Kael
To be honest, ever since I found out last night that Seraphina had dinner with Magnus, a heavy, oppressive feeling has been weighing on my chest.
It left me distracted all day, unable to muster any energy. My mind was consumed by thoughts of their date. Magnus even drove Seraphina out to the countryside!
I couldn’t help but wonder what they might have done in the car. My sources told me they seemed to be getting along well.
Getting along well? To hell with that! Seraphina is mine!
The idea was like lighting a fuse in me. I wanted nothing more than to teach that bastard Magnus a lesson.
He’s a strong competitor, no doubt about it. Even though I haven’t uncovered any connections between him and the werewolves, my instincts tell me he’s not an ordinary man.
From his appearance to his demeanor and status, Magnus is clearly a formidable rival.
And I know Seraphina well enough to realize that, in many ways, Magnus might be closer to her ideal type.
The thought terrified me. I worried that if she spent too much time with him, she might fall for him.
But when I voiced my concerns, Seraphina fell silent.
After a while, she finally said, “You saw me with Magnus last night?”
“Of course. My sources told me.”
“We didn’t do anything inappropriate, did we?” she asked.
I shook my head, confused as to why she’d even ask such a thing.
“If you had, I don’t think I could stop myself from killing him,” I said bluntly.
Thankfully, no. When my people reported back to me, I confirmed that nothing out of line had happened. Magnus and Seraphina had only talked in the car, and nothing beyond that.
But still, the idea of them together filled me with rage.
“Last night, you were the one with Magnus. Why are you asking me about this now?” I couldn’t understand what Seraphina was thinking.
To my surprise, she sighed at my question. “Honestly, Kael, I can’t really remember what happened with Magnus after dinner.”
“You forgot? That was last night! Less than a day ago, and you’ve already forgotten?” My voice was filled with disbelief, as if I couldn’t fathom how Seraphina could be so forgetful.
“Forgive me. I don’t think I have a bad memory. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have made it to university. I just feel like I’ve been processing so much information lately that some unimportant details slip through the cracks.”
I placed my hand on her forehead, frowning. “Did you really forget? When did this start?”
“After dinner with Magnus. We left the restaurant, and he offered to drive me back to my apartment. We were on our way when… my memory becomes fuzzy. I remember him dropping me off, and I recall going inside, washing up, and going to bed. But the details are hazy.”
Hearing her explanation, I couldn’t help but furrow my brows.
“That’s impossible. How could a normal person forget something so recent?”
“Did Magnus do something to you?” I asked, my tone turning serious. It was the only conclusion I could draw.
Seraphina shook her head. “Him? That’s impossible… unless he really is a werewolf. But even then, my body isn’t like an ordinary human’s. He shouldn’t be able to do anything to me.”
She had a point.
Seraphina wasn’t just anyone. Even if Magnus was a werewolf, unless he was extraordinarily powerful, he wouldn’t be able to control her so easily.
Maybe I was overthinking it. Perhaps her recent physical changes had affected her memory.
Grasping her hand, I said, “No matter what, I’ll stay by your side. If anything feels off with your body, come to me immediately. My medical skills might not be the best, but David can help you.”
“Alright, I will. But I feel fine right now,” Seraphina said with a smile.
Her complexion, expression, and gaze were all as usual. Perhaps I was worrying too much.
“I’ll take you somewhere and cook for you,” I said.
Without waiting for her response, I teleported us to an estate in a quiet, remote area of the countryside.
The estate belonged to my father, though I was the one using it now. I rarely came here since I was busy with school and didn’t like living alone in such a large space.
But I was tired of the cramped apartment where Seraphina and I usually spent time. Staying in one place for too long could become stifling.
I turned to look at Seraphina, unsurprised to find her staring in awe.
“Is this your home?” she asked.
“Not exactly. Just one of my family’s properties.”
“It’s beautiful,” she said, stepping out of my arms to take in the surroundings. “This place is incredible!”
She seemed genuinely enchanted, like a child filled with curiosity about the world.
She ran her fingers across the marble table, touched an intricately carved vase, and paused to admire the exquisite paintings on the walls.
Watching her made me smile.
I walked over, pulled her into my arms, and whispered in her ear, “Do you like it? If you love it so much, why don’t you stay here forever?”
“No, Kael,” she said with a laugh. “Don’t be shallow. I’m just amazed at how luxurious this place is. I’ve never been somewhere so grand. It must be wonderful to be as wealthy as you.”
She smiled warmly, and I let her go.
I knew this was just who Seraphina was. Her personality was what had drawn me to her in the first place.
“I’ll cook for you,” I said, kissing her cheek before heading to the kitchen.
