Clara hesitated inwardly but ultimately decided to invite Ethan.
“Would you… like to go?” Clara asked Ethan hesitantly.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, deliberately pretending not to understand. “Go where?”
Clara looked at Ethan. Someone as smart as him definitely knew what she was asking, so… he was doing this on purpose, deliberately asking such a question.
Clara felt displeased. She pressed her lips together and said nothing.
From Ethan’s response… it seemed he didn’t want to go.
If Ethan cared, he should have offered to accompany her to her cousin’s wedding without her having to ask.
Jerk!
“Nothing,” Clara said.
She would go by herself.
At worst, she’d just have to listen to all the gossip from those nosy relatives.
At worst, it would go in one ear and out the other.
Ethan looked at Clara and raised an eyebrow… so now the little girl had learned to sulk?
Tsk… she was certainly making progress.
But… he clearly remembered when they first got married, she was so quiet and obedient, doing whatever he said. Now… was she giving him attitude over one little disagreement?
Had he really spoiled her that much?
Sigh… what could he do with a woman he’d spoiled himself? Of course, he could only continue to indulge her.
“Do you want me to accompany you to your cousin’s wedding?” Ethan asked.
Clara glanced at Ethan, her lips slightly pouting.
See?
She knew it. Ethan was doing this on purpose. He clearly knew what she was talking about.
Yet he still pretended not to know.
Why was this man so devious?
“Do you want to go?” Clara asked.
Ethan asked, “Do you want me to go?”
Since she had taken the initiative to ask, naturally she hoped Ethan would go.
But Ethan… was now asking her this way.
This man was truly awful.
Clara looked at Ethan. She wouldn’t admit it, wouldn’t admit that in her heart she wanted Ethan to go.
“Not really,” Clara said. “I was just asking if you’re going or not. Either way is fine. I need to book the tickets.”
Ethan looked at Clara, raised an eyebrow, and said, “Well, if it doesn’t matter whether I go or not… then I won’t go.”
Clara felt a little disappointed.
But not too disappointed.
She had actually anticipated that Ethan wouldn’t go.
Because she was going for seven days, and Ethan was very busy. He couldn’t possibly be away for that long… She actually hadn’t expected Ethan to go for the entire time. She had thought she would go first, and then Ethan could come on the actual day of her cousin’s wedding.
Then after attending the wedding, they would leave. This way, it would only take up about a day and a half of his time.
Ethan watched Clara.
Clara… didn’t seem to have any intention of inviting him again.
Had he… by playing hard to get once, completely shut down his chances?
What now?
Would he have to take the initiative and say he wanted to attend her cousin’s wedding together?
But… taking the initiative wasn’t his style.
However… he really did want to go.
He wanted to attend the wedding of Clara’s beloved cousin with her.
“If… you beg me, I might consider going,” Ethan said to Clara.
Clara blinked, looking at Ethan in confusion.
Beg him?
How should she beg him?
Get down on her knees and beg?
That would be too much, wouldn’t it?
Men’s knees were said to be worth gold, but weren’t women’s knees valuable too?
Seeing Clara’s expression, Ethan knew she had misunderstood.
“Tonight… be good,” Ethan said in a husky voice.
Clara looked at Ethan in confusion. What did he mean by “be good”?
Wasn’t she always good?
Clara had always thought of herself as quite obedient. If she weren’t, Ethan would threaten to make himself a widower. How could she dare not be good?
Looking at Clara’s innocent, confused face, Ethan sighed inwardly.
Ah…
How could this young woman still be so pure even after marriage? How could she not understand any of his hints?
She was truly hopeless.
Ethan moved closer to Clara, leaning in slightly.
Clara widened her eyes, watching Ethan. What was he trying to do?
Did he think she wasn’t being good and wanted to discipline her?
She nervously held her breath.
Ethan leaned in close to Clara’s ear and whispered softly, “Tonight… in bed… kneel and beg me.”
Clara’s face reddened slightly from Ethan’s proximity, but she looked at him… still not understanding.
