Chapter 54
Tessy’s POV
I made up my mind to know about the story and it’s just to while away time as well that’s all.
“Okay let’s hear it.” I smiled at her.
“Dragon and Viper are like twins you know but have you ever wondered what made them the dangerous Mafia’s today?”
I nodded my head because I had no answers to give.
“Well they were more than just Dragon and Viper,” Sophia began, her words dripping with reverence. “They started as two best friends, trained by one of the richest and most powerful Mafia Dons of all time. Rumor has it he took them in when they were still children. A mastermind who forged them into unstoppable weapons.”
I guess I am going to enjoy this story, not even the Internet has something like this.
“Their mentor they called Father taught them everything from strategy to combat, molding them into a formidable duo,” She explained. “They became his right and left hands, executing his will with precision and ruthlessness.”
Sophia paused, studying me with an intense gaze.
“They won territories for their boss, expanding his empire.” she continued. “But he knew the dangers of their line of work. He wanted to protect them, give them a chance at a normal life.”
“How?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Sophia’s eyes sparkled like diamonds.
“Their boss created masks for them the Dragon and Viper,” she revealed. “No one saw their faces, only the symbols of power. They could walk among us, unnoticed.”
Sophia’s words painted a vivid picture and I suddenly remembered the mask I saw, it was the Viper mask and my memory as a kid was that of the Dragon too.
“That’s why no one knows their true identities,” Sophia continued. “Their boss ensured their anonymity, keeping them safe from enemies and admirers alike, I doubt they were capable of love, I wonder who would want to date them.”
“What made them famous anyway?” I wanted to know more.
Sophia’s expression turned solemn.
“They saved a school bus full of students from terrorists,” she said. “The police were helpless, but Dragon and Viper infiltrated the hijackers’ hideout, freeing the hostages.”
“Was it on the news?” I asked because I never saw it.
Sophia shook her head.
“No, the news reported that the terrorists were killed in a ‘bloody internal conflict.'” She leaned in closer. “But the truth is, Dragon and Viper took them down. None of the terrorists survived.”
My eyes widened as I grasped the magnitude. No wonder, now I understand the whole thing.
“But come to think of it, how on earth did they do it?” I questioned my thoughts but never knew I said it out loud.
Sophia’s voice dropped to a whisper.
“Dragon and Viper are like an army so maybe they went undercover, gathering intel,” she guessed. “Then, they struck simultaneously, taking out the terrorists one by one. It was a precision operation.”
That sounds fair but I am still wondering how on earth two men took down those terrorists but remembering what happened to us, I will say it’s possible.
“Do you also know what bound them together?” I asked because I am certain she will know it as well since she is narrating their story to me.
Sophia smiled.
“They had a tattoo of friendship two intertwined snakes, one bearing the Dragon’s scale, the other the Viper’s fang,” she said. “It symbolized their unbreakable bond.”
As Sophia continued with her story, I felt a mix of emotions.
Were Dragon and Viper heroes or villains? Or both?
Their legacy was complex, woven from threads of fear and respect.
People whispered about them in hushed tones, as if speaking too loudly would summon them.
Their names were synonymous with dread.
Rivals trembled at the mention.
The police were baffled. Their operations were flawless.
They were ghosts. Two men, an army. Their bond is unbreakable. Their reign was unparalleled.
The fear of them was the beginning of wisdom.
Only fools underestimated them I thought and they were my worst nightmares too.
“Tell me more,” I urged, wanting to know more.
Sophia leaned back.
“There’s the story of the rival Mafia family they took down,” she began. “The Rossis thought they could challenge Dragon and Viper’s authority. But they were brutally mistaken.”
Sophia’s eyes gleamed.”Dragon and Viper orchestrated a sting operation, infiltrating the Rossis’ inner circle. They gathered evidence, waited for the perfect moment, and struck. The Rossis’ empire crumbled overnight.”I gasped.
“That’s impressive.”
Sophia nodded.”And there’s the tale of the corrupt politician they exposed,” she continued. “Senator Jenkins thought he was above the law, taking bribes and lining his pockets. Dragon and Viper gathered evidence, anonymously leaking it to the press.”
