Chapter 55: Rewarding a House

Clara once again tried to button up her pajamas.
Ethan didn’t stop her.
Instead, he stared at her with his eyes.
Feeling uneasy under his gaze, Clara dared not touch the buttons anymore.
Ethan looked at Clara and thought, “What a good girl.”

The next morning.
Clara was awakened by her alarm clock.
Still half asleep, she reached for her phone and checked the time. It was only 7:30 in the morning.
So tired.
She just wanted to continue sleeping.
Since getting married, she felt like she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep.
Every night…
Is this how women live after getting married?
No wonder they say women age faster after marriage… It’s hard to rest well with all these disturbances every night.
Clara got out of bed and went to the bathroom… As she took off her pants, she noticed the dark red stain on her underwear. It took her a moment to realize… she had started her period.
And then… she suddenly felt happy.
Her period had come.
Did this mean she could rest for a week?
Finally, she could have a good week of sleep.
In the past, Clara found it inconvenient during her period, worrying about leaks and such…
But now, she was genuinely happy and felt like singing.
When Ethan returned from his morning exercise, he noticed Clara’s obvious good mood.
He raised an eyebrow.
Why was the girl so happy today?
Did she have a pleasant dream last night?
The two of them had breakfast and then went to work and school.

After finishing classes in the morning, Clara returned to her dormitory for a nap.
She didn’t know when Ethan would give her the house he mentioned.
Could it be that he wasn’t satisfied with her performance?
That couldn’t be true.
He had clearly torn her newly bought pajamas into pieces.
He couldn’t possibly be unsatisfied.
Could it be… Ethan wanted to go back on his word?
Just because of a pair of pants?
Clara frowned.
If that were true, she wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.
She couldn’t do anything to Ethan.
Only Ethan could do things to her.
Clara was about to go to sleep when the phone rang.
It was Ethan’s call.
Clara was taken aback. She and Ethan rarely contacted each other.
Why was Ethan calling her now?
Clara answered the phone, “Hello…”
“Come out,” Ethan said.
Clara replied, “Huh?”
What did he mean by “come out”?
Ethan said, “I’m outside your school. Come out.”
Clara said, “… Oh, I’m coming.”
She hung up the phone and quickly left her bed to go outside.
She didn’t know why Ethan came to find her at school.
He didn’t even give her any notice beforehand.
Clara arrived at the school gate and sure enough, she saw Ethan standing there casually, wearing sunglasses… attracting the attention of passing girls.
Clara walked over and asked, “Why are you here?”
Ethan glanced at her and raised an eyebrow. “What? Can’t I come?”
Clara replied, “… Of course.”
Could she really say no?
No, she couldn’t.
“Let’s go,” Ethan said, extending his hand to Clara.
Clara obediently placed her hand in Ethan’s.
Ethan held Clara’s hand as they crossed the road and entered a residential area.
As they entered the community, Clara had a feeling that Ethan… was going to give her a house.
It was a villa community.
All the houses inside were villas.
The houses were not too old, built ten years ago.
Ethan led Clara into one of the houses.
Clara looked around. It was a beautifully decorated house, very clean… It seemed like no one had lived here before.
“Is it… for me?” Clara asked Ethan.
Ethan nodded. “Hmm… as a reward for you.”
Ethan said, “You did well that night.”
Clara blushed.
Why did Ethan have to say that last sentence?
Couldn’t he just not say it?
It’s really… embarrassing.
“I… need to use the bathroom,” Clara said blushing. She hurried into the bathroom and splashed cold water on her face to cool down her flushed cheeks.
After coming out of the bathroom, Clara continued to examine the room… The house was spacious. Based on the layout, it should have been designed as a three-bedroom, two-living-room space. During the renovation, they changed three rooms into two, making the master bedroom particularly large.
No matter how Clara looked at it, she liked it.
This was her house.
In the future, when she felt sad or wanted some alone time, she would have a place to go… instead of sleeping on the streets.
“If… we get divorced, will you want it back?” Clara asked.
She knew this question might sound inappropriate. After all, Ethan had just given her a house and she was already thinking about divorce… But she just wanted to know.
Ethan looked at Clara with cold eyes.
She shouldn’t have asked that question.
It seemed like Ethan was angry now.
Would he take back the house in a fit of anger?
Clara suddenly wanted to slap herself in the face.
Why did she have to speak out? Why did she have to speak out? She knew she shouldn’t have asked such a question in this situation…
Now… would he make himself a widower?
It was terrifying.
“I… didn’t forget,” Clara said.
This was a matter of life and death for herself. How could she forget?
How could she forget?
Ethan glanced at Clara but didn’t say anything.
Clara didn’t dare to speak either. She pretended to continue examining the house.
Ethan looked at Clara and smirked.

In the afternoon, Clara finished school at 4:30 p. m.
After school, she returned to the dormitory and started packing her things.
Ella and Ava were still filming on set most of the time and rarely returned to the dormitory. Only Zoe was there.
Zoe saw Clara packing and asked curiously, “Clara, why are you packing?”
Clara smiled and said, “I won’t be staying in the dormitory anymore.”
Zoe paused for a moment and asked in surprise, “Not staying in the dormitory?”
“Yes,” Clara nodded. “I bought a house near the school… I’ll go there for rest during lunchtime.”
Zoe fell silent.
Watching Clara pack her things…
Being rich must be nice.
The houses near their school were very expensive. Even an ordinary three-bedroom, two-living-room apartment would cost at least eight figures… And yet, Clara just bought one casually.
At the same age, while Zoe worried about future jobs, Clara had already married such a man…
Clara would live a good life as long as she didn’t do anything stupid.
Even if they divorced in the future, she would still receive a certain amount of property. As long as one had money in this world, life wouldn’t be too difficult.
Zoe took a deep breath, adjusted her emotions, and smiled. “You have so many things. Let me help you pack.”
“No need. I can do it myself,” Clara said.
“We’re roommates. Why be so polite?” Zoe offered to help Clara pack her things.
Clara no longer refused.
Clara didn’t have many things. After packing everything up, the two of them carried their belongings to Clara’s new home.
Arriving at the house and seeing its luxurious decoration, Zoe couldn’t help but feel jealous again.
She wondered when she would be able to own such a house in this city…
Perhaps… it would never happen in this lifetime.
After Clara finished organizing her things, she said to Zoe, “Thank you. I’ll treat you to dinner tomorrow at noon.”
Zoe smiled and said, “We’re roommates. No need to be so polite.”
Zoe went back to her own dormitory after that and told Ella about Clara moving out.
