Chapter 90: Nora Fell into the Water

Book:It All Turns Out Great Published:2025-4-9

Clara noticed Nora staring at her without speaking and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Nora replied, “Nothing.”
She couldn’t understand.
She had dealt with Iris Everett many times. Iris was a typical manipulative person, always pretending. But while she could see through Iris easily, Clara was different.
It felt like punching cotton; no matter what she said, Clara remained calm. Was Clara pretending to be naive, or was she genuinely clueless?
Should she be more direct?
Should she say: “I am your husband’s first love, I still like him, and I want to take him away from you”?
Clara looked at Nora and thought for a moment before saying, “You and Ethan are in the past. You’re so beautiful; you’ll definitely meet someone better than Ethan.”
Nora’s heart sneered. She thought Clara was truly naive, but it turned out she was pretending.
Was this a veiled warning to stop bothering Ethan?
Who was Clara to comment on her relationship with Ethan?
When she dated Ethan, Clara wasn’t even around. And Clara knew the circumstances under which she married Ethan. A woman who could be abandoned at any moment had no right to tell her to give up on Ethan.
“Are you warning me to stay away from Ethan?” Nora asked coldly.
Clara blinked, “No.”
She really didn’t mean that.
Nora had been staring at her, making her feel awkward, so she just said it offhandedly. Besides, she thought what she said made sense.
“What do you mean then?” Nora asked.
Clara replied, “I don’t mean anything.”
Nora stared at Clara.
“If you don’t need anything else, I’ll leave now,” Clara said.
She felt very awkward. She had no experience dealing with her husband’s first love.
Staying here with Nora made her uncomfortable.
“Wait…” Nora instinctively grabbed Clara’s hand.
Clara turned to look at Nora.
Then… Nora’s hand suddenly loosened, and she fell backward into the pond, causing a splash.
Clara was stunned by what she saw.
This…
When Nora brought her to the pond earlier, she wondered if Nora might deliberately fall into the water to frame her.
At that time, she thought she might have watched too many TV dramas. Real life wasn’t like TV dramas; it wasn’t that dramatic. But now, reality proved to be more dramatic than fiction.
“Ah… someone fell into the water.”
A woman’s high-pitched scream echoed through the venue as people gathered around the pond.
Oh no.
It felt like she couldn’t clear her name even if she jumped into the Yellow River.
Looking at Nora struggling in the water, she wondered if jumping into this pond would clear her name.
A man jumped into the water and pulled Nora out, helping her onto the shore.
“Nora? How did you fall into the water?”
“Here, Nora, are you cold? Put this on.”
“Thank you,” Nora forced a smile. Her wet hair clung to her shoulders as she hugged herself, shivering slightly… looking very pitiful.
“How did you fall into the water?” Nora’s friend asked.
Nora glanced at Clara and forced a smile, “It’s nothing… I was careless.”
“Careless?” Nora’s friend looked at Clara and said sarcastically, “I think someone did it on purpose.”
Instantly, all eyes were on Clara.
They were suspicious, doubtful, mocking…
Nora’s friend approached Clara and asked directly, “Did you push Nora into the water?”
Clara met her gaze directly and said, “No.”
Nora’s friend frowned, “Are you still denying it?”
Clara replied, “What would I deny? Why would I push her into the water? I have no grudge against her.”
“Jenny, enough… It’s really not Clara’s fault. I was careless. Clara didn’t do it on purpose,” Nora said.
Clara looked at Nora.
Really… she hadn’t expected Nora to be like this.
Ethan’s first love turned out to be such a despicable person.
When she first met Nora, she thought Nora was beautiful and noble. Later… after learning that Nora was Ethan’s first love, she thought Nora must be proud like Ethan.
Proud people conquer everything with their abilities, not with schemes and tricks.
But now, Nora was no different from those scheming women around her.
“If it wasn’t on purpose, then it was intentional?” Jenny glared at Clara.
“What happened?” The Logan family members arrived.
Grace first saw the soaked and disheveled Nora.
She was shocked and quickly went to Nora’s side, asking with concern, “Nora, what happened?”
Nora forced a smile at Grace and said, “Auntie, I’m fine… I just accidentally fell into the water.”
Jenny quickly said, “Auntie, no! Clara pushed Nora into the water.”
Grace frowned and looked at Clara. She asked coldly, “Did you push her?”
Clara replied, “No.”
Grace’s frown deepened. “Then why did Nora fall into the water?”
Clara said hesitantly, “Would you believe me if I said she jumped in herself?”
Grace responded, “Nonsense. Why would Nora jump in herself?”
Clara thought for a moment and said, “Maybe… to frame me.”
Clara began to explain confidently, “Mom, you’ve watched TV dramas too. Don’t they always show this? The evil second female lead deliberately falls into the water to frame the female lead so that everyone thinks the female lead pushed her. They accuse the female lead of being a malicious woman.”
This plot… really… had been overused in various TV dramas.
It strangely made some sense.
So in Clara’s view, she was the evil second female lead? And Clara herself was the female lead?
Ha…
She really knew how to flatter herself.
At this moment, Ethan arrived.
He saw the crowd surrounding Nora and Clara… saw the soaked Nora and roughly understood what had happened.
“What happened?” He asked as he approached Clara.
Before Clara could speak, Grace interrupted angrily.
“Ethan, Clara pushed Nora into the water,” Grace said angrily.
Ethan looked at Nora.
Nora looked at Ethan and said, “Ethan… I was careless. Don’t blame Clara; she didn’t do it on purpose…”
“Oh.” Ethan responded indifferently and said to Grace, “You heard her; she fell in by herself.”
No.
Did Ethan not understand what Nora implied?
She said Clara didn’t do it on purpose… which meant Clara did push her into the water.
“Ethan, Nora is being magnanimous by not holding it against Clara… But as a daughter-in-law of our Logan family, Clara can’t be so malicious… Pushing someone into the water is attempted murder,” Grace said angrily.
Clara blinked, “Attempted murder?”
She looked at Nora and Grace and then at the small pond behind them.
“This water isn’t deep enough to drown anyone,” Clara said.
When someone jumped in to pull Nora out earlier, she estimated that the water was only about 1. 2 meters deep.
It couldn’t drown an adult.
Was that the point?
Ethan nodded at Clara and said, “Yes, it indeed can’t drown anyone.”
Clara continued, “And if I wanted to commit murder… wouldn’t I find a secluded place to do it quietly? Am I crazy to try and kill her in front of everyone?”
Were they questioning her intelligence?
Her intelligence… She got into a prestigious university based on her own merits!!!