My eyes widened.”The senator’s downfall was swift and public,” Sophia said. “Dragon and Viper sent a message: no one was untouchable.”
“So if you want to be in power, be at peace with their master cause order from their master, boom you see them in action. He also made it a law, that those who see their faces must die.”
As Sophia spoke, I realized why I was in danger but I never saw any of their faces, why are they after me anyway?
Their anonymity came at the price of their true identities. Their bond was forged in blood and loyalty.
“Did they ever have families?” I asked because I wondered about it and Sophia’s expression softened.
“They had each other. That was enough.”
I nodded, understanding.
Sophia’s eyes sparkled with a mix of awe and fear.
“Tessy, do you know they have a killing signature, they are more ruthless than the devil you know, like who kills that way!”
“What’s that?” I asked, curiosity burning within me.
“I want to know, tell me.”
“Dragon and Viper had a killing signature,” she began. “Viper used the iron fist, crushing his enemies without pity. But Dragon… Dragon was different.”
Sophia paused and sipped from her drink,
“Dragon had the same iron fist, but he was more ruthless,” she continued. “He didn’t just kill; he incinerated. He burned his victims to ashes, leaving nothing but dust and fear.”
I couldn’t stop creating images of everything she was saying about these two ruthless killers.
“Some years ago, the notorious Red Bull gang emerged in Spain, was it Spain or Italy? I have forgotten, they were known in so many towns,” she said, itching her hair. “So they thought they could take on Dragon and Viper’s empire, but they were brutally mistaken.”
Sophia’s voice dropped to a whisper, “Dragon and Viper infiltrated the Red Bull gang’s stronghold, taking out key members one by one,” she explained. “Viper crushed their soldiers with his iron fist, while Dragon burned their leaders to ashes.”
“The Red Bull gang’s downfall was swift and merciless,” Sophia said. “Dragon and Viper sent a message: no one challenges their authority and lives.”
The News headline flashed in my mind:
“RED BULL GANG DECIMATED: Mystery Attackers Leave Trail of Destruction”The news had reported: I remember seeing it while I was researching it.
“Multiple sources confirm the Red Bull gang’s sudden collapse, citing ‘internal conflicts’ and ‘mysterious external forces.'”But Sophia’s story revealed the truth.
“There’s another part to the Dragon and Viper legend,” she whispered.
“What’s that? Can you stop putting me in suspense and just tell me everything?” I asked.
“Wow someone is interested in my story, okay this is the last, well their mentor, the master who trained them, disappeared suddenly,” Sophia said.
“What happened?” I pressed.
“No one knows,” Sophia replied. “Some say Dragon and Viper betrayed him, killed him.”
I gasped.
“Others claim they died alongside their master,” Sophia continued. “The underworld was left with only rumors and speculation.”
“But recent events suggest Dragon and Viper may still be alive,” she said. “Or, at least, their legacy lives on.”
“Yes, it says in the news that Dragon has a daughter and Viper a lover so they will want to protect them at all costs,” I said but Sophia started laughing out loud.
“What’s funny? Why are you laughing?”
“Come on, you don’t believe my story right? Oh, mine you do??” She asked weirdly looking at me, is she insane? Why won’t I believe everything she is saying, it’s so real and relatable to what happened to me.
“Well I heard the tale from someone drunk when I was still in high school, so it’s not true, just a usual tale, like Cinderella tale you know, maybe people are just trying to copy the story, we never can tell.”
“I hate you, Sophia, you just wasted my evening, I am going to bed.” I stood up angrily, I even wanted to ask her how she knew everything, like she experienced it herself but seeing some drunk man tell her the tale, it could be true and still not be true.
“Relax, come on even if it’s true, it won’t be of any help to us, let’s just enjoy the moment for now okay?” She said and I decided to be calm, I guess I overreacted.
We decided to talk about other things like fashion and it was great talking to her. Suddenly I took note of something, when she bent I saw a scorpion tattoo on her waist.
