Isabella sat in the passenger seat of Andrew’s car, holding a thick stack of documents, still finding it hard to believe.
In her impression, Robert had always been deeply secretive, shrewd, and ruthless, having run Moonlit Art Inc. for many years, firmly entrenched in his position.
She had constantly been troubled by how to deal with him, yet Robert handed Moonlit Art Inc. back to her and even planned her way forward.
She couldn’t help but wonder if everything that had just happened was an illusion.
“Andrew, let me pinch you,” Isabella said.
“Why?” Andrew asked, holding the steering wheel with one hand, puzzled.
“I want to see if I’m dreaming,” Isabella replied.
“Shouldn’t you pinch yourself then?”
“Are you silly? Pinching myself hurts. Pinching you is the same,” Isabella answered seriously.
Andrew: “…”
He’d be foolish to let her pinch him.
“Andrew, do you think Robert might be possessed? He just handed the company back to me so easily. Moonlit Art Inc. is worth billions,” Isabella marveled.
Andrew’s grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly, his blue eyes deep and emotion well-concealed. His voice was calm, almost indifferent. “Moonlit Art Inc. was originally yours; there’s nothing wrong with him giving it back. Robert is sensible. If he had waited for me to deal with him, he wouldn’t have come out unscathed.”
“According to you, the Turner family consortium is already in your hands, yet Thomas hasn’t given up. So, there’s no such thing as ‘nothing wrong’ in this world. Maybe I’ve misunderstood Robert all along; perhaps he’s actually a good person.”
“Just a little kindness, and you think he’s good,” Andrew said mildly.
A man wouldn’t be kind to a woman for no reason, mostly because he had ulterior motives. Robert’s intentions were clear to Andrew.
“Billions is just a little kindness! Such a big temptation, and he wasn’t moved, proving his nature isn’t bad,” Isabella said earnestly.
Andrew raised an eyebrow, unable to refute her.
Having finished talking about Robert, Isabella remembered that Andrew should be at work at this time.
“Andrew, you have so many meetings and endless social engagements. How did you find the time to pick me up?”
“I was worried about you,” Andrew replied simply.
In fact, after receiving Isabella’s message, he had hurried to the cafe, fearing Robert might harm her.
As a man, Andrew knew very well that when a man covets a woman, he can easily become obsessive. Andrew couldn’t allow Isabella to be in any danger, no matter how slight.
But Isabella, this little girl, seemed carefree, thinking Robert was a good person.
Maybe Robert was a good person, but no one could guarantee that good people wouldn’t lose their minds and make terrible mistakes.
Andrew’s car slowly drove into the neighborhood, parking in front of the apartment building.
He had canceled his engagements and didn’t need to return to the company. He followed Isabella directly home.
As soon as Isabella entered, she kicked off her shoes and walked towards the bedroom, pulling off the hairband from her head.
She had run straight from the beauty salon to meet Robert, not even having time to dry her hair.
She stood in front of the dressing table, holding a hairdryer to blow her hair. Her voluminous curls, slightly tousled, cascaded over her shoulders. The blast of the hairdryer made her squint, her posture resembling that of a lazy yet elegant cat.
Andrew approached from behind and naturally took the hairdryer from her hand. The overlapping shadows of the two were reflected in the dressing table mirror in front of them.
His slender, slightly cool fingertips maneuvered through her strands, intentionally or unintentionally brushing against the sensitive skin of her neck.
Isabella’s cheeks flushed slightly as she glanced at the man in the mirror. His arm encircled her waist, and his deep brows hinted at a faint smile.
While the sound of the hairdryer buzzed in her ears, Andrew’s arm around her waist tightened slowly, as if wanting to pull her closer. Tender kisses landed on her hair, cheeks, and soft red lips.
“Andrew, stop it, Amelia and Asher will be back soon…” she said, embarrassment evident on her face as she tried to push him away.
The weather was nice today, and Amelia and Asher should be back soon from the nearby park where they went to play.
Ignoring her resistance, Andrew disregarded her protests and turned her body to face him, lifting her chin and kissing her deeply.
Isabella’s body pressed against his chest, feeling his strong and steady heartbeat, as well as his slightly hurried breath.
Gradually, she softened in his embrace, her arms slowly climbing up to his shoulders.
Isabella felt dizzy from his kisses, then falling into the bed with him.
Andrew sat up from the bed, reaching for his shirt and slipping it on. He habitually reached for the cigarette box and lighter on the bedside table.
He took out a cigarette but didn’t light it, mindful of Isabella’s dislike for the smell of smoke.
As Isabella nestled against him, looking up at him with her fair cheeks and watery eyes, he couldn’t help but place a gentle kiss on her red lips.
She was his sweetheart. He wished he could keep her hidden away, away from the gaze of other men.
“What are you thinking, Andrew?” Isabella asked with a smile.
“I’m thinking of you,” Andrew replied with a light laugh, his lips forming a charming curve.
“I’m right here beside you, what else is there to think about?” Isabella leaned against him and asked.
“I still want to fuck you,” Andrew suddenly pressed in, pushing her down beneath him.
The two tangled up again, Isabella giggling happily in his arms. Amidst her laughter, a sudden knock echoed on the door.
“Daddy, Mommy, Asher’s back!”
The two stopped their kissing, and Isabella pushed his chest lightly. “Get up, your son is back.”
Andrew, with a sigh, sat up from the bed, bending down to pick up his scattered pants and swiftly putting them on. “Perfect timing for the return.”
