Chapter 110: Clara, You’re Such a Fool

Book:It All Turns Out Great Published:2025-4-9

Was Stephanie usually this good at comforting Ethan?
“I think… he’s not angry,” Clara said, ignoring her conscience.
Stephanie looked at Clara.
Was she serious?
Mr. Logan’s anger was so obvious… yet she claimed he wasn’t upset?
Was Clara really that clueless?
“I think… Mr. Logan is angry,” Stephanie said.
Clara looked at Stephanie and replied, “Well, I think he’s not angry. If you think he is, then… why don’t you go comfort him?”
Stephanie stared at Clara, a bit bewildered.
Comfort Mr. Logan?
She wouldn’t dare.
Besides, what position did she have to comfort Mr. Logan?
Stephanie imagined herself holding Ethan’s hand, swaying it gently, and sweetly saying: Mr. Logan, don’t be angry… I love you the most, don’t be angry… Come on, give me a kiss… A kiss and you’ll stop being angry.
Stephanie shuddered at the thought… just imagining it was terrifying.
She simply couldn’t do it.
“I… comforting him wouldn’t help. I’m not anyone to Mr. Logan, and he’s not angry with me,” Stephanie said.
Clara blinked and looked at Stephanie in confusion.
Stephanie said she wasn’t anyone to Ethan?
Was she serious?
Or was she deliberately saying this for her to hear?
“He’s not angry with you, so is he angry with me?” Clara asked.
Stephanie nodded, “It’s quite obvious, Mr. Logan is indeed angry with you.”
In the past, no matter what she did-curling her hair, doing her nails, playing games-Ethan never cared about her actions, let alone got angry. As long as she did her job well, Ethan let her be, never interfering or getting upset.
Mr. Logan was a cold person.
Especially towards those unrelated to him, he was extremely indifferent. She didn’t have the ability to affect Mr. Logan’s emotions.
Honestly… not everyone could make Mr. Logan angry.
It required certain people to do so.
Like… his wife.
Clara felt it was unfair.
“We were both playing games together; I didn’t provoke him. Why is he angry with me and not with you?” Clara asked Stephanie.
Did Clara want fairness?
But their statuses were different… How could Mr. Logan treat them equally?
Clara was Mr. Logan’s wife, his closest person in the world.
And she… what was she?
She was just an ordinary employee under Mr. Logan.
How could she be the same as Clara?
“Anyway… Mrs. Logan, you should go comfort Mr. Logan. Really… I understand men, Mrs. Logan. If you go comfort Mr. Logan now, he’ll stop being angry soon… If you don’t comfort him and let him stew, he’ll get angrier and angrier. When Mr. Logan gets angry… it’s very scary,” Stephanie said.
She had seen Ethan angry before.
Sometimes when subordinates failed tasks or messed up work, Mr. Logan would get angry… The way Mr. Logan looked when angry made everyone in the company fearful!
Although Mr. Logan didn’t hit or scold people or deduct bonuses, just the way he sat there with a sullen face and stared intensely at people was terrifying enough to make one’s skin crawl!
Mr. Logan’s gaze seemed to have a penetrating force.
Clara wanted to say firmly: I’m not going.
But Stephanie’s words successfully scared her.
As Ethan’s closest person, she naturally knew how frightening Ethan could be when angry.
She realized that maybe she had indeed upset Ethan.
She should listen to Stephanie and try to comfort Ethan… If she could make him happy again, it would be a win-win situation.
But… did she really have to do as Stephanie suggested? Hold Ethan’s hand and sweetly say: Honey, don’t be angry, I love you the most…
She felt… she couldn’t do it.
“I’ll… go take a look,” Clara said.
First, she’d go see Ethan.
Test if Ethan was really angry.
What if… they were mistaken?
What if Ethan wasn’t angry?
“Okay.” Stephanie nodded and said, “Mrs. Logan, trust me, it’s true… men need comforting.”
Clara nodded reluctantly and then stood up, leaving the secretary’s office and heading towards Ethan’s office.
At the door of Ethan’s office, she raised her hand and gently knocked twice. Not hearing any response from inside… she hesitated for a moment before cautiously pushing the door open and peeking inside.
Ethan was sitting in his office working.
Seeing someone open the door, he merely lifted his head for a glance and continued focusing on his computer when he saw it was her.
Clara felt that Ethan seemed genuinely angry.
Feeling anxious and guilty, Clara walked in, closed the door behind her, and approached Ethan’s desk to look at him.
Ethan pretended not to notice Clara and kept working.
He was indeed angry.
Ethan’s cold demeanor made Clara want to retreat.
Really… Ethan’s cold expression made him seem particularly unapproachable and made one want to shrink back…
But what good would retreating do now?
What would happen when they got home tonight?
Others could escape from Ethan after work, but after work, she still had to go home with Ethan-to the same home.
“Are you… angry?” Clara asked Ethan softly.
Ethan didn’t speak or look at Clara; he continued staring at his computer as if he hadn’t heard Clara speak.
Clara looked at Ethan and thought he was really… annoying.
She truly disliked people like Ethan.
If you’re angry, just say so.
Speak your mind directly.
If something she did upset him, he should tell her so she could change it.
His silent treatment with a cold face… was he giving her the cold shoulder?
Clara really didn’t want to deal with Ethan; she wanted to turn around and leave… If he wanted to give her the cold shoulder, fine; it’s not like she couldn’t do the same.
But… she held back.
Leaving now wouldn’t help; she’d face consequences tonight at home.
She was afraid.
“Why are you angry?” Clara asked. “Did I do something that upset you?”
Ethan finally reacted by lifting his eyes and looking coldly at Clara. He said indifferently, “What do you think?”
He wanted Clara to come work at the company so she’d focus on him.
And what did Clara do?
She spent all day cozying up with Stephanie instead.
As for him… she completely ignored him.
She didn’t ask if he was hungry or thirsty… He had to call Clara to get tea or coffee from her.
With her ignoring him like this, how could he not be angry?
Clara looked at Ethan and was now certain that he was indeed angry-and with her specifically.
Yet she didn’t understand what had upset him so much.
He wanted her to say it?
If she knew what it was already, would she need to ask him?
“I won’t play games during work anymore,” Clara sincerely apologized. She thought perhaps it was her gaming during work hours that had upset Ethan.
“Heh…” Ethan sneered and looked mockingly at Clara: “Clara, you’re such a fool.”
Clara looked at Ethan feeling a bit wronged… If she did something wrong, he should just say it directly so she could apologize.
But why did he have to resort to verbal insults?
What did he mean by calling her a fool?
She got into her current university through merit; it’s a renowned institution nationally-could a fool get into such a prestigious university?
A fool is basically an idiot, right?
If anyone else said this about her before now she’d have been furious and left them speechless with her retorts.
But these words came from Ethan himself…
She could only listen quietly without daring to argue back.
His words implied that his anger wasn’t due to her gaming during work hours after all.
Then why exactly was he mad?
Men’s thoughts were really too hard to guess…
Today aside from gaming during work hours, she hadn’t done anything else that might have upset him either.
He was inexplicably getting mad.
