Chapter 74: Giving You Some Tips

Benjamin asked, “How am I emotionally unintelligent?”
Clara replied, “In every way.”
Benjamin looked at Clara and said, “Calling you plain is being emotionally unintelligent?”
Clara looked back at him and said, “Isn’t it?”
A person with even a bit of emotional intelligence would never tell a woman to her face that she’s plain and that her husband is only with her because he’s tired of rich food and finds her refreshing.
She had a good temper.
If it were someone with a bad temper, they would have already beaten Benjamin up.
“You just can’t handle the truth,” Benjamin said. “I’m telling you this for your own good. Why can’t you see that?”
Clara rolled her eyes at him and said, “I don’t need your kindness.”
She turned to leave, not wanting to argue further. Benjamin followed her, continuing to chatter in her ear, “I’m really doing this for your own good. Women should dress up and look nice. Look at you now, dressed like a student… so plain. When I first met you, I thought you were quite decent.”
Clara ignored him.
Of course.
Their first meeting was at a party Nora had invited her to, and she had spent hours being styled by the best professionals. How could she not look good?
Did he expect her to spend hours every day on styling and makeup?
She didn’t have that much time.
And it was too troublesome.
“Women need to keep things fresh for men, to surprise them and give them a different feeling,” Benjamin said. “My words may not sound nice, but my intentions are good. I’m genuinely thinking of you. After all, we’re comrades on the same boat. If you’re good, then I’m good. If everyone is good, that’s truly good.”
Clara felt like her ears were about to explode.
How could a man talk so much?
Would he die if he stopped talking?
Clara suddenly stopped walking.
She looked at Benjamin.
Why did she suddenly stop?
And why was she looking at him like that?
“Thank you for the reminder,” Clara said. “Don’t worry, I’ll hold on to my husband tightly and not give other women a chance… Does that reassure you?”
Benjamin asked, “How do you plan to hold on to him?”
Did she have to tell him everything?
“Do you want me to teach you a few tricks?” Benjamin said. “I’m a man; I understand men. I know what men think.”
Clara looked at Benjamin disdainfully. “Do you think Ethan is like you? Although you’re both men… it’s obvious Ethan is different from you. Otherwise… why do you think Nora likes Ethan and not you?”
Benjamin looked at Clara with a hint of melancholy.
Sharp-tongued.
This young girl, with her baby fat and soft appearance… how could she be so annoying when she spoke?
“We men like gentle women. You need to change your temper,” Benjamin said.
Clara rolled her eyes at Benjamin disdainfully, ignored him, and continued walking.
Benjamin stubbornly followed her.
“I’m serious. Don’t think I’m trying to harm you,” Benjamin said.
Clara walked on and said, “You don’t understand.”
Benjamin asked, “What don’t I understand?”
Clara replied, “You don’t understand men… Think about it, aren’t all the women Ethan meets gentle and obedient to him?”
Although he didn’t want to admit it, it seemed true.
“So… Ethan has seen many such women and is tired of them. Such women can’t interest Ethan at all… Someone like me, with a temper and personality, makes Ethan feel I’m different from other women. I’m unique. People are always attracted to unique things,” Clara said.
Although… she was very gentle and obedient to Ethan in private.
But… that didn’t affect her bragging in front of Benjamin.
Who wouldn’t brag?
Benjamin was stunned for a moment, thinking that what Clara said seemed… quite reasonable.
He looked at Clara in surprise. She looked so young and innocent… who knew she had such a mind?
In that case… could he have some expectations?
Expectations that Clara could win Ethan’s heart?
Benjamin was about to encourage Clara when a car stopped beside them.
The driver rolled down the window.
Clara and Benjamin looked over.
They saw Ethan sitting in the back seat.
The driver got out and opened the door for Ethan.
Ethan got out of the car and walked over to Clara, saying, “Let’s go.”
Clara obediently followed behind Ethan.
Benjamin watched Clara obediently follow behind Ethan and began to doubt…
Didn’t she say other women were obedient to Ethan but she was different?
How was she different now? Wasn’t she also obedient to Ethan?
Indeed, one shouldn’t believe what women say.
Benjamin followed them.
After walking a few steps, they reached the entrance of the Logan family’s mansion. Ethan went in, Clara followed, and then… Benjamin also followed.
Clara looked at Benjamin.
Why was he following?
Benjamin looked at her.
Crazy person.
Ethan didn’t hear footsteps and turned around to see Clara and Benjamin staring at each other.
Were they already so familiar with each other?
He had seen them talking non-stop while walking earlier from the car.
Chattering away.
Clara saw Ethan looking at them and quickly followed him, ignoring Benjamin.
Benjamin followed them inside.
The three of them entered the house one after another.
Ethan and Clara went upstairs to their room.
He couldn’t follow them up there.
Only then did Benjamin remember… why did he follow them to the Logan family?
What was he doing here?
He wanted to leave, but the Logan family’s servant had already poured him tea and cut some fruit.
Since he was already here, he might as well drink the tea and eat the fruit before leaving.
After all, he was familiar with the Logan family; he wasn’t an outsider.
So… Benjamin sat on the sofa drinking tea, eating fruit, and leisurely watching TV.
Clara and Ethan returned to their room.
Clara looked around the room… it had only been two nights since they last stayed here, but it felt like something was different about the room.
But upon closer inspection… everything was the same; nothing had changed.
Ethan took off his suit jacket, loosened his tie, and asked Clara, “Are you very familiar with Benjamin?”
Clara replied, “… Not familiar.”
Ethan looked at her.
Not familiar yet talked non-stop all the way?
Clara looked at Ethan.
Why was he looking at her like that?
Was he suspecting something between her and Benjamin?
He couldn’t be that suspicious, right?
“He approached me…” Clara said. “To give me tips… on how to win your heart.”
As she spoke, Clara blushed.
Ethan raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised.
But he quickly understood.
He roughly knew what Benjamin was up to.
“What tips did he give you?” Ethan asked.
Clara replied, “… None.”
“I didn’t listen to him,” Clara said. “He hasn’t even sorted out his own love life… yet has the nerve to give others tips? If he had so many tricks up his sleeve, he would have been with Nora long ago.”
Why would he need to bother her?
It made sense.
“You didn’t listen to him,” Ethan asked. “Then do you have your own way of winning my heart?”
Clara looked at Ethan in surprise, then blushed even more.
Why did he suddenly say such things?
It made her feel shy and embarrassed.
She hadn’t thought about winning his heart.
But… she couldn’t say that; otherwise… he would definitely be angry.
“I… will practice my cooking skills diligently,” Clara said, her face red.
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
He had heard that classic saying: To win a man’s heart, you must first win his stomach.
Thinking of Clara’s mediocre cooking skills…
He nodded and said to Clara, “Then keep it up.”
Clara looked at him with a red face,
What did he mean by that?
Was he encouraging her?
