I closed my eyes and every single part of me clung to Asher like glue. I could feel the intense spark that radiated all over my body and our binding was so powerful that I had forgotten about everything and everyone around us. My heart couldn’t stop pounding in my chest as Asher’s canines sank deeper into my neck, tasting my blood. The pain slowly wandered away and what I began feeling was a new sensation, something I had never felt. It was so alien, causing so much pleasure to me, that I kept moaning, feeling myself so turned on.
I felt like I had been drugged but this drug was different, unlike anything anyone had ever possessed. It was the most beautiful feeling in the entire universe and if anyone could feel what I was feeling right now, they would kill for it. I wanted to scream with immeasurable joy. I felt my body glowing from inside and my hands reached up to Asher’s head and pulled him tighter against me. I didn’t want this moment to end. I won’t mind staying like this forever.
I knew that many eyes were on us but I didn’t care about any of that. All I cared about was the man laying full claim on me. This was what I had always wanted, for Asher to choose me and do it on his own will. I didn’t want to force him into it. I have always wanted him to realize that I was the one for him and no one else.
Asher slowly pulled his canines out, and his tongue licked the wound close. I trailed my finger on the spot he had just bitten me and I felt his mark on my neck. It was still fresh but it barely pained me.
At first, I couldn’t believe any of this. It was like a shock to me that Asher was even here. When Emily walked in, I looked around searching for him. I felt miserable seeing her in the crowd right in front of me while I was getting married to someone who wasn’t Asher. It was even more painful knowing that she had the man I wanted more than anything in the world. And the malicious look she had given me didn’t help to ease that pain. She knew I was miserable and she wanted to rub that on my face. I could bet that was the reason why she attended the wedding to make a mockery of me and she almost succeeded. I was on the verge of crying when it dawned on me that I would eventually belong to someone I didn’t love.
And then when I had thought that my life was over, just when I thought that I would never be happy for the rest of my life, Asher rushed in and stole the spotlight. He pulled the attention of everyone when he attacked Alpha Logan.
He did it so perfectly and effortlessly that it proved to everyone how powerful and fierce he was. It was a serious offence in the council for one to disrupt an occasion like this but it only showed just how much I meant to him.
I didn’t expect him to come for me. I didn’t expect him to attack the council elders because of me. Though he had threatened to do so, I thought that he had said those words in the heat of the moment.
It still felt like this was all a dream and I was scared that I would eventually wake up and the dream would disappear. And then Asher lifted his head and a loud roar escaped his mouth. No sooner had he made the sound did multiple howls erupt all around the council. I recognized it immediately as his pack celebrated with him, they were accepting me as their Luna and couldn’t describe the surge of happiness that bubbled within me.
Asher’s pack had accepted me as their own and I could see the happiness and fulfillment in his eyes as he gazed at me lovingly.
He gently cupped my cheeks in his hands in front of everyone, he dipped his head and sealed our mating with an erotic deep kiss. I moaned and clung to him as much as I could.
Suddenly a loud roar completely shattered our special moment and before I could figure out what was happening and where the roar had erupted from, Asher was harshly pulled away from me. I watched in horror as he fell backward with Alpha Logan on top of him.
“What the hell is all this?” He growled. “How dare you humiliate me and mark the woman I was supposed to marry? I will make you pay for this Asher Pendragon. Even your filth blood won’t be enough to cleanse this humiliation.”
Asher looked at me and winked like an actual wink. How could he be winking on a serious issue like this? I was shocked for a few seconds but quickly veered back to reality when Logan punched him in the face.
Asher growled and tackled him to the ground. I didn’t know what to do. I wasn’t sure how to react to any of this. Everything was happening so fast that my mind was taking its sluggish time to wrap itself around it.
There was chaos all around the ballroom. People were screaming and running as Asher threw him back into the crowd. Everyone was scattering and trying to get to safety.
This wasn’t a fight for Asher since Logan wasn’t a match for him. It was only a few minutes into the brawl that Logan was knocked out cold on the ground. Immediately his pack warriors barged in for revenge but they didn’t have a chance as Asher’s warriors barged in at the same time. After seeing that they were outnumbered they all surrendered and took their unconscious Alpha out of the ballroom.
“How could you do this to me?” A piercing scream broke out from the crowd.
Asher froze and his eyes fell to the crowd in shock. I saw the way his body immediately tensed as his eyes settled on something. I followed his gaze and saw what it was or rather who it was.
“Emily.”
She was looking at him as though he had betrayed her and for the first time, the look on her face looked so real. She was hurt and I didn’t even feel a bit sorry for her. My focus was on Asher and I was scared of what he might do, after realizing that Emily had watched the public display of affection between us.
I felt a sudden sink in my heart as he attempted to go to her. What was he going to do? He had just marked me. Would he still keep her around after admitting that I was the only woman he wanted to spend his life with?
