neither an illusion nor a dream.
He clenched his fist and then released it, restraining himself several times before he refrained from going forward.
Anthony, however, couldn’t hold back. “Let’s go over there. It’s a hard-won chance.”
The news from Switzerland turned out to be true; it wasn’t just a rumor. Callie was really here.
“No.” Nelson’s voice was soft, his eyes fixed only on that woman, who was polite and dignified to others.
She seemed very happy.
“Find the organizer. I want her current information within ten minutes.”
Anthony complied and hurried off to handle it.
Callie didn’t leave; she sat there for more than three hours, continuously reviewing the competition entries.
Nelson also stayed there for three hours.
He didn’t move, carefully observing the woman not far away. The conclusion he reached was that she was indeed very relaxed and happy now.
At one moment, Nelson almost lost control.
The information Anthony brought back showed that Alice was Callie. Her details had been changed, including her name, appearance, and past experiences, which was why they hadn’t found her for the past two years.
At this time, Callie finished her work and got up to leave. Her steps were light and somewhat anxious.
Nelson immediately stood up as well.
“Sir.”
“Follow her.”
From a distance, Callie didn’t notice the man’s presence.
She left the venue and stood at the entrance for a while, occasionally fiddling with her phone as if waiting for someone.
“Alice.” A voice called out.
Callie looked up.
Nelson moved faster than she did.
A tall man approached slowly, with a child stumbling ahead of him, running towards Callie. “Mommy, I missed you!”
Nelson froze, his pupils contracting slightly.
Callie smiled and squatted down, hugging the child. “Were you a good kid today?”
“I was super good!”
The man had reached Callie and said with a smile, “She was very well-behaved.”
It was Nick, whom they had seen not long ago, gentle and refined.
Callie looked up and smiled at him. The man patted her shoulder. “Are you tired today?”
Callie shook her head. “Just routine work, not tiring at all.”
She didn’t mention the earlier difficulties at all, showing her understanding nature.
Anthony was so shocked he covered his mouth, not daring to look at Nelson’s expression beside him.
It was clear that Callie and this man had an unusual relationship.
At this moment, the sunlight shone on the three of them, and they looked very much like a happy family of three.
Nelson’s chest heaved; he couldn’t take a step forward for a long time. He watched as Callie stood up and walked away with the child in tow. The steadiness in her demeanor now carried a maternal glow.
Married, with a child?
What about him? Did their past mean nothing?
Only now did Nelson realize how wrong his past mistakes were. He had hurt her so deeply that she started a new life so quickly.
All of this felt like retribution, coming back to haunt him two years later.
His heart felt suffocated, the pain unbearable.
“Sir…” Anthony spoke with difficulty.
