“If that drunkard is so obsessed that he doesn’t care about his wife and children, then what do we do?” Ryan asked again.
“We’ll do whatever needs to be done,” Andrew said, his blue eyes turning icy cold, his tone devoid of warmth.
Ryan nodded. “That deranged woman Victoria deserves to die. If we don’t get rid of her, she might harm Luna.”
Andrew pursed his lips coldly. Victoria had truly angered him this time.
“Boss, I’ll get to work. I’ll inform you as soon as there’s news.” Ryan stood up leisurely. Just as he reached the door, Andrew’s voice sounded again from behind.
“Ryan, keep my hospitalization under wraps,” Andrew said, his blue eyes still cold.
As the CEO of the Turner family conglomerate, any disturbance in his life could impact the company. If word of his car accident and hospitalization got out, it could cause stock fluctuations, shareholder panic, and give people like Thomas an opportunity to exploit the situation.
Ryan made an OK gesture to show he understood. Then he pushed open the door to the hospital room.
When the door opened, Isabella appeared in Ryan’s line of sight. She was standing quietly there, clearly having been there for a while. It was uncertain how much of their conversation she had overheard.
“Oh, Isabella,” Ryan said, startled at first but then casually.
“Ryan, thank you,” Isabella said seriously to him.
Ryan rubbed his nose, feeling somewhat uncomfortable. “Isabella, there’s no need to thank me.”
With that, Ryan strode out of the room and tactfully closed the door behind him.
On the hospital bed, Andrew looked at Isabella with warm eyes, slowly raising his arm and reaching out to her. “Isabella, come here.”
At his words, Isabella took a step towards him. However, her legs felt as heavy as lead, and her vision grew increasingly blurry until she could hardly see him.
Tears fell uncontrollably, and she finally burst into tears as she fell into his arms.
Her arms tightly wrapped around his warm chest, her head pressed against his heart, and she heard their hearts beating wildly, unable to control themselves.
He sighed lightly in resignation and used his uninjured hand to lift her small face, gently wiping away the tears on her cheeks.
“Silly girl, why are you crying? I’m fine.”
“Andrew, why did you wake up so late? Do you know how scared I was…” she choked up, unable to continue speaking.
When he was unconscious, no matter how she called him, he couldn’t hear. She was terrified to the point of feeling like she couldn’t breathe. At that moment, she was afraid he would never wake up again, afraid he would abandon her like her mother did, leaving her alone in this world.
“It’s my fault. I should have woken up sooner.” He half-embraced her, softly comforting her. Finally, when she stopped crying, he asked with concern, “Are you hurt?”
He had been worried since waking up, not seeing her. Andrew was most concerned about not being able to protect her.
“I’m fine.” She shook her head, tears falling again. “You risked your life to protect me. How could I be hurt?”
“Silly girl, I’m your husband. If I don’t protect you, who will I protect? And don’t forget, I’m a werewolf. My body is much stronger than a human’s.” Andrew smiled at her.
But Isabella’s tears started flowing again, like a flood bursting through a dam, uncontrollable.
She suddenly lifted her face and kissed his cool lips directly. This kiss tasted slightly salty, as tears had flowed into her mouth.
This time, it was Andrew who nearly couldn’t catch his breath from the kiss. He chuckled and gently released her.
“Isabella, don’t tease me now. Even if you want to, wait until after I leave the hospital.” His cool fingers gently brushed her chin, his warm breath falling on her cheek, making her skin burn.
Her face turned red instantly, and she instinctively clenched her fists, hitting his chest.
“Uh…” he groaned, clutching his chest and bending over, gasping for breath.
“Andrew, what’s wrong? I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. I’ll call the doctor.”
Isabella’s face turned pale instantly, and she stood up in a panic. Just as she was about to call for the doctor, Andrew grabbed her arm, pulling her into his embrace with a seemingly effortless tug.
“Isabella, are you worried about me?” His smile held a hint of mischief.
Isabella, having bumped into his firm chest, felt dizzy and disoriented. She was both embarrassed and annoyed as she struggled out of his embrace. “Don’t flatter yourself. Who’s worried about you? There are plenty of men out there. If the old ones go, new ones will come.”
With that, she ran out of the room, slightly irritated. It was already dark outside, and she was unsure if Andrew had eaten yet or if he had any dietary restrictions. She thought it would be best to consult the doctor first.
As soon as Isabella left the room, the smile on Andrew’s face disappeared. He held his bandaged forehead, feeling an intense headache as if his head was about to explode. His vision became blurry.
Frowning deeply, he picked up the phone on the bedside table and dialed Samuel’s number. “Samuel, are you free? Come over.”
Samuel had just finished a surgery. After removing his blue sterile gown, he went straight to Andrew’s room.
Andrew briefly described his symptoms to Samuel and then asked, “What’s my situation? I want the truth.”
Samuel hesitated. He could fool Layla and Isabella, but he couldn’t hide the truth from Andrew.
“Andrew, your injury is indeed severe. There’s a blood clot in your brain that might press on your nerves, affecting your vision and possibly causing other issues. I can’t say for sure because the human brain is too complex for any doctor to guarantee. Fortunately, the clot is small enough for conservative treatment for now. However, if conservative treatment doesn’t work, you’ll need to prepare for surgery. Although it’s a minimally invasive procedure, any brain surgery will have some impact on your future. At the very least, you won’t be able to work at the same intensity as before, and forget about flying planes or driving tanks.”
Andrew pursed his thin lips, his face stern.
Samuel patted his shoulder in a gesture of comfort, then joked, “Don’t think too much. I’m describing the worst-case scenario. If conservative treatment works, your future life won’t be greatly affected. Don’t worry, this condition isn’t fatal. If you were really in danger, I’d have already told your wife to remarry, so she doesn’t waste her time.”
Andrew gave him a cold glance and reminded him, “Don’t let my sister and Isabella know about my condition.”
He didn’t want Isabella to worry and didn’t want Layla to blame Isabella.
“I know what to do. I’ve kept it from them all along. Your medical records are in my drawer.” Samuel glanced at his watch. “I have another surgery soon. You get some rest. I’ll come by tomorrow to update you on your condition.”
Shortly after Samuel left, Isabella returned with a warm food box in her hands.
“I bought some soup and bird’s nest from nearby. The doctor said you can only eat light foods for now.” Isabella personally fed him porridge.
In reality, Andrew had no appetite. Not only did he feel dizzy, but he also felt nauseous.
However, Andrew didn’t say anything. As a man, he wouldn’t show weakness because of illness, and he didn’t want Isabella to worry.
So, when Isabella fed him the soup, he forced himself to drink it, enduring the discomfort. He held on until she stepped out to take a call, then went to the bathroom to vomit it all up.
After vomiting, he felt extremely weak but managed to return to bed and smile at Isabella when she came back.
However, Andrew only managed to hold on for one day. By the next day, he started to feel increasingly sleepy, sleeping more and waking less, until he eventually fell into a coma again.
