The walk-in closet was filled with Ethan’s clothes. Now, with Clara’s clothes added, it was packed to the brim.
Clara used to think Ethan had a lot of clothes. Now, comparing his to hers, his seemed insignificant.
Clara stayed in the closet for quite a while, trying on one outfit after another. When she finally came out, Ethan had already finished his shower and was sitting on the bed in a bathrobe.
Ethan was so quick?
Ethan looked at Clara.
She looked at him, puzzled. Why was he staring at her like that?
Ethan pointed towards the bathroom with his chin.
Clara suddenly understood! Ethan wanted her to take a shower! She got it. Completely understood.
Blushing, Clara took her pajamas and went into the bathroom. She chose her most seductive pajamas, which were actually just a simple camisole style, but compared to her usual shorts and T-shirts or oversized sleepwear, it was much more appealing.
She wiped the steam off the mirror and looked at herself. Her face was flushed, her big eyes were watery, and her exposed skin was fair and tender, making her look very enticing.
Thinking about what was about to happen, Clara didn’t have the courage to go out.
But she couldn’t stay in the bathroom all night.
Besides, Ethan had been so generous today, buying her a big pink diamond and so many clothes, spending over twenty million dollars in total.
What was wrong with sacrificing a little in return? With gains come sacrifices.
She knew she should show gratitude when people were generous with her.
After spending so much of Ethan’s money, she naturally had to repay him somehow. She had nothing else to offer; the only thing she had that Ethan didn’t was her young and beautiful body.
Taking a deep breath, Clara opened the bathroom door and walked out slowly. Ethan heard the door open and looked up.
Seeing Clara, a dark gleam flashed in his eyes. The girl was usually conservative with her sleepwear, despite being twenty years old, she was as naive as a little girl in this regard.
But tonight, she finally wore something age-appropriate with a hint of sensuality.
Why the sudden change tonight? Was it because she was happy with the gifts he bought her? Did she want to repay him? At least she knew how to be grateful.
“Come here,” Ethan ordered hoarsely.
Clara blushed even more, her eyes flickering as she slowly walked towards Ethan, not daring to look at him. Finally, she reached the bedside. Ethan grabbed her hand and pulled hard.
“Ah!” Clara exclaimed as she fell onto Ethan. The impact made her nose hit his chest, causing a sharp pain that brought tears to her eyes.
It hurt so much. She felt like her nose was broken. Clara looked up at Ethan with teary eyes, feeling wronged.
Much later, a satisfied Ethan finally let Clara go and went to the bathroom to clean up. Clara lay on the bed like a dead fish, completely exhausted and dazed from the experience.
When Ethan came out of the bathroom, Clara had barely recovered. He walked over and handed her a card.
“What’s this?” Clara asked in confusion.
“A supplementary card for my account,” Ethan replied.
Clara blinked at him. Was this for her? A card for her? “Use this card for anything you want to buy,” Ethan said, handing it to her.
Clara took it, looking at Ethan. Was this… pocket money from him? Why was Ethan acting so differently today? Buying her jewelry, clothes, bags, shoes, and now giving her a credit card? This didn’t seem like he was treating her as a tool for revenge.
Who would treat a revenge tool so well? Revenge tools were supposed to be treated cruelly.
Seeing Clara’s confusion despite accepting the card, Ethan raised an eyebrow. “What? You don’t want it?”
“No,” Clara shook her head.
Ethan glanced at her and said nothing more. He got into bed, hugged Clara, and quickly fell asleep.
Clara was tired but couldn’t sleep. She kept thinking about Ethan. What kind of attitude did he really have towards her? Why did he marry her? She pondered for a long time without finding an answer. Eventually, clutching the credit card, she drifted off to sleep.
Clara slept until ten in the morning. When she woke up, Ethan was no longer in bed.
After getting up and washing up, she went downstairs and saw Ethan sitting on the living room sofa talking with Julian, Fabian, and Samuel about city planning.
Ethan noticed Clara. “You’re awake.”
The elders turned to look at Clara.
“Yes,” Clara nodded with a blush and greeted them one by one: “Grandfather, Uncle, Dad.”
The elders nodded indifferently.
Clara felt awkward standing there, not knowing where to put her hands and feet.
She knew that because of her sister’s situation, the Logan family elders were cold towards her. Normally, she was almost invisible in this house.
Ethan said, “The kitchen made chicken soup today. Go have some to warm your stomach.”
Clara felt relieved and quickly nodded, “Okay.” She hurried to the kitchen.
Julian gave Ethan a surprised look. Ethan was his favorite grandson, known for his indifferent attitude towards people and things.
Even with his former fiancee Iris, whom he had chosen himself, he had been distant. Julian had thought Ethan liked Iris since he couldn’t see any other reason for choosing her as his fiancee.
But now it seemed he treated Clara much better than Iris.
He even showed concern for Clara’s well-being by suggesting she have some soup since she woke up late and missed breakfast.
Julian was pleased with the things going on between them. Although he didn’t think much of the Everett family or either Iris or Clara, now that they were married, he hoped Ethan could live well with Clara. A stable home would allow Ethan to focus more on his career.
He didn’t think highly of Clara’s background or its potential to help Ethan but hoped she wouldn’t hold him back either.
In the kitchen, the cook served Clara a bowl of chicken soup. She took a sip and sighed in relief; it was delicious and fresh.
After finishing the soup slowly, Clara didn’t want to stay in the kitchen because of the heavy smell of cooking oil but also didn’t want to go back out and face the elders’ scrutiny again.