If she had to kneel and beg, why did it have to be on the bed?
Was Ethan worried about her knees getting hurt, so he wanted her to kneel on the soft bed?
Seeing that Clara still didn’t understand, Ethan said nothing more. After all, she had always been clueless… it was normal for her not to understand. But he would make her understand.
Ethan put his arm around Clara and led her to the bed…
Later… Clara finally begged Ethan.
Kneeling… begging him…
The consequence of kneeling and begging Ethan was that Clara overslept again the next morning, sleeping until noon before getting up.
After getting up, she washed up, ate lunch, and went to the office.
When she arrived at the office, Stephanie was the only one in the secretary’s office.
Stephanie looked at Clara and asked with a smile, “Mrs. Logan, did you oversleep again today?”
Clara’s face reddened with embarrassment as she shook her head. “No… I had something to do this morning.”
“Oh…” Stephanie’s eyes were full of innuendo as she let out a meaningful “oh”… clearly not believing her.
Clara’s face grew even redder.
She didn’t explain further.
After all… explaining would be covering up, and covering up would confirm the truth.
She wouldn’t say anything more.
Let Stephanie think whatever she wanted.
Anyway… whatever she thought would be correct. She had indeed come in late because she’d overslept.
But… this really wasn’t her fault.
It was all because of Ethan. He had kept her up all night, making her beg him… it had completely exhausted her.
Clara had barely sat down when the internal phone on her desk rang.
Only Ethan would call her internal line, so… how did Ethan know she had arrived at the office?
Had he installed surveillance cameras in the secretary’s office?
Clara picked up the phone.
“Make me a cup of coffee,” Ethan said, then coolly hung up.
Clara complained in her heart.
Hmph.
Jerk!
Clara obediently made coffee for Ethan. After brewing it, thinking about everything from the night before, she looked at the coffee in front of her… and was really tempted to spit in it, but then thought that would be too disgusting, so in the end… she didn’t spit in it. She carried the coffee, knocked on Ethan’s office door, and went inside.
When she entered, Ethan was working.
Hearing footsteps, he looked up at Clara.
“Mr. Logan, your coffee,” Clara said in a stiff, formal tone, placing the freshly brewed, steaming coffee on the desk.
Ethan looked at the still-steaming coffee and raised an eyebrow. “Did you spit in it?”
Clara’s face reddened, feeling a bit guilty. Although she hadn’t actually spit in the coffee, she had considered it.
“No,” Clara said.
But her red face and uneasy gaze made her look very guilty.
“Really?” Ethan raised an eyebrow.
Clara nodded. “Yes, really.”
Ethan said, “I don’t believe you.”
“… Then don’t drink it.”
But Ethan said nothing, just picked up the coffee and took a sip.
Clara’s coffee was average, not particularly good, but not bad either.
“If you thought I spat in it, why did you still drink it?” Clara asked.
Was he deliberately teasing her?
Ethan gave Clara a deep look and said, “It’s not like I haven’t tasted your saliva before.”
Clara was stunned for a moment before she reacted.
Then her face turned bright red in an instant. She glared at Ethan with embarrassment and annoyance, then turned and left.
Hmph!
Jerk.
He had such a stoic, emotionless face. But his words… no one could be more provocative.
The most proper face, using the coldest tone, saying the most provocative things.
That was Ethan in a nutshell.
Clara returned to her office.
Seeing Clara’s flushed cheeks, Stephanie thought to herself… Mrs. Logan was really shy, seeming to blush at the slightest thing… Who knows what happened while making coffee for Mr. Logan to make her face so red.
Perhaps… they had kissed?
Stephanie stared at Clara’s lips, but no… Mrs. Logan’s lipstick wasn’t smudged at all, the color was perfect.
No kiss?
Then why was Mrs. Logan blushing…
Mrs. Logan’s tendency to blush and become shy so easily was really adorable. Mr. Logan must absolutely love this shy little demeanor of hers.
