Chapter 72
Tessy’s POV
The next day, I put on a brave face, dressing up in the outfit Anthony had chosen for me. My hands trembled as I applied my makeup, trying to hide the fear lurking beneath.
I really can’t believe I am going with Anthony to meet Eddy, they are like two devils for petite sake.
Anthony watched me, his eyes searching for any sign of weakness. “You look beautiful, Tessy,” he said, his voice low and reassuring. I really hope everything ends well today. I tried to play along with him and I am certain he has no idea I found out his secret.
As we left the villa, the sunlight seemed mocking, highlighting the darkness within Anthony.
We arrived at the warehouse, and my anxiety spiked.
“Anthony, I don’t think we should go in,” I said, trying to sound calm.
He smiled, his eyes glinting with reassurance. “Don’t worry, Tessy. I’ll call Eddy again, make sure everything’s okay.”
But I knew it was far from okay.
My heart racing, I scanned our surroundings. The warehouse loomed before us, its walls seeming to close in.
“Let’s just go back,” I pleaded, tugging on Anthony’s arm.
He chuckled, his grip tightening. “No, we need to face Eddy and he is still my little nephew, I messed up but I know I can talk to him..”
I knew Eddy’s capabilities but for Anthony, what if he really killed his nephew because of this threat?
The thought sent a chill down my spine.
“It’ll be fine,” Anthony whispered his breath against my ear.
We stepped into the warehouse, and I felt like I was walking into my worst nightmare.
Unexpectedly my dad came out of nowhere,
“Tessy, get away from him!” my dad roared, charging at Anthony with a ferocity that made my heart stop. His fist connected with Anthony’s jaw, sending him stumbling backward.
“You sick bastard!” Dad shouted, pummeling Anthony with blows. “You’ve been sleeping with my daughter, abusing her… How could you, you monster?”
“I thought you were my best friend, Tessy is my little girl and you f**ked her, I hate you!”
Anthony tried to defend himself, but Dad’s rage was unstoppable. “You’re supposed to be my blood! How could you betray me like this?”
I trembled, my vision blurring. “Stop! Please stop!” I begged, my voice cracking.
Anthony’s eyes met mine, pleading for help, but Dad wouldn’t listen. “Explain? You think you can explain this?” Dad’s anger was something else, his face twisted in disgust.
Anthony’s words were lost in the chaos. “Martin, I… I can explain… It’s not what you think.”
“I should have known,” Dad yelled.
I felt like I was suffocating, my breath caught in my throat. “Dad, please!” I screamed, grabbing his arm.
But he wouldn’t stop.
In desperation, I blurted out the truth. “Stop! I’m pregnant with Anthony’s child!”
The words hung in the air like a bomb, freezing everyone in place.
Dad’s fist halted mid-air, his face transforming from rage to stunned disbelief.
Anthony’s eyes widened in shock, his gaze locked onto mine.
And I stood there, trembling, my heart racing, waiting for the fallout. I know I shouldn’t have said it now, this is not my perfect timing but I have no other choice but to say the truth out because of the current situation of things now.
“Tessy, what did you just say?” Daddy asked, his voice shaking with shock.
I burst into tears, the words tumbling out. “Daddy, I’m pregnant with Anthony’s child. I’m sorry!”
Dad’s face crumpled, and he staggered backward, as if struck by an invisible blow. “Daddy, I am sorry!” I sobbed.
He sank to the ground, tears streaming down his face. “But why him? He’s my age mate, old enough to be your father!” Dad yelled, his voice cracking.
“Tell me the truth, did he also abuse you? Did he force you?” Dad’s eyes pleaded for the truth.
I took a deep breath. “Daddy, I love him. He never hurt me. Eddy did… that’s why I still have injuries.” I revealed, my voice trembling.
Dad’s expression changed from anger to concern. “Tessy, how long did you know you were pregnant?”
“Some days ago,” I admitted. “But I planned to tell you.”
Dad’s face hardened. “If he never hurt you, then oh no!” He jumped up, his eyes locked onto Anthony.
“What is it?” Anthony asked, sensing something was amiss.
Dad’s voice dripped with venom. “This is a trap to bring us together, Anthony, you fool, I told you to leave New York because we can’t be in the same place, damn it.”
He lunged at Anthony again, but a loud clap interrupted the chaos.
Eddy emerged, a sly grin spreading across his face. “You’re so smart, Mr. Martins. Now I respect why you’re named Dragon.”
My mind reeled. Why is he calling my father Dragon?
Dad’s eyes met Anthony’s, shock and confusion mirrored on their faces.
“Eddy, was this a setup?” Anthony demanded. “Who put you up to this?”
Eddy chuckled. “Someone big in the business offered me a deal, he said just bring him Dragon and Viper, and I’ll get power, fame, wealth, and territory.”
The room fell silent, the weight of Eddy’s words hanging in the air.
What does it mean? Who is behind this?
“You fool, this isn’t a kid’s game,” Anthony warned, his voice firm. “Back down now and tell me, it’s not too late, nephew.”
“Dad, what’s going on?” I begged, confusion etched on my face. “Why is he calling you Dragon?”
My dad’s eyes locked onto mine, a mix of sadness and regret.
“Oh, sweetheart, you still don’t know… Well…”But Eddy could finish, a loud gunshot echoed through the warehouse. Eddy’s head jerked back, his body crumpling to the ground. I screamed, my voice piercing the air.
My father and Anthony instinctively pulled out guns, their faces set in determined lines.
Is this real? Am I trapped in a nightmare?
I stared at Eddy’s lifeless body, my heart racing with fear. My legs trembled beneath me, tears streaming down my face.
Suddenly, a figure emerged from the shadows, a scorpion mask covering his face. His voice dripped with confidence. “He talks too much. Well, I’m done with him. But I shouldn’t have killed him, right? He led me to you two.”
My dad and Anthony trained their guns on the masked figure. “Who the hell are you?” they demanded in unison.
The scorpion mask sneered. “How dare you kill my nephew?” Anthony yelled, his anger boiling over.
The masked figure shrugged. “Are you sure? Then go ahead, and she dies.”
His gaze locked onto me, and I felt a chill run down my spine. My dad and Anthony exchanged a worried glance.
Why is Dad lowering his gun? Why is Anthony doing the same?
Red laser dots danced across my body, casting an ominous glow. I’d only seen this in movies.
“Just one mistake, she dies!” the scorpion mask warned, his voice dripping with malice.
My breath caught in my throat. Am I going to die?
Panic set in, my mind racing with desperate thoughts. Please, someone, help me!
Sophia walks in with her gun also pointing at me, wait does this mean Sophia is evil? I suddenly remembered the scorpion tattoo I saw on her waist, so all these time I was surrounded by mafias? Now I am going to die for what I have no idea about?
TBC.
