Kayden didn’t know what an Innate Warrior was. So, that meant this guy wasn’t one, right?
Not being an Innate Warrior but still being so strong? How was that even possible?
Jett Thorne didn’t know either. But for him, the most reassuring news right now was that this man wasn’t an Innate Warrior.
“Hahaha, hahahaha!” Jett Thorne laughed. He laughed wildly, maniacally, with a crazed gleam in his eyes.
“Not an Innate Warrior, yet so arrogant! Today, even if the Venom Sect is destroyed, you won’t get out of here alive.”
With that, Jett Thorne struggled to stand up from the ground, his movements filled with madness.
Kayden stared at him, puzzled. “I don’t know where your confidence comes from.”
Before his words could settle, Wood Faulkner, standing behind him, shouted, “Mr. Scott, it looks like he’s going for a desperate fight!”
A desperate fight.
Kayden didn’t care. A desperate fight required equal strength on both sides. But the gap between this old man and Kayden was enormous. What could he possibly have to fight him with?
As it turned out, all of Jett Thorne’s underhanded tricks were useless against Kayden.
So, no matter what he tried, it wouldn’t work.
For such futile attempts, Kayden wouldn’t even bother. Trash like this? Unworthy of a serious fight.
“Enough with the nonsense. Take this!” Kayden said coldly. With a wave of his hand, the jagged blade in his grasp flew straight toward Jett Thorne.
Jett Thorne didn’t move an inch, a faint smirk playing on his lips.
That eerie smile made Kayden want to end him right then and there. But soon…
Very soon, he’d be dead!
Just as the blade was about to strike him, Jett Thorne suddenly leaned back. A barrier appeared between him and the blade.
Clang!
The barrier blocked the jagged blade, sparks flying as the blade collided with it.
The impact left a deep dent in the barrier, but it didn’t break. Instead, the blade fell to the ground with a dull thud, like a deflated ball.
Kayden looked on, unimpressed. “Is this your trump card?”
He reached out, and with a simple motion, the jagged blade flew back into his hand. This display of raw power came from his recovering strength-over sixty percent of his energy was now restored, far more than before.
“No,” Jett Thorne said, his voice cold and sinister through the barrier. “I just wanted to show you how strong I am.”
Then, Jett Thorne removed his long black robe, revealing his naked body underneath.
The sight made Wood Faulkner blush and turn away in embarrassment.
“Shameless old man. Can’t win, so you strip?”
Jett Thorne didn’t answer. He spread his arms wide, as if embracing the sky.
And then, the veins on his body began to bulge and writhe, his skin splitting with countless cracks.
He was burning through his life force, channeling the power of the surrounding vengeful spirits into himself.
This was the power of a hundred ghosts. Jett Thorne had reached the end of the road. It was his last, desperate gamble. Either he’d succeed or die trying.
Through gritted teeth, he muttered to Kayden, “You forced me into this. This is all your fault.”
“The Venom Sect may fall, but whoever destroys it must die with us! You must die with us!”
His final words carried an earth-shaking force. Outside, a thunderclap echoed, as if the heavens themselves were splitting open.
A thick black mist engulfed Jett Thorne, and moments later, he disappeared within it.
Wood Faulkner cautiously stepped forward and asked, “Mr. Scott, what is this…?”
“Trash,” Kayden said calmly, with just two words.
Wood Faulkner was momentarily speechless.
Yes, this was Kayden-the arrogant, invincible Kayden she knew.
To him, everything was always so fragile, so insignificant.
As if, whenever he wanted, no one could stand against him.
A minute later, the black mist began to dissipate. The barrier collapsed with a loud crash.
And then, what emerged before Kayden and Wood Faulkner was something neither human nor demon.
It still bore Jett Thorne’s face, but his eyes had turned completely black-no whites, only endless darkness.
His face was deathly black, consumed by the aura of resentment. This was no longer Jett Thorne. It was the embodiment of all the Venom Sect’s vengeful spirits.
“You forced me into this!”
Jett Thorne roared, launching himself at Kayden like a cannonball.
Kayden remained unfazed, unimpressed by this so-called transformation.
With a wave of his arm, the jagged blade flew out once more.
Swish!
The blade danced in circles around Jett Thorne, creating a dizzying spectacle.
Jett Thorne’s earlier confidence evaporated. Now, he stood frozen, his arrogance replaced by fear.
In just a few rounds of combat, his expression turned to one of utter terror. Was Kayden holding back earlier? How could he be so strong? Jett Thorne had already given everything he had, yet he couldn’t match him. It was beyond belief.
He felt like he was losing his mind.
“Die! Die!”
He screamed in a frenzy, but Kayden merely sneered. “This? Nothing but cheap tricks.”
Kayden rose lightly into the air, his movements effortless.
Gripping the jagged blade, he leapt high into the sky. Lightning crackled around him, and the earth trembled with a deafening roar.
With a thunderous strike, Kayden drove the blade straight into Jett Thorne’s chest.
The blade sliced through his abdomen, and the black mist surrounding him instantly dissipated.
“No! No! No!”
Jett Thorne’s cries of despair echoed as his youthful face aged in an instant, becoming old and withered.
In the end, he was too weak. Against Kayden, he wasn’t even qualified for a proper fight.
“I’ll take you down with me!”
As the black mist around him vanished, Jett Thorne grabbed hold of Kayden with all his remaining strength. A strange smile crossed his face.
Kayden didn’t understand at first. But the next second, he realized something was wrong.
Jett Thorne’s body began to glow with intense flames.
Self-immolation. Jett Thorne was setting himself on fire!
No, not just fire-
Boom!
A deafening explosion erupted as Jett Thorne’s body detonated like a bomb.
The ground shook violently, as if the heavens and earth were being torn apart.
“No!”
Wood Faulkner’s scream echoed in the chaos, only to be swallowed by the explosion.
And then, silence.
After the explosion, everything fell still. Peace returned, as if nothing had ever happened.
