Ethan left.
Clara quickly washed up and went to bed. She thought she would be too restless to sleep, but soon she fell asleep. She slept until Ethan returned and made some noise, waking her up.
She instinctively looked at the clock on the wall. It was eleven o’clock at night.
She had slept for four hours.
Seeing Ethan made Clara nervous. She didn’t want to be, but she couldn’t help it.
Ethan casually threw his suit jacket on the sofa, loosened his tie with one hand, and walked towards the bed.
“You’re back,” Clara said awkwardly.
Ethan responded with a faint “hmm” and got into bed. He leaned over and kissed Clara on the lips.
Clara smelled alcohol.
The scent of alcohol mixed with his own scent was intoxicating.
Ethan’s kiss was fierce, with a strong purpose. Clara struggled to push him away, but her feeble resistance only seemed to amuse Ethan, making him more interested.
After exhausting Clara, Ethan took a shower and fell asleep. Clara, however, couldn’t sleep.
She watched Ethan with his eyes closed. Without his cold gaze, he looked much softer. What was he thinking? Why did he marry her? Was it to provoke her sister or for the Logan family’s reputation?
She couldn’t understand how he could so naturally take her as if she wasn’t his fiancee’s sister but his woman.
Stop overthinking, stop overthinking, she told herself.
But Clara couldn’t control her thoughts. She kept thinking about her relationship with Iris and Ethan.
Morning came.
When Clara woke up, Ethan was no longer in bed. She got up, dressed, and went to the bathroom to wash up. When she came out, she saw Ethan.
“Good morning,” Clara said, blushing.
Ethan nodded. “Have breakfast first. After that, we’ll go to the Everett family to pack your things.”
Clara suddenly lost her appetite.
After hesitating for a moment, Clara said, “I’ll go pack by myself.”
It felt too awkward for Ethan to go to her house.
Ethan didn’t respond. He turned and walked out of the bedroom.
Clara didn’t understand what Ethan meant but followed him. Breakfast was laid out on the table in the living room.
They sat down and ate in silence.
Clara had something on her mind and no appetite. She ate a little and couldn’t eat anymore. After Ethan finished eating, they packed up and went downstairs to check out of the hotel.
After checking out, they left the hotel. Ethan brought the car around, and Clara got in.
Sitting in the passenger seat, she stole a glance at Ethan.
Ethan started the car.
At first, Clara didn’t know where Ethan was going. Later, she realized he was heading to the Everett family.
Clara didn’t try to persuade Ethan because she knew he wouldn’t listen to her.
As they got closer to home, Clara’s heart grew more chaotic.
She didn’t know what she would face when she returned.
She had an uneasy feeling.
When they arrived at the Everett family home, Ethan parked outside the villa and got out of the car. Clara also got out and entered the villa.
William had gone to work; Iris and Sophia were home.
“Mom, Sis,” Clara greeted them awkwardly.
She remembered how her mother and sister had lectured her on her wedding night. But now, she and Ethan were truly married…
She didn’t know how to face her mother and sister, especially Iris.
Clara looked at Iris. Her sister looked haggard. She was already thin, but in just two days, she seemed even thinner. Her pale face had no color, and her loose dress hung on her frail frame as if a gust of wind could blow her away.
Seeing Iris like this made Clara feel even worse.
Iris forced a smile and nodded at Clara.
Sophia looked at Clara. As someone experienced, she could tell at a glance that Clara was no longer a virgin; she carried a man’s scent. A flash of stern anger crossed her eyes, but she suppressed it in front of Ethan.
“You’re back,” Sophia said with a smile.
“Yes,” Clara nodded.
“Clara, go upstairs first. Your mother and I need to talk to Ethan,” Sophia said.
Clara glanced at Ethan, nodded, and went upstairs. The matter between Ethan and her sister was far from over; there would be more entanglements.
“Pack your things. I called a moving company; they’re on their way,” Ethan suddenly said.
Clara froze on the stairs and turned to look at Ethan.
Sophia’s expression changed slightly. She forced a stiff smile and asked, “What things?”
“Clara’s clothes and personal items,” Ethan said calmly. “Clara is my wife now; naturally, she’ll come with me to the Logan family.”
Sophia was taken aback and couldn’t find words to respond.
